  1. Wow, this post has been up for two hours. On other sites this would have caused a huge ruckus. Congratulations to the people here. Now to the question. I use what ever is on sale as long as it is TCW III. I have used, supertech, pennzoil, lubrimatic and others. Last year the local walmart had 1 gallon pennzoil and supertech on clearance for 2.99 a gallon. needless to say I have a few gallons laying around. take a look here http://www.nmma.org/certification/programs/oils/registeredoil.asp?y=TCW32008&s=Registrant you will see you makes or distributes the oil. you will see supertech is the same as others.
  2. It would take a lot of time for those to dry out naturally. Your best bet is to remove the water logged stuff and replace with new. From what I was told it is not the same stuff you can buy in the cans from hardware stores.
  3. Depends on what was done to it when put away. I just start it up an go fishing.
  4. Not to burst your bubble. You will not be able to mount enough solar panels on your canoe to make any difference to your run time.
  5. I get excellent use out of an ACDelco M27MF.
  6. I am one who believes that the trailer should be as level as possible when towing. Your method should work. Just make sure your trailer is level and on level ground when you measure the coupler.
  7. There are many ways to make a splice. You can use a butt splice, wire nuts, split bolt connectors or you can solder the joint. All are good and effective ways of making a splice. They also have different advantages and disadvantages. The main thing to remember is you need to seal the splice to keep moisture out. As long as you have a good mechanical and electrical connection and keep moisture out your connection will last a long time.
  8. should have posted this from the beginning. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/support/faq.asp?pg=general&lp=gb&pt=6
  9. That was me who said it was usually 10 gauge. You can tell by putting the stripped wire in a wire gauge. Or it may be printed on the insulation.
  10. I would not do it that way. because of the extra splicse and the fact you have small wire then big wire then small again. you may create an unacceptable voltage drop. what is the significance of keeping the end connectors?
  11. I would keep the amount of splices to a minimum. Every splice is a potential problem.
  12. Usually the wire on a trolling motor is 10 gauge. that will only work if you connect right to the battery. It is to small to use if you lengthen the wire at all.
  13. First choice someone who know how to weld thin aluminum. second choice. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=SEARCH-cat21324&id=0001390010655a&navCount=2&podId=0001390&parentId=cat21324&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21324&hasJS=true
  14. In lowes look in the section where they have all the cabinet knobs.
  15. any hardware store. lowes, home depot etc...
  16. True, Never thought someone will still be trying to use a battery from 1984.
  17. I do not know if this will help you here is a picture of my boat. A much bigger picture http://home.comcast.net/%7Eteam_dougherty/boat00.jpg an almost view from the top http://home.comcast.net/%7Eteam_dougherty/boat5.jpg
  18. That does look nice. I would imagine it would cause a lot of glare on the water. I hope the inside is not like that. Talk about a sun burn.
  19. The wire itself does not deteriorate per say. If the wire is really old. I am talking 50 years or so the insulation may have rotted and come off. with modern plastic insulation you should not have a problem. Where you may have an issue is if the connections where not properly protected. The exposed copper could corrode and become week and break. The corrosion can work its way up under the insulation and corrode the whole wire.
  20. here are a few other forms you may need. http://www.fish.state.pa.us/forms_boatreg.htm
  21. Oh yea, I forgot about those. My vehicles do not need them. I did have to put one in neighbors van so he could tow his jet ski. a sure way to tell if you need one is if your turn signals on the back are yellow. But they could be red as well. I used this one http://www.trailerwiring.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi?part=48915 They're others you can use.
  22. yes here is the PA form http://www.fish.state.pa.us/images/pages/forms/pfbc_r3.pdf
