  1. In my area I use the smallest size swim bait made by storm, in a white or pearl color. I have more luck jigging it or slow yo yo ing.
  2. Leo, Great performance. Good luck with the state classic. I'm sure you will do fine.
  3. I would love to try out a couple of those as throw back baits on musky follows. Send me pm with pricing. thanks
  4. Congratulations and great job! I wish they would have had college fishing in my day. Enjoy those days.
  5. Great looking fish. I wish I lived closer to that area. It sounds like you guys are exploding with quality fish.
  6. I know it is not a winner but I thought I would enter one anyway. I thought I might have a shot in the smallie side being that the state record in South Dakota is only 6 lbs 9 oz BUT, Dwight set the bar pretty high. Nice fish Dwight!! Here is biggest smallie from today at 3 pound 2 oz. Score calclation 3.125/6.5625 = .4761 times 100 = total of 47.6.
  7. I honestly don't know exactly what he was throwing. It was gulp soft plastic minnow profile bait of some sort. I was throwing the creature and the flapping hawg. 2 Days later I went back and caught 19 in 90 minutes all on the flapping hawg.
  8. last one of the day right off the wing dike
  9. Finally got out on the Missouri River for some good smallie action. Caught about 20 in 2 hours with four 3 pounders as our biggest.
  10. It looks like he did you a favor. It also sound like he and his new partner were meant for each other. Keep fishing and be happy that they are donating to pot. Forget them and move on. Life is too short to waste energy on folks like that. I think I am out of cliches...oh, now go fish.

  12. Zona, If you are out there reading this??? Just because KVD is arguably the best of angler of all time, doesn't mean that you can't tell him to put the fish in the livewell. You would have won if you would have kept all your fish. Oh well....Those vests will look better on Skeet and Gerald anyway. I was pulling for ya.
  13. I'm in for smallies and largemouth for the states of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
  14. Adam, There are some big fish in that lake but, numbers are hard to come by. Weeds get pretty thick so, the best time to bank fish is early spring, unless you have a boat, (troll only). They have been stocking that lake for the past 7-10 years with trout, so I would not be surprised to see a state record come out of there. Gets very little pressure but, as I said, numbers of bass are low. Also some huge pike in there. I have a 21.5 ft boat which is a pain to get in and out of there. I have only put it in there one time and the weeds were so thick it overheated my tm trying to get back to the ramp. I do bank fish it in the spring over lunch hours on occasion, as I work nearby. I grew up just up the way from that lake, so I know all the countours fairly well. If you have a small craft and are looking for a partner, I would love to get out on it this spring. Rob
  15. Great story and an outstanding effort to see it through to the end. Many of folk would have thrown in the towel with as many obstacles as you two came up against. After the boat crash I would have had some real doubts about competing the second day. Congratulations. I admire your grit. You deserved 1st place.
  16. 6 more weeks for me too. I am getting the itch.
  17. congrats on your new pb. She is a beauty. I knew the cowgirl would pay off. Did you get her on the "8" or on the retrieve. Do you ever fish lake Freeman or Schaefer?
  18. Guys, Thanks for the kind words. That was my first cowgirl fish as well but, I hardly ever throw them. I have to say they made me a believer. I did not have it on that long before I got him. I have had a lot of followers this year on other baits that just wouldn't eat. This guy came up and followed a little lazy but, he liked it on the figure 8.
  19. I caught her on a cowgirl on the figure 8. She followed the bait in and ran under the boat. I started the fig 8 and she came back about 30 seconds later, got hot on it and ate it on the second turn. My partner caught a 37" the night before on top water. I once was working a sammy bass fishing one morning and had a big ski come and erupt right in front of me. After the water settled my sammy was laying 3 feet in front of me with about 10 inches of line still attached to it. The fish came back to take a look, saw me and was off in a flash. I was glad I got my sammy back. I was a little afraid to reach in and grab it though. I am not ready to "noodle" a musky.
  20. Recently I have been giving the bass a break and starting chasing these guys. Got this nice one this weekend.
  21. This tournament was cancelled due to lack of participation but, if they can get enough entries, it will be back on. Tournament date is still 8/24/08 (Sunday), blasting off out of Sioux City, IA. They have 11 entries and need 15 boats by 8/8/08 to make it happen. Entry fee is $100.00 per boat. (2 man teams and 7 fish limit). Entry fees for 15 boats must be received by 8/08/08. Checks can be made payable to Rivercade Bass Open and sent to: Rivercade BAss Open 5600 Harbor Drive Sioux City, IA 51111 Hope to see you there.
  22. go with the best..sufix
  23. Just a few that I know of. Where are you located at? I am down in Sioux City
  24. In my area that is typically white bass schooling and attacking bait fish. It is fun to throw your bait in those areas.
  25. Thanks for the review. I used to be a big fan of the buzzfrog because it sunk a little faster, which seemed to get me bigger fish when fishing under the docks. I'm happy to know that I was not just imagining that. On the down side of the "buzzfrog" I bought several bags of them last fall, and they must have been a bad batch because they did not swim right. I like the seizmic toad for slow sinkers and durability. I think I caught 8-10 fish on one frog alone.
