  1. I am not sure. I remember reading about someone wanting to use it as flotation foam and called the manufacture who said not to use it as that because it would absorb water. I tried to find it but could not. I guess a phone call to who ever makes wouldn't hurt.
  2. Careful when using Great Stuff. I think it absorbs water. you need to use closed cell foam. I think Great Stuff is open cell foam.
  3. Outside storage, in my area, is $1.00 a foot in length per month. The measure from the end of the motor to the coupler on the trailer. They are behind a 10' chain link fence with razor wire on the top. There is 24x7 access provided by a keypad and electric opening gate. The also provide no insurance and usually require you have your own. Some have staff during regular business hours and some hours on weekends for new clients and customer service. Some of the better ones, that have sheds, also have security cameras around.
  4. Eagle sells that same unit in a portable model that runs on "D" cells. http://www.eaglenav.com/en/Products/Fishfinders/FishMark-320-Portable/ I would recommend getting a small gel cell battery and charger so you do not have to worry about acid spills. I would think using "D" cells would empty your wallet pretty quick. this battery should keep you on the water all day. http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/GC-1214/12-VOLT-12-AH-RECHARGEABLE-BATTERY/-/1.html this charger should keep your battery topped off when your not using it. http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/BC-212/12VDC-500MA-2-STAGE-CHARGER-FOR-LEAD-ACID-BATTERIES/-/1.html

  7. Check all connections, this includes fuses, inline and fuse blocks, make sure they are tight and not corroded. Also. Move the depth finders to your starting battery or their own battery. The trolling motor's electronics can interfere with your depth finders.
  8. i would use butt splices. Fill them with dielectric grease first or you can buy them with it already in there. make sure you seal them to keep water out.
  9. Yup, Just match the wire colors. You might want to straighten the bracket before you mount the light. Make sure you mount is correctly. the side marker goes to the outside.
  10. ditto I switched to LED trailer lights from Walmart and never looked back. I also switched to LED side markers. Never have to worry about broken bulbs again. You still have to be careful that you do not back into things.
  11. My guess would be how would you enforce it? How many boats have a speedometer? How many boats that have a speedometer, that is accurate? Would the police use radar to check your speed? If you are driving your boat with a 5 MPH current pushing you and your speedometer in your boat uses a pitot tube to indicate speed is showing you are moving 10 MPH, which happens to be the speed limit, a cop marks you with radar and it, the radar, says you are going 15 MPH, which you are, you will get a ticket for speeding. Even if the cop used the known distance between two points and a stop watch you will still be going 15 MPH. it is very hard to get accurate speed reading on the water. Now if you used a GPS on your boat to get speed and it said you were moving at 10 MPH that would be more accurate. Now just to make this post longer ;D. If you were heading against that 5 MPH current and your pitot tube speedometer said 10 MPH you are actually going 5 MPH. Now if that cop is in a boat with waves, current and wind. How would that affect his radar?
  12. Anytime, I am glad I could help you figure it out.

  14. OK. But is the center of your 12v outlet wired to the + side of the circuit. If your spotlight works that tells me the outlet is working. on a regular light bulb it does not matter where the + and - go. Your black light might have some kind of electronics,, a ballast, in it that is polarity sensitive and will not work if the center of your outlet is not +.
  15. does that motor have a thermostat?
  16. do you have the 12v outlet in your boat wired with the center to the positive of the battery?
  17. Push nut removal tool http://www.hubbardrapidtool.com/XPresspress.htm
  18. I would think a regular dehumidifier from lowes or some place would work well. I have one in my basement that self empties through a hose I leave in the sink. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=288371-70213-FDD25S1&lpage=none
  19. dualpro makes a portable charger http://www.dualpro.com/new/dpportable.html
  20. Tinned would be best. But I use just plain because I am not using my boat in salt water.
  21. Poachers, I would not go that far. No one said anything about keeping illegal fish.
  22. you can start with one of these battery boxes it has a 60 amp breaker built in. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/accessories/detail.asp?pg=powercenter you can mount the fuse block http://www.boatersworld.com/product/196977482msk.htm on the plywood on the transom. Keep it close to the battery. For fuse size I would use 10amp fuses with 16 gauge wire for your electronics. I would use 14 gauge wire and 15 amp fuses for bilge/livewell pumps. the switch panel can be mounted in a hole cut out of your bench seat. http://www.boatersworld.com/product/196901193msk.htm you can enclose all wire in a split loom. http://www.boatersworld.com/product/199326083msk.htm you do not have to use boaters world an automotive parts store should have everything, except the battery box with a circuit breaker. you can see my switch panel here http://home.comcast.net/~team_dougherty/boat5.jpg it is on the right side of the photo in front of the fuel tank. My fuse block is the black blur just above the fuel tank.
  23. Those data plates come off as easily as the stickers at times. Some times they are stickers.
