  1. One time in North GA,I was flyfishing for brook trout in a small stream that was maybe 6ft wide at the widest. Had what i thought a good bite on a wooly booger, short fight.....6" crawfish
  2. I left an old bottle of baitmate in my gheenoe and it got stepped on last time we used it duck hunting. Now I have this chartruese slime on the bottom of the boat. I know I am not only one this has happened too.Hosed as much out as i could. How do you get this stuff off of a smooth surface?
  3. I do it flyfishing or if the fish are really swallowing the bait. Otherwise I leave them alone....If money is on the line I dont suggest it, Ease of release isnt a good thing then
  4. An 8x8 room full of tackle bags, storage containers, and drawer storage Plus my dining room is set up for flytying, rods, reels, tournament gear and the lures I am using at that time of year.
  5. OL Nelle regular and broke-back(split-ring) buzzers are only one's I will use. The wire on the booyahs, war eagles are way to thick and the angle from the back of the buzzer to hook tip is too wide and allows them to get hung-up more.Might have something to do with where i use them though. I also like the way they run straight instead of at an angle. Not only do i like the added vibration of a lighter wire, but it has more give when fighting a fish as long as you are not really pulling on them you will not lose a fish or break the bait.
  6. Ol Nelle Booyah Homemade jig that tournament partner makes. Finnesse jigs by Spotsticker
  7. Got my PB 10.3lber last june on a black trick worm on a +100 acre public lake that shall remain nameless Have caught probably 50 other fish over 5lbs on a trick worm in the last 7 or 8 years.....
  8. There is a need for more shows similar to Espn's "A day on the lake" I get a lot more out of it than I do Dance. Also Bill Dance pushes the products of his sponsors as bad as any other fisherman on TV. Bassmasters is about only show that doesnt annoy me.
  9. water temp is one varible. Amount of sunlight per day is another trigger. Unless it is a small lake, fish will start spawning in the warmer water first , then the upper end on down. On the lake i fish, there will be different areas in different stages of spawn. There will be fish spawning from feb. to May and sometimes june.
  10. To say there is alot of over analyzation on this site would be an understatement :
  11. Chaco Chong Flipflops in the boat and Chaco sandels with the toe loop for wading, cant be beat. One pair is 7 or 8 years old now and still going strong. I wear the chongs everyday. If the soles or straps wear out, send them back for a quick, inexpensive repair. Google them, best sandels made. I also wear Nike air max when fishing from my own or buddies' bassboats back nor feet hurt as bad.
  12. Allstar TAS827C. you got to have a H or XH to get good hooksets. You dont have to have a Loomis to catch fish, that extra $200 doesnt make that much difference.
  13. I ended up with a TS 7' MH buying a used reel off of a friend. I hated the rod until I started throwing spinnerbaits and buzzbaits with it. Its great for what I use it for. Cant beat the action and cushion it provides.
  14. I think a New Member forum would be a really great addition to the forum lineup. A flyfishing forum I am a member of added a forum for new members and it really made the forum run much smoother. Anybody else agree?
  15. A smallie beaver on a spot remover jighead is good too.
  16. Replace the rear hooks on your shallow running cranks with red ones. You will be shocked at the increase in bites you get. The red hooks reflect light unlike dark or dull hook colors.
  17. Get the reference book, "flyfishing for dummies." Seriously a good book for a newbie. I used it alot when i was learning the basics. You need a 5 or 6 weight flyrod, 8.5 to 9 ft rod. Weightforward 6 wt. flyline. Some mono leaders. and a small assortment of warmwater flies. - or a handfull of chartuese poppers.
  18. Been using one with my smaller boats for years. I use an 8 ft long wooden 2x2. works great. Back when I duck hunted public land, I found all kinds of spawning habitat. Has paid off.
  19. A Bass club out of Athens, GA used to have a drawing at the meeting before each monthly tournament. They would draw one technique/lure out of the hat per person. If you drew a slip with C-rig written on it, you had to fish a C-rig only in the upcoming tournament. Too limiting IMHO. I think they were only trying to seem like they were so good they needed to impose handicaps on themselves. ;D
  20. It doesnt happen much, even more rarely when money is on the line. Today though I got a few bites but could not put one in the boat. I struggle in water 50 degrees or less. Not the way I wanted to start off the year fishing.
  21. 6'10" Team Allstar Heavy, extra fast tip. IMHO, the length gives you alot more leverage and power on hookset and feels and fishes better than a similar 7'.
  22. Check out the Team Allstar 827C. Its the rod i use for C-rigging. Its got a Heavy action with extra fast tip. Really sensitive rod.
  23. white, zoom fat albert single tail grub.
  24. I have one and would recomend going with a better built pontoon. Right after I got mine I had to call cabelas and get another set of inflatable inserts. THe inserts are of poor quality and dont hold air well. The stitching and zippers wear out pretty quick too. Worst of all after a few months use the plastic tubes that the ore pins fit into came all to pieces.
  25. Placed in a tournament this past spring, blindcasting t-rigged senko knockoffs to bedding areas and slowly dragging them back to the boat. Used 3/8 oz. tungsten weights to feel the bites. Dont know how we stumbled on the pattern, but it put a nice chunk of money in our pockets.
