Exclusive Interview with Gerald Swindle
Just another great interview. Thanks Glenn and Gerald. I felt like we were down in his basement just shooting the bull. Good Stuff. Glenn, you seem to have developed a good rapport with these guys that allows them to relax and tell it the waythey see it.

12 and 15lbers!!!!!
Great looking skis!! They are a blast aren't they. Did you have any trouble getting the hooks out of them? those boys can tear you up if you are not careful. Wait til you start buying musky baits....those can set you back a few greenbacks.

Just got back from my first Elite Series event!!!
Will, Thank you for taking the time to make the explanations. Interesting information, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. I would love to go be a co-angler in an event like that. Is that something that you just go sign up and pay for, or do you have to qualify for an event like that?

The name of the berekly one is called the "manic shad". I bought one the other day and tried it out yesterday. Was not too impressed with it. It seemed to have very inconsistent action. On one cast it would seem to work fine, then on the next cast it would start rolling over and spinning. I played around with the "bill" a little bit but, could not seem to find any consistencies as to what caused it to roll on some casts, wiggle and vibrate on another, and then do nothing on the next. Speed of retrieve had something to do with it. It seemed like I had to get it going just right and then try to maintain that speed to keep it working. Are the scrounger heads that sensitive?

Wow! sounds like an awesome experience. What do you mean by fishing efficiency? What were your daily bags?

Browns Lake - Iowa
Shad, thanks for the report. Sounds like a great trip. I have not tried Browns yet this year, due to the fish kill Rumors. Glad to know that it was not as reported earlier. Maybe i'll give it a try tomorrow.

best/funniest fishing saying
I like this one, I think it is by Red Adair, "I think that all fishermen are liars, except me and you, and I am beginning to wonder about you!"

What frog has the highest hookup ratio?
I am a fan of the Yum buzzfrog.

I'm Still Shaking...
My guess is a carp that you snagged in the tail or belly. I once snagged an approx 5lb carp in the tail belly...wow was that a ride. When you foul hook a fish in the belly or tail, they pull a lot harder.

New PB! Northern R.I. pays back big time!

New Ranger = NEW PB help with weight
Catt, I assume you are talking about a prespawn fish, or just trying to answer to my begging. Anyway, thanks for helping my ego ;D

What to do, What to do??
I am getting your weather today. If you like fishing in 35-40 degree temps with winds gusting to 35mph, oh and combine that with a mix of rain, sleet and snow. Then tomorrow will be fun for you. If not, save your gas, and spend some time with the little lady.

New Ranger = NEW PB help with weight
Guys, Thanks for the kind words but, I can't stop beating myself up over this fish's weight. This thing was a hair over 24" and fat. The lame pics do no justice either, note ( I am not holding that fish out, my right nuckle is on my chin). Ok, so I'm beggin here a little. : Question going out to all you guys who regularly catch big fish. RAndall, Fish Chris, four biz and any others I am not mentioning. What is the shortest DD any of you have caught? What would your typical 24" prespawn female weigh? I know, to a lot of you guys, this fish is not all that big, but for northwest Iowa, It may well be the biggest Bass I will ever catch. She is back swimming and I know where she lives but, who knows if she will be alive next year. She had to be fairly old. thanks Tut

New Ranger = NEW PB help with weight
Well my neighbor got a new Ranger Reatta and just had to get it out on the water today....And of course, I just had to go with him to see what these big $ rigs were all about. I have to say that It was a sweet ride with lots of space. It had a small rear deck but, a nice front deck. And of course, he got all these freebies with his new purchase, like a loomis rod, tackle bag, 25 new rapalas, ranger hats, tools and of course a scale but, do you think he remembered to bring the scale. Of course not. We had temps in the mid low 50's and 10-20mph winds. I was fishing A 1/2 oz black and blue jig, from KaRu lures. We only had our lines wet for about 15 minutes when my line got heavy and I set the hook on my new pb. The only camera we had was of course my cell phone and my partner managed to cut most of my head out. This fish was a hair over 24 inches and was a "toad". The fish calculator says a 24" bass weighs 7.86 lbs. This thing could have been pushing 10(in my dreams). A scale could have been handy today, atleast I got the length. Luckily his new boat had a built in tape right on the rear live well. Too bad I could not enter her in the state to state contest. With Iowas 10.75 state record I could have had a decent score. Well here she is anyway. By the way it was the only fish we caught today and it was all I needed.

If you could start over...
I second the comment about buying quality equipment, and if you are right handed and want to buy a baitcaster, get one with the reel on the left side. That is a true right handed reel. Don't go hawg wild on buying 800 different baits. Only buy ones that you see recommended(multiple times) on this site. As for fishing techniques, I can't theorize that it would make a difference learning one technique b4 another but, one of the best things I think I have learned from this site applies to almost every technique out there......and that is.......When fishing said bait(crank, jig, worm, spinnerbait, whatever bait), learn how that bait feels, when it hits the bottom ,rocks, wood ,weeds or whatever structure is on your lake, and when it feels different, that usually means fish, and it can also help you to not set the hook on a log or other snag. Knowing how your bait feels will help you detect subtle strikes. This is probably one of the biggest things I focus on. Happy learning and enjoy the process, I find it to be a fun part of the experience.

basser turned golfer and back
I too was a golf junkie for many years. I switched to fishing because I can go out and have a bad day of fishing and still have a wonderful day of outdoor enjoyment. Now I only play a few golf tourneys a year. With my 10 handicap , I get enough invites to "member guest" tourneys to play just as much as I want, with no pressure. My problem is that I am still struggling with my performance in fishing tourneys. I too suffer from a lot of anxiety the night b4 a fishing tournament. Golf doesn't do that to me anymore....which is another reason to give it up.

Falcon Jig Boxes
[quote author I did make sure that the weedguard was "locked" into place but still had several loose jigs just from the walk to the water. Also, it won't hold football jigs bigger than 1/2 oz, they are too big for the openings.
