Dwight great bunch of fish......again!!! How far up the water column do those fish move to eat your bait? I hope the weather continues to hold out so we can still see more of those hawgs.

Trolling Motor Help!!
I just recently went through the same dilemma on a 18.5 foot champion. Had a 55 lb motor guide with 42" shaft, went to a 70lb mk with 62" shaft. Had a Mk repair shop purchase and install a 54" shaft onto my 70lb Mk. If I do not put the TM all the way down, I hit it atleast once a day while casting. UUgh! Those turn out to be nasty backlashes if you were really loading up on a cast. But the 42 was not long enough for me when fishing rough water. It would keep popping out. I just have to remember to put in down when not fishing shallow water. It is a trade off but I needed more power and a longer shaft. Depending upon the year and model, you can shorten your existing shaft by cutting it, or you can just purchase the length you want and have it installed. If I recall, My MK rep said you can only shorten certain models. The cost of my new shaft was only like $40 for the shaft. good luck.

You know what I love about Mizzou fans?
Congrats to the Tigers on a great game against OU. There upcoming game against the Husker should be a good one but, I would give the edge to the tigers. The Huskers have not looked good at home this year. If missouri wins, they will more than likely have to play OU again in the Big 12 Championship.

New to me 97 Astro does this speed sound right?
I would definitly investigate a little more. I would almost guess that your 19p prop has been worked to a higher pitch or your tach is off. One or the other. I would want to nail that down, otherwise you could run the risk of over revving your engine. I am not an expert by any means but, from what I have read, a 150 would spin a 19p prop too fast.

A nice pair
Great fish as always Dwight!! Thanks for sharing. I like your "RW" pose. Do you have any length or weight measurements on those pigs? How deep of a jerkbait are they hitting?

Any bass flyfisherman here? Need suggestions
I'd be fishing a purple worm on any rod if I could catch fish like that. Very nice. Is it a worm and bare hook? Or does he add a bit of weight to get it down? He texas rigs it with 1/8 or 3/16th worm weight.

quick trip on the mo river
took a quick trip over lunch today. On the water a little more than an hour, had 5 in the boat and had atleast another 5 come unbottoned. Broke the string on the tm, the wind came up and we were gone. Here is the best one of the day.

Any bass flyfisherman here? Need suggestions
No help on where to buy the flies but, I will say that my regular fishing bud, is an old fly fisherman from Montana. He bass fishes with me now and still uses his fly rod. He gave up on the flies though. He throws nothing but a 7" purple worm. Here is one of his latest from about a month ago.

Removing the Motor Guide trolling motor mount from my Ranger
I have used those mounting isolaters. Easy to install. But they didn't last too long. I later went to through bolts with better success.

New to me 97 Astro does this speed sound right?
I have an 18.5 ft champion with a 150 hp erude on the back. I run 23 and 24p props and can get 58.6 gps at 5800. Red line for my motor is 5500. You might want to check yours before consistent 6000 rpm runs. I would say you are definitely under pitched. I would run 23 at a min and try a 24. Do you have a jackplate?

Dwight, Beuatiful fish as always. I wish I was closer to Erie. Thanks for sharing.

Who knew?
I have never caught any smallies on musky baits but have had them come charging 10" suicks. Now I have caught some nice largemouth on double 10's and 8" topwaters.

2 Smallies on 1 cast for the first time
