Swimbaits and water clarity?
If you could pick other colors other than the natural ones, which would they be?
-
Zoom Super Speed Craw
Anybody using it yet? Just saw it the other day.

Least expensive lure, you have best luck with?
Edge Speed Fall worms- Senko knockoff that Walmart carried think they were 2.99 for 20 in a semi-hard plastic case. Great stick worm for c-rig and weighted t-rigging. Caught my PB spotted bass on one.

Swimbaits and water clarity?
Are swimbaits just a clear water type bait? Anybody have any luck in dirty water with them? If so what baits do you use?

How many
When I was younger and still vacationed with the family, They would go to beach. I would hit the surf and piers all day and into the night. Caught alot of trash fish. Then when i was in college i had the chance to go on several trips for different species.Caught some good fish, I think the ones I hooked and didnt catch really got me. In college, I flyfished for trout in the mountains of north ga and NC and bass everywhere. At one point I had been almost 5 years without using a spinning rod even. Moved back down here to the lake where I grew up after college and adapted my flyfishing.

To C-Rig or not?
DOnt think I would use it sight fishing unless they were deep fish i could see and i had tried other things. Use a shorter leader. I like 2 ft, 3 ft at the most. When you think about it, most of the time the weight is going to be riding through sediment and sand, therefore it sinks into the bottom and creates a disturbance that stirs up the bottom. Use a flourocarbon leader and a floating/slow-sinking worm or crawfish immitation. with a good slathering of scent on it....And you will get bit. A sweet beaver or something similar is really good too. as it has the profile of a bluegill.

Snaps on Spinner baits?
That is one thing I will never do. Using a snap with a jig. I had a guy fish with me that decided he would say he had no spinnerbaits since the fish were bending mine up :. Ruined 2 or 3 before I got really rude with him. If you also like loosing spinnerbaits on your cast, snaps are great too. ;D

what is your favorite band
Widespread Panic,Phish,The Grateful Dead, Moe.,Allman Bros.,Robert Randolph and the Family Band... as far as bands i listen to alot. Never played the same show twice, and most songs are a little different every time you see or here them live. WSP,Moe. encourage taping at their shows just like the dead did.

Shaky worms and jig heads
Bite-me heads are the best I have used. I consider a spot-remover a shakey head, Its more of a stand-up jig that has it place also. Which calls for a different fishing technique. I haven't found a way that a shakey-head(modifyed ballhead jig) doesnt work in when the bite gets tough. Netbait and zoom finesse worms work best for me.

for those that use snaps on cranks...
I use duolocks w/ the split ring....Sometimes I will even hook to the lure to give it a different action. Only had one snap break. That was after catching 25 keepers in 2 hours off of riprap and it broke from me trying to bend it back.

Suggestions needed for new sunglasses
Survival Optics sunglasses(SOS). Not expensive for the quality. They are assembled in Flordia i think. Great polarized glasses.

Least expensive lure, you have best luck with?
"Prototype" jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and soft plastics 8-). One of the perks of your fishing buddy(part-time tourney partner) owning a baitshop, making lures, and sponsoring you. ;D

To C-Rig or not?
Great cold front tactic during spawn. Never had a fish hit the weight. If there is brush near-by even better. I have had to use a C-rig on bedding fish. Its actually a pretty good blind casting techinique this time of year. Plus if you are fishing areas that drop off, you can make long cast and not only fish the bedding areas effectively but also any areas that fish may be staging or moved back to off the beds. This was the difference between a check or nothing last year during the spawn. It works well around seawalls that are a little deeper than normal. Or flats that border creek channels. A lizard, Large u-tail worm, or creature bait worms best. In the stained water i fish I use junebug/red/ black shad color always, green pumpkin if its a little clearer. I always use a 3/8 to 1/2 oz. tungsten wt. for this and at least a 15lb leader.
-
What is the most expensive lure you have?
Lucky Craft- sammies, flat cb's, g-splash, pointers... and some local handmades- Ole Woody's $12.50 but worth it.

How to fish a cold snap after bedding has started
T-rig soft plastic straight worm or senko.....w/ tungsten wt if they are biting light. Most of the time, they move no more than 6ft, most of the time less from the bed ,unless it a really big temp/pressure change that is really uncommon for this time of year that last more than a day or so. If they bed in more than 4 foot of water or more, I have actually seen them suspend above their beds for a short time i post frontal conditions. Slow-roll a Spinnerbait or squarebill crank if fish are feeding.

