  1. you know it's a slippery slope where would it end? the biggest problem i see is enforcement and for the most part tourney guy's at least truly know how to drive there rig's at speed my concern is if they passed it ok we would abide. the go fast's ciggarette's jet ski's not a chance would abide and how many law enforcement unit's would it take to enforce? more than anyone would be willing to pay for. What we should do is enforce what's already there. they should make example's of some of the reckless one's hammer anyone boating while drunk( boy they do here) let's not rush to limit's
  2. very well done nick and I don't think it's too long it worked right? the only thing i'd do to refine it would be to take the personal stuff about noone in my family fishing I'd put that in a form of an introduction letter and format the rest as a resume' just so you understand what I mean make it two page's one being about yourself and your passion and one being the actual resume'(which is strong for your age) Good luck you are heading the right direction
  3. basser89 Marty stone, terry scroggin's and jeff coble were all at timonium this year, but in general you are right. I've worked that show for ten year's for my spinnerbait sponsor and it is headin down a slippery slope, no bobcat's this year :'( Woo had a tift with the promoter last year so he didn't come clyde's wasn't there, the fishin shop had guide's in their booth man it is getting sadder every year
  4. that is thinkin outside the box nice job and good luck
  5. squid I here gm is going chain wide in march which store are you near if I can help let me know top
  6. don't let him get to you, I've been battleing ney sayer's my whole life I did work all through high school and bought my first skeeter at 18 you seem to have the right mind set. One thing I've learned is that especially in this sport there are alot of guy's that have the talent to fish, but lack the marketing, selling and personal control to succeed above the club level. they all lack one other big thing. THEY WON'T GAMBLE did you see jeff coble on basscenter sat? he said that he learned what it would take to fish full time, his quote was"you have to quite your job and just go for it full time, I wasn't willing to do that" this took courage to say and even more to qualify through the weekend series. most guy's in the sport have a certain amount of jealousy toward anyone willing to risk it all, I've spent 18 year's in fishing tackle retail making a modest living by choice so I could be around the sport and learn the in's and out's of the business. finally with the proper support at home the last 3 season's have been profitable I'M IN THE BLACK and in 07 I think I have nailed down the sponsorship to move on to the northern tour. both of you guy's 19 and 20 year's old if you want it GO GET IT don't let anyone hold you down, just be smart and do it right don't be like me and need 20 year's to get on the right track. Goof luck
  7. Al I love ya I have an idea send the picture you use to chiquita maby they'll wrap you and you can run the banana boat, on second thought banana boat is also sun tan lotion hummm you could probrably get some babe's to pose on the boat, yeah that's it the sun tan lotion go for it man ;D
  8. hey guy's lay off the kid please, the last thing we need to beat down a young angler who has a dream. crankinking you're resume is written very well for a young guy but even though these guy's are whippin you a little they have some good point's before you try to get sponsor's fish some more tourney's and make a name for yourself, and when you are not fishing get a job outside school to help support the habit. At your age you need to be on the water as much as possible and when you start signing sponsor's you're time will become stretched, case in point this february 9 of my day's off that would be spent fishing will be spent traveling to all 9 Gander Mtn's in Ny to train the staff on fish hedz. so take your time and have fun and all you guy's remember what it was like being 13 and senko77 you seem to be ahead of the curve keep it up and be a little more encouraging to other's your age Peace out
  9. first of all DO NOT BUY A DEPTHFINDER ON EBAY I've seen unit's that haven't been made in 18 year's sell for 200 buck's for just leatning to read one I believe if you buy a Eagle cuda 168 you will be happy it only run's around 100 buck's you get 168 vertical pixel's and all the alarms that are on the bigger unit's, unless you are going to buy a combo unit with gps the size of screen is not that important for your aplication remember once the image is on the left of the screen it's ancient history already. that will leave you with some extra money to apease the baitmonkey also
  10. actually at 14 you would be able to join a jr bassmaster affiliated club go to bassmaster.com then to federation and federation link's click on the illinois chapter federation and see if there are any club's listed with jr chapter's good luck it will be a great learning experience
  11. hey guy's I side with all of you in some way's Jt you have some incredibly valid point's and northga don't be offended, I think the most important thing a youngster can do is this 1 go to school and get at least an associate's in business this sport is more business than anything else the fishing part is a bonus now you are still I assume in high school so in the mean time set some very realistic goal's for yourself You said your getting a boat that's great I bought my first skeeter when I was 18 BUT I didn't run it in a tournament for a bunch more year's I figured I had too much to learn, I would use your boat as a practice tool the biggest difference between pro's and local angler's is time on the water, Join a club and fish non boater for a couple year's you may also want to fish some state level stuff or even co angler in the weekend series or bfl, I can't tell you how many quality angler's I've learned from out of their boat. If you are truly interested in sponsorship's start small and think outside the box until you have some experience, I know skguides.com has a jr pro staff program that might be a place to start. I made alot of mistake's the first 15 year's in the sport and the biggest two was not going to college and trying to move too fast. now I'm 36 a 20 year tourney veteran and just in the last 3 year's started turning a profit and cashing check's regularly I have 6 very good sponsor's that I work very hard for, I've lost some very good sponsor's in the past because I simply didn't have the knowledge, discipline, and work ethic to apreciate what I had. I will give you an example I was with Gambler worms in the mid 90's I worked and fished with guy's like marty stone and Gerald Swindle before they made thier mark. these guys' understood what I didn't and in 1998 I lost Gambler it's in the past but I every now and again wonder what could have been Good luck and for now just have fun and rip lip's
  12. ipod lol ;D this thread is funny though because one of the thing's my fiance' got me for christmas is a full blown am/fm cd system for the boat. I'm pretty sure I didn't ask for it but oh well who am I to complain she fish's partner event's with me if it keep's her happy
  13. welcome triton21 hey I run one of those too caution though speak not of the baitmonkey for if you do he will ruin you and your wallet ;D
  14. these guy's are right about the bracket when You mount it if you tape the cord down your shaft like most of us do make sure you leave enough play where the bottom swivel's so you have full range of motion
  15. I pull my tr21 with a 1997 tahoe sport, that's the old two door full size blazer has a vortec v8 and a couple of my buddies have described it as a boat pulling mother &&&&&& I get 17 mpg with the boat on. It took me 4 month's to find one in the condition of mine last year and boy do I love it
  16. i'm a proponant of keeping the gps and sonar separate for one reason and I believe it has already been stated in this thread. if one part breaks they both do I run a garmin 72s mounted right next to my x71 it do's the job great and I have the piece of mind that if one breaks I still have the other
  17. I run the x71 on console and x135 on trolling motor one thing to remember Is you want a better unit on the front because that's where you're fishing no sense in having an extremely high resolute unit at console because it do's you no good at 70 mph but on the front you need to be able to see much more subtle changes as far as the eagle 480 there are actually 3 of them there is the fishmark 480 the fish elite 480 and the lms 480 all three are quality and the fishmark 480 for under 200 buck's is a great deal
