  1. I have the minnkota one. It holds my ACDelco M27MF just fine. I have had it for several years with out an issue. I bought it form here. check the reviews. http://www.boatersworld.com/product/369634514.htm
  2. So what is this exactly? I would just open it put the battery in there and be good to go? Yup, Just drop a battery in. The two terminals on the outside go to your trolling motor and are protected by a 60 amp breaker. There are two twelve volt outlets, one one each side, that are protected by a 15 amp breaker. On top is a battery gauge that tells you the state of charge at the push of a button.
  3. Has a 60 amp and a 15 amp breaker built in. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/accessories/battery/trolling_motor_power_center.aspx
  4. 50 amp manual for $10 http://store.solar-electric.com/30and50ampdc.html A more conventional looking breaker for $21. Needs a din rail for mounting http://store.solar-electric.com/squardqou60a.html
  5. The only thing that would concern me is interference on the fish finder when the trolling motor runs. if you can live with that you should be good.
  6. The reason the boat's helm is on the right side is to counter the torque of the prop in the water and to keep the boat level by using the drivers weight. cars in england, japan and austrailia steer from the right. Only because they drive on the left of the road and it gives the diver a better view of oncoming traffic.
  7. In my opinion. After a speedometer the trim gauge is the second worthless gauge on a boat. now to your issue. Does the potentiometer work? With the gauge hooked up can you manually turn the pot? Does the pot turn when the motor goes up and down? Did the pot come with the gauge or the motor? Maybe there is a wiring difference between Suzuki and Evinrude. If the gauge works as you say he issue is with the pot. Maybe the wiper has lost contact with the resistor wire.
  8. Does your boat have a tachometer? What RPMs is the motor turning at WOT? What HP is the motor. You will have a big performance hit adding three people to a boat. You may need to change to a smaller pitch prop with that increase in load.
  9. I have a 16' Crestliner. It will also float in very shallow water. I am also not afraid to bang into rocks or the bottom. here it is in about 6" of water. If you look at the water line it only goes down about another 2" with me in it.
  10. They make a big difference. I really like mine. do a search on here you will find a lot of posts about them.

  15. You may need a pair of amplified speakers like the ones for a PC. I have as set I use with an MP3 player on my boat that runs on batteries.
  16. comparing Tires to 2 cycle oil is like comparing apples to oranges.
  17. Looks like Citgo makes mercury's oil. See last page. http://wwwarchive.mercurymarine.com/uploads/1652/1734/091-0965K-16pt.pdf Do you think they make it different than the stuff they make and sell under their own name? http://www.docs.citgo.com/msds_pi/621602001.pdf Looks the same to me. Yamaha is made by Citgo as well. http://home.comcast.net/~team_dougherty/results/yamahamsds.pdf Is that different as well? I really do not think citgo makes different oil for each. They just put the same stuff in different bottles. I also think Yamaha, Mercury, OMC and other put their oil out to bid every year and who ever can sell it to them the cheapest get the contract. One year it is Citgo the next Texaco and maybe Chevron the year after that.
  18. Here is a website that has POIs for PNDs. there is an on going project where people summit just what you are looking for. You can download the file for use on your TomTom, Garmin, Magellan or any other PND. This one already has 144 ramps listed. Please sign up and you can add more. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/784 There also quite a few other POI files.
  19. It all depends on what kind of fishing you do. I find that the cable controlled motor respond much faster than the ones with an electric motor that rotates the unit. I do a lot of fishing in high current areas with lot of rocks and shallow areas and prefer the quicker response of a cable controlled unit.
  20. The can not say that. They can tell you that you need to use tcw III oil. They can not tell you, you need to use a particular name brand. please refer to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
  21. IF you know the part number for your prop you can get one off of ebay. I bought a few from iboats.com. But any marina or boat dealer can get one. I use this guy http://www.midwestpropeller.com/ for all my repairs. He sells new as well. You should really check what size prop you have and find out your WOT RPMs are. You may get better performance with different prop.
  22. 8 gauge minimum 6 gauge would be ideal. do not use the 12 gauge.
  23. Easy hook up. wrap the wire around one spark plug wire and the shield to ground. It even has an hour meter. http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach/gasoline.php
  24. Put your battery in one of these. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/accessories/battery/trolling_motor_power_center.aspx
