  1. great looking flathead. Do you ever do any noodling for them?
  2. Thanks for the comments folks. Nine miler, I was fishing at West lake Okoboji in NW Iowa, about 100 yards from where I caught that 47 in my avatar. Dwight, She's not a tiger, just nice markings, Btw, looks like you had a nice ski on your latest outing...44ish? Nice green coloring and a big head. Bluebasser, This is the time of year to start chasing them with better chances of a hook up, and I here De Terre is the place to get them in KS. My only advice is to make sure you are figure eighting on every cast. I have caught more that half of my fish on the 8. Good luck.

Took a break from the bass. It was a nice change. On the water at 5:30, in the net at 6:30. She ate on about the 2nd turn on the fig 8. Old school gold spooning it.
  4. I don't know how your lids open so it is hard to say but, I would almost bet that the ones I ordered would work for you, because you will more than likely have to order and install the mounting hardware. when you install the mounting hardware you could probably adjust the spread to work with most cylinders unless you purchased too short of cylinder. But again without knowing your boat, its wrong for me to guess. What do your springs currently mount to? The "gas" cylinders snap onto a little "ball". One on the bottom side of your lid and one on the inside of your compartment. If you already have the mounting balls, which you probably don't it would be easy to measure the "extended" length. Measuring the "closed" length will be a little more challenging. Get those 2 length and 40Lb lift rating and you should be good. the strut your stuff site has a page that will help you sized your cylinder. good luck
  5. This place might be a little closer to you: http://www.candomarineparts.com/GasSprings.html
  6. you don't happen to have a pic of this do you?
  7. Also here is an auction to the ones that fit my champion boat: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2ea-40LB-Gas-Strut-camper-top-glass-door-prop-17-2-set-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aa42a3e17QQitemZ320581811735QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories. They might be the same ones you need.
  8. I think you may be referring to "cylinders" that assist in opening your compartment doors and hold them open. If so, I just replaced mine. It was a peice of cake once I found them. There is a place on ebay that sell all kinds of gas cylinders. They were the lowest price I could find and had them within a week. Here is the link to there ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/strutyourstuffhere Just make sure you measure them correctly. I actually went to a little stronger lb. rating than my original equipment. Also I found if you find the auctions that offer 2 cylinders, they are your best deal. good luck
  9. Sweet!!!! Now get out and fish her!!
  10. Sorry to hijack the thread but, what damage could be cuased by not changing them regularly?
  11. I would throw a weightless 4" green senko t rigged, If that doesnt get them, try the fat ika, rigged skirt up.

  13. I thought it was a good deal....now my wife on the other hand.....
  14. Nice musky. I have always thought that the 30 to 40 inch fish were the most fiesty. He looks nice and thick too. I would bet the fish survived. A 30 inch fish bounces back a lot quicker say than a 45. When holding them you actually are grabbing their jaw bone or gill plate next to the gills. It is easiest to locate when slide your hand up under the gill slit right behind the mouth. Always try to ssupport the rest of the body with your other hand. As for the release, place them in the water holding them just in front of the tail. Lay them on their side slowly trying to resuscitate them with forward movement. When the turn upright, they will normally swim off.
  15. Had a few whiteys in the mix as well and this pig whitey.
  16. Finally had a chance to get out in my "new to me rig" and chase some smallies. And even more fun on the spinnerbait.
  17. my vote would be Minnkota, I have had both and prefer the MK. The motor guides have more lb to lb thrust in equal ratings and a smaller mount bracket for easier mounting. The Mks are more durable, more quiet, run better in weeds. I have heard they are better on battery life but, I had never noticed the difference. I recently just picked up a used champ 186 and it has a 50lb motor guide on it. I want to put an 80 Mk on it but it looks like I will have to move some things on the bow to make the Mk bracket fit. :-/
  18. After a year with no fishing boat, I am back on the water. Just picked up a used champ 186 elite with a 150 evindrude. She is a 94 and in great shape. Thanks to cart for all the advice.
  19. I like the fish, not so much for the shirt. Can't for the new big 10
  20. noway, How long have you had your r72? Any negatives with it?
  21. Guys thanks for the input. I have now been looking at a ranger cherokee 118. A little longer and narrower boat but, it is alumuminum. Any experience on these? Thanks
  22. If you are not afraid of going with used equipment I might start there. There are a lot of people upgrading to side imaging, both lowrance and h'bird. I know a guy who just upgraded and let some 2 year old gps, color units go for $150 each. Not that you need gps for your kyak but, I think there are some bargains to be had out there right now.
  23. no not kidding about hitting rocks....but just talking about the current pushing you up against the wing dikes and bumping the rocks. I had my eye on an r72, that was already scratched up...but guy just emailed me that it sold. I have thought about an aluminum boat but, I just like the platform and ride of glass better.