SOO still think a swimbait cant win a T?
Leave it to an Alabama Transplant from GA to go to Cali and whoop up on everybody....Steve grew up about 45 minutes from me. Funny how he got his start in muddy water. Glad to see you getting the free press, Matt. I read Kennedy spent $3000 on swimbaits since he has been out there. I dont know if the baits will be as big in the rest of the season though....Definately a clear water thing.

color choice in murkey water

I go local from the 2 decent shops we have here as much as possible. When I need certain stuff, I go to Bass Pro that is an hour away.Everything else i get from *** online. Have two academys within an hour but they dont have much fishing stuff.

how to make bass hit
cant let the fish see you no matter what or they will not bite.. Wearing clothing simliar to sky conditions and pond surroundings actually help.Trick worms on a flourocarbon leader...Senko might be falling too fast,..on spinning tackle... Lighter line, flourocarbon line...Go smaller or go bigger for reaction strike. I had the most luck in water like that with a flyrod. Not only can you present the bait quietly and unnoticecd by also the flies used for this type of fishing are so natural looking.Tournament trails here dont allow flyrods, I wonder why :
-
what is more important...
JIgs, T-rig,Crig,senko- The rod is important, which A good reel is too, to stand up to strain of landing fish that way. Spinnerbait, cranks, topwater- all that matters rodwise is your personal preference....I have expensive rods but i live a BPS tourney special for buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. But you got to have a quality reel or the wt of the lures and the amount of casting you do will kill a cheaper reel quick. I also suggest the Shimano Citica, Prollie the 100....Super light and smooth for the price. Rod wise- Check out the Daiwa Light and tough series. Super nice and light- $120

Bass are spawning whats do i do??
No problem with you Turtle know what you are saying.SOme others bash people when they ask how to bedfish, not should they : Fishing prespawn fish isnt a logical arguement,IMHO....Because I have caught my biggest bedders doing just that. Fishing staging areas. That is in fact where the pigs are. No sport????? : Ever try to catch a fish on an artificial lure in clear water? It aint easy especially if they aint hungry. :'( I tournament fish and if that is how you have to catch your biggest fish you got to do it, cause the competition is doing it to if it is working. If you can see they fish, They can see you :-[....Its a fact. 98% of the time, You wont get the to bite. To me sightfishing is one of the toughest scenarios there is. It aint as easy as it sounds.....They must use bows and spears in your neck of the woods when they go on bed ;D

Bass are spawning whats do i do??
Not much difference in hunting deer during the rut...or should you let them breed??????? GO HUG A TREE, much easier than huggin a bass : With this logic, You shouldnt fish for pre-spawners either.....because it is disturbing them from breeding, PLUS If you fish enough you will notice that the fish that we want to pass on DNA are spawning in 8-10 foot of water, so you shouldnt bother them fishing for pre-spawn fish.... NOone has asked whether or not they should fish for spawners... : Unless I am sightfishing,I like a T-rig senko, brush hog, Jig, spinnerbait...try it all.. let the fish tell you ....

Cutting in or invading space.
Less than 50 yards and you will get an earful. I wont start a confrontation but I will express my displeasure verbally. I have had homeowners cuss me out for fishing their docks, the same homeonwers that sit on there dock and report everyone that enters the cove for no wake violations whether they made wake or not, they then get in their ski-boat, cabin cruisers and the wake zones dont apply to them. People speed by me closely because they want to fish the point I am on. The best one though was this jerk on a jet ski was basically doing circles around me for fun and I started yelling at him after ignoring him didnt work, he follows me around hollering mfer at me. Then I went and started fishing a bridge/riprap and he starts running close up and down beside the bank i am fishing and my boat... Since as my luck would have it, DNR is never around...So i calmly tied on the biggest spinnerbait I had and started chunking it in his direction when he got close....After a near miss he left in a hurry.

What's with people Today?
I thought i had seen it all, until the end of last summer. I was fishing a large pond(15 acres and wide) from a boat. Across the lake I noticed 15 bank-fishermen whom I knew were trespassing . I caught 2 or 3 fish right off the bad and released them. I heard some of the people grumbling. Then I hooked up with a 3 or 4 lber and the loudest of the group gets louder. Then I released the fish and he went "NUTS". Started cussing at me from across the lake because I didnt bring him the fish.
