BASS or FLW?
ok the money is better? let's see here simple math last year there was 11 points elite's that paid 11 different angler's 100k there was 3 major's that paid 3 different angler's 250k there have been 2 classic's since the elite's started that paid two winner's 500k and this year there have been 3 point's tourney's that have paid 3 different angler's 100k each the key word is DIFFERENT there has been 19 elite series event's and 19 DIFFERENT ANGLER'S HAVE MADE 100K there has not been a repeat winner yeat 19 angler's amount's to almost 20% of the field in the same time there has been 10 flw tour event's that paid 100k to the winner 2 forrest wood cup's that paid 500k to the winner that make's 12 events that angler's made 100k in or what is 12 divided by 200 oh yeah that's 6% of the angler's so let's take the whole the money is better out of it

BASS or FLW?
rj the duke is right B.a.s.s. listened to it's member's and did not renew their deal with citgo that's why it's the toyota elite series and toyota tundra angler of the year race now b.a.s.s. was locked into a deal that they signed with citgo that was good through 06 you can't hold it against them for honoring the remainder of the contract I respect the fact that they listened and dropped them. I think you should reconsider your club the citgo thing more affected the pro level and club's need quality people to help with the future of the sport, you seem to have strong conviction's and I'm sure your club could benefit from you as a member

What I expect from a sponsor....
billy bob you hit the nail on the head brother 8-) I was one of those twenty year's ago as a seventeen yr old. and have sense learned what it's about, I like the approach some of the companies are taking by having prospective staffer's compete for one or two spot's. it make's sense almost like a try out, I have turned down several deals that i just didn't feel comfortable with. wheither I felt I couldn't do justice or they where not holding up their part. I am about to end a sponsorship that I've been in for a year because I simply have lost some faith in the product. communication is key both way's not just angler to co but company to angler as well
-
can anyone tell me this?
these guy's have fabulous point's listen to them. your haste to get sponsored leads me to believe that you don't really understand what it mean's to be sponsored. and that you are just in a hurry to wear someone's jersey. I was like that when I was a kid and I gave some companies alot of free impression's. Take time to learn the BUISINESS that is tournament fishing. it sound's like your young, if so get yourself a business management degree and enjoy fishing for now, there will be time in the future for bigger thing's

Professional, Boater, or non boater
a proffessional is someone that make's his living fishing I believe that in most flw trails at least from stren up. they refer to all boater's as proffessional's the non boater is the co angler in the back of the boat co angler is kinda the politically correct name for a non boater sorta like a garbage man is now a sanitation engineer,. and before someone say's i'm calling non boater's garbage men I'm not it's just the easiest way to explain it I fished as a non boater for a long time and never felt like i should be called a co angler,.

Skeet Reese dropped by Terminator/Normark!
this was a very bad choice by normark for the following reason today at my gander store I recieved my terminator stocking order for 07 included was a dozen of each color skeet's double buzz with skeet's picture on every pack Normark definately didn't like the lucky craft conflict that I can guarantee. however dropping him after shipping out all his bait's was a bushleague move now they will continue to make money off his likeness my hope is that skeet continue's to get paid for this run of terminator's normark should have let this year play out and then part way's I just dont' like the way it was done but as stated skeet will be fine especially because it look's like he's coming on with two cali tourney's coming up

BASS or FLW?
squid listed a bunch of name's that moved from bass to flw first let's address them if you look close the majority of them are sponsored primarily by flw title sponsor's nixon is stratos's only pro cochrane the hibdon's, shin fukae Ranger pro's ranger and stratos both owned by genmar mark davis jay yelas are skeeter pro's david dudley shouldn't even be mentioned after his unsportsmanlike conduct his last year in b.a.s.s. flw was probrably the only option mark davis finished top 10 at the resent southern open when asked why he was fishing the open's he stated two reason's and number 1 was to get back to the classic 2 (which I admire) was to get out with other pro's than just flw paa member's I am a b.a.s.s. fan for many reason's as a tournament angler and *** the coverage and media exposure for the angler's is unprecedented and can't be compared the conservation effort's by b.a.s.s. has gotten us a voice in washington as well as the capitol's in most states' flw's conservation effort's have been lukewarm at best they talk a good game but all I see is superficial money to look good b.a.s.s. just signed ramada worldwide as a major sponsor of the federation nation offering discount's to all member's the federation nation still get's 6 slot's in the classic b.a.s.s. allow's it's angler's to negotiate contract's that suit them with whoever they want they can fish out of whatever boat they want and wear whatever sponsor's they have on stage and in official media flw do's not allow the negotiation of team sponsorship's it's either what they say or the highway the elite series guy's have a 1 in 2 chance of making 10k flw tour and series guy's have a 1 in four chance of making 10k b.a.s.s. has made mistake's but historically has been the start and presently the pioneer of the sport I fished operation bass redman for alot of year's flw simply bought a trail and smartly put a recognizable bass name on it. fact of the top 50 money winner's in all of pro bass last year elite series pro's where 36 of those top 50 which mean's that more than 1/3 of the elite pro's made 100k or more all in my humble opinion

Fisherman athletes?
I'm not sure how many of you guy's that have fished a serious tourney cannot call competative bass fisherman athlete's. the physical aspect's are there let's see a football player is definately an athlete right? how about a kicker? he's a football player yet all he do's is kick the ball, we're fishermen and in a tourney we make what a couple thousand cast's? we buck wake's and wind and sun we stand on the front deck for 8 hour's at a time, nascar driver's sit in a car and have to wrestle the wheel for 500 mile's, anyone ever make a 100 mile run in a tourney? how'd you feel afterward. why are there no overweight nascar driver's? and why are there less and less overweight bass pro's? because science say's that physically fit athlete's perform better and absorb the shock on the body better that say a car or boat can dish out. Now before anyone say's i'm bashing overweight people I'm not I'm just proving a point. I say bass pro's are definately athlete's and amateaur's are not far off it depend's on your level of commitment to the sport. next week let's ask some of the elite guy's what it was like to fish 3 practice day's and 4 tourney day's at amistad jump in their truck drive 490 miles to rayburn then fish 3 practice and 3 or 4 tourney day's. my guess is that the leader board come 4th day may be littered with the angler's in the best shape ATHLETE'S

careers in the bass fishing sport
well I think the number one thing you need to do is get an education I actually started down the fisheries biologist path but couldnt' stand the polotic's and tree hugging that went on in the school business management is the key because then I'd say the best way to get your finger on the pulse of the sport is the retail way not Dick's!!!! I spent 10 year's with them back when they cared about the outdoor sport's. I'd say Gander Mountain(where i am now) bass pro or cabela's these three have their finger on the pulse of the industry and you will meet an unreal amount of people and contact's take your time you are young it is a fun industry but get the degree because you can make a decent living with that, I don't have one and it's taken me 18 year's to make a very comfortable living Good luck

Chris's Resume
futurepro I don't think you were rambling but I hope that the negativity inspire's you not anger's you, When I was 16 my cousin who was a very high level officer in a fortune 500 co called me into his office to give me the old"bass fishing is a pipe dream" speach and how I should grow up, Well to this day 20 year's later I am hell bent on bringing that up to him when I make my first classic. It never made me mad it just fired me up and motivated me more. moral of the story take it all with a grain of sand, don't let it seep into you because that is what lead's to the dark side. Good luck
