  1. I use a bead storage box with silica packs. I have a pool noodle on my kayak to hook used stuff on. I put the hook box open on top of the refrigerator to dry out when I get home. However, I am not totally happy with my organization.
  2. I just put up 4 of these and they work great for everything from surf rods to finesse panfish rods. I store rods with reels attached.
  3. Fishing from a kayak limits how many rods and baits you can carry. I fish a Texas rig most of the time or a jig. Love the feel! Started with that because plastics are fairly inexpensive. For 20 years, I fished with a fly rod 90 % of the time, and still do. Only once have I had a day when a T rig didn't work. A spinner bait worked that day. I still love to use a fly rod on top. I try a lot of baits, but circle back to these few. Where I fish is mostly Lilly pads. BTW, Alligators will hit a popper in a heartbeat.
  4. Suffix Braid or PowerPro. 50 lb on baitcasters and 20 on spinning. I keep coming back to braid or braid with a leader in clearer water. Where I usually fish the water is heavily stained to muddy and I usually skip the leader. Berkley big game on my wife's Zebco. I bought her a high end model that was made for salt water and it is extremely smooth. I like maxima for leaders.
  5. Palmered has mor movement because there is no stem in the exposed hackle.
  6. As Richard Gene the Fishing Machine says, go fishing when you can, it's good Fer ya.
  7. In the spring here there is too much muck for jigs or heavy weights
  8. Zoom trickworm. Junebug, gama round bend offset t rigged with as little weight as possible.
  9. What is the primary forage? How stained? How muddy? When in doubt throw a trickworm. I usually do best on Junebug color.
  10. @Bdnoble84can you post a photo of your bear hair jig and the type of jig heads you recommend? I am new to this.
  11. Gamakatsu, Owner, Mustad. The hook is your most important piece of equipment.
  12. I had trouble with the rabbit strips pulling it under when I tried that
  13. Look up Intruder flies for Steelhead. They use Emu and Ostrich. Wonder if Bass would like them.
  14. Trickworm Spinnerbait Jig and pig Zoom toad Jitterbug
  15. Great video. We'll done!
  16. My Grandfather was so excited when he bought a Johnson Century reel. I bought oneca few year's back. Those Zebcos are beasts too.
  17. Usually a Zoom trickworm in Junebug or Candybug. If they don't like that I go with a dead ringer or finesse. If active and I see them moving, I use a U vibe. I bouGHt some Roboworms and Anacondas and Ole Monsters, OH MY.
  18. I appreciate all of the good information. I am going to try the yozuri copolymer again.
  19. I have read a lot and am confused. I fish very stained and often muddy water in MS. I have been using straight braid, 50 lb On my baitcaster and 20 lb on my spinning. I fish from a kayak and only take a couple of rods, though I have several. Anyway, a kid on the college bass team suggested fluorocarbon. Other people suggest hybrid or mono. I bought some 25 lb Maxon chameleon on sale for 5 bucks. I have some 20 lb big Game, 12 lb yozuri hybrid and 10 lb Segar red label Fluorocarbon. I have some bright yellow salt mono in 12 and 3o lb. I usually fish a St Croix MOJO bass MF, or Lamiglass heavy fast or Ozark fast with BC and a Tourney special or Fenwick medium or ugly stick spinning. I fish mainly with worms, spinnerbaits, swimbaits and jigs. I also want to throw some hair jigs this year. I fish plastic worms a lot. Some frogs. Suggestions for versatile set up, heavy on plastics and spinnerbaits. Sorry to be long winded but wanted to be clear.
  20. A gone know what happened to @bigbill?
  21. On windy days I fish the Lilly pads. I just position on top of the pads which hold me still and fish in them with texas rigs or jigs. It works.
  22. I was gone from the forum for three years. I never had a lot to contribute. I spent the last three years in the pnw mostly fly fishing. Caught some bass and panfish by accident. Moved back home to MS in Oct. I need to buy a kayak or canoe. Anyway, I am retirement age but working a full-time job and also as a consultant. Loving it. It is not like I dig ditches. I am glad to be back on this site. You guys are great! We also lost my wife's daughter a couple of years ago. A loss like that puts things in perspective. "Simple" things like fishing, gardening, lure making, or whatever you are into are more important than you think. Family, pets, work, hobbies and your faith make up your life. Sharing with like minded people stimulates me.
