Have You Ever Noticed/
I used to do this all the time. Now, I just shut up, concentrate, fish my confidence baits and usually do well. It's hard to be disciplined when the guy in the front (or back) is smackin em and your just getting aggrevated.

Best Smallmouth Lake
I'd say Erie is the top in the country. Close to NYC it has to be Candlewood. The size and quantity are extremely good, considering it's a zoo. I think Terry Baksay still guides here.

Smallmouth in the weeds - how do you catch them?
4" worm, senko, small swim jig or tube
-
Bass in deeper water
If they're in the slop, why stop? Continue catching with the frog. If you want to try the outside edge in 10-15', try a 4" finesse worm on a slider or shakey head. Blue Fleck, Green Pumpkin or Red Shad are good colors.

night fishing tips
7-10" black power worms popper buzzbait jig bug repellent head light flashlight limit the # of rods and clutter on the deck. Make sure the directional light on the trolling motor works (this helps alot) Fish the same areas you would during the day, only check all depths. The other night I thought the fish would be shallow, but we had them in 12' all night on worms and jigs.

swim jig weight
I find a 1/4 is a good all around weight, but like jig man said,"you need a few different ones to see what works". I think a little heavier when swimming is better. It allows you to cover more depths and control the bait a little more.

spinnerbait

some fishing help please
Try a wacky rigged 3" senko or a tiny brush hog on a big bite jighead. My sons been knockin em dead on these. The water he's fishing is down 2' since the spring.

spinner/buzzbait trailers.........
Spinnerbaits, definitely, buzzbaits, not really. I like Zoom's split tail trailer, either in chart. or white. The Yum ones shown are pretty much the same as the Zoom. I don't see why the white/red wouldn't work. Doesn't hurt to try.

Drop Shotting?
Great information. Thanks. I read some of the articles also. Lots if great stuff. I'll definitely be experimenting more with this.

Drop Shotting?
Thanks for the replies. I'll check out the articles. Josh, were you hooking the fluke on a worm hook, or nose hooking. I was trying a Keitech yesterday, but was using a WG worm hook to make it wedless, I think this hurt the action.

Drop Shotting?
What exactly am I trying to do? Drag it, Shake it, bounce it or nothing at all. Thanks.

Suggestions for my first tournament?
I've seen this done. They keep the fish in a cooler with a small battery powered aerator. You have to ice and changed the water a lot though.

Comfort zone on a new lake
I also love fishing new water. Like Glenn said, map work is critical at first to avoid hazards. Next, fish what's comfortable. Start out with baits your comfortable with also. New waters are fun, do some exploring and you'll be surprised how fast you learn new stuff.

Favorite Jigs with Trailers

Fishing Spillways for Bass
x2 on the current breaks. Jigs, tubes and grubs are great river/spillway baits, also in line spinners and small crankbaits. Casting up current and letting the baits wash down have worked for me .
