  1. Yes and that's like the only way to go in my eyes on a UL and pretty much any spinning reel. I just had my UL spooled with 10# and it has the diameter of 2# but just switched it out after I came across some new 5# power pro that's blue and meant for ice fishing I guess. It has the diameter of 1# so I don't think I can get any smaller. Twist will always kind of happen but try and use a swivel if you can to try and mitigate some of it. Trolling out your line works great but is not always a option and takes longer then just doing what Aaron Martins does. You can just do that only the fly any time you have twist building any it only takes seconds. One nice thing about braid is you can actually see the twist building and can gauge how bad it is. If you line looks super twisted spend the minute it takes to push the twist out before you end up with a ball of line and have to spend 10x the amount of time pulling it out. Hope you dont pull the wrong one and actually tie it into a knot. If that happens now it is going to take even longer lol. Not to mention you will cast much better with no twist in your line and everyone loves better casting. I will post it again for everyone if you haven't seen it. Btw I am not trying to somehow make it seems like Glens video and method is no good. Its just another way as not everyone will always have the option of trolling. I have no idea how to ember a youtube video right now. Sorry https://youtu.be/TNOfcZT-0JA
  2. Weedless shads actually come in 2 different ROF and they come in a 3 pack I think. Also with the hudds you can try a frog hook off the bottom ring and see how that works. I don't know how bad the weeds are though. Another thing that might help is pegging a bead a foot or better in front of it. That is for sure a great trick for catching slime so it doesn't gather up on the nose.
  3. I am not trying to hijack the thread but I am also looking for a new bag. Right now I am using that camp Plano bag that hold 4 3700 boxes, I don't know what model it is. I only got it last year and it's ripped and just doesn't hold enough stuff for me. I am also kind of over the shoulder strap as it can suck to carry and the bag weighs quite a bit. I want to get a backpack but can't really seem to find any that hold much more that is a backpack without spending a good deal on it. I was looking at the BPS bags as they are reasonably priced.
  4. There is a Aaron Martins video on how to remove it without needing to troll it out if you don't have a boat. It works great and I do it all the time even on the boat cause it's quick and easy.
  5. Probably a few. It's very doubtful they are BNIB and I am not sure the colors. Some might be also be SK or conversions. But they are around.
  6. Bubs punch rod. It's rated up to 2 oz but will easily go higher I was told. He said some of the guys throw a rigs with it. It's 8' with a moderate action and is perfect for all kinds of little swimbaits. It is probably awesome for almost everything if you tried. It is definetly a rod to look at.
  7. It's like such a waste to buy a rod for swimbaits that will only give you a slight increase in weight. You want to throw X swimbait that weighs 2 oz and you say "that's the heaviest I am going to ever throw" it's silly to buy a rod that says it's rated up to 2.5 or 3 oz. Just aboy everyone already has a rod that will throw 1.25-1.5 oz already and you are better off looking at rods that go something like 1-5 or something. You don't want to sell your self short on the rod. I would always take more power once baits start getting heavier then not enough. Casting a 1/8 oz on a flipping stick can be very difficult because it won't load the rod. Casting a 3 oz bait on a rod rated 4-8 or whatever is not the same. Obviously it is not ideal but just the shear weight of it alone will get you a ton of distance.
  8. That Rapala clackin rap if that's what it is are ok. Maybe that broke back floater also as I also think that's what it is. Pretty good pond baits. Pick up some good brands of soft plastics in a few styles like worms, creatures, tubes, craws, maybe some hollow swimbaits. Get some bullet weights in different sizes and also hooks. You will be good to go. Really all you need to catch fish os soft plastics. There is never a day you can't buy a bite on them if you really try. There not like other lures and will always catch fish. If I was ever having a bad day and or really wanted to catch a fish start tossing plastics.
  9. I kind of feel that way myself. I sort of stopped throwing spinners for a while and usually tossed chatterbaits. This year I found a local place to get all the materials for spinner really cheap. I started changing their things out on ones I already had or just making new ones to play with. Because it was something I made it makes me want to fish them. Being able to whip up any crazy blade combo and color ect on the fly is kinda cool. I can for sure say I can take a $.99 Walmart special and make it custom and out fish any name rand I might have only because of blade size, type, and color. I can't say it will catch more fish then a name brand that had the same everything but the blades, colors, even beads and the blade spacing seem to make a difference.
  10. I know. It would change your world if you knew.
  11. Well even if you did pick up a BNIB 250 as long as it's the new models it still won't break $100. You might get lucky and find a used OG for under a bill but that's would cut it close. You need to try harder or just buy stuff like everyone else and pay way more I really want to get a negotiator and those alwas break $100. I missed a custom like 2 weeks ago for like $70 I had it but my phone was dead and I couldn't charge it as work till I got off.
  12. You haven't gone over $100 yet? Well I know you probably should of by now. Your welcome for that I just dropped $132 on a BNIB OG flash carp 250 lol. I have been cleaning up lately.
  13. I see you do it backwards in a way. If I use a bead I leave a little play in the bobber stop for the weight so the tungsten makes a clacking noise on the bead.
  14. You know there are other models of a fiesta? Really I am referring to EU rally versions and they are not cheap. A ford fiesta also set the indoor speed record but that fiesta is a rally version and over 100k easy. I would take the fiesta over almost any porche.
  15. Are you saying you peg the bead also? Or just peg the bead and keep the weight free?
  16. I am not sure if it is really set back any more then a normal trigger. I didn't know the trigger was like that when I got the rod and was kinda bummed to not have the option to put your fingers different. If you try to not palm it the keeper will scratch you and its just way uncomfortable. I like instantly hated it because of the trigger I usually only full palm when fishing plastics/jigs and sometimes low resistance baits and for sure not 3+ oz baits. The first few times I used it I would pick it up and forget and split the trigger and you know instantly cause the keeper on the trigger but now I might almost like it better. It has the longer handle I can tuck and with your whole hand under the reel you can really pick up on it with force. Thats the only round reel I had sitting around so you can see for a example
  17. You kind of almost have to sometimes when fishing grass so it comes through better. I have for sure had my weight sepperate from the bait unpegged and can watch it happen in clear shallow water. Usually I keep bobber stops on my line if I had put one on that rod. If I don't plan to use it I will just slide it up a foot or so. Sometimes the stops will also grab slime or a bit of grass for you and not foul your lure so thats a plus.
  18. If I was looking for a new rod I would of definetly bought one. I almost did when I first saw this just cause it's such a deal. The only HM85 I have is the swimbait rod and I have had it since they came out. They are well made and rods and I jve had no complaints except originally because of how the trigger is on that model. Now I don't even notice it. I guess maybe the semi micro guides are kind of a complaint but they are not bad. I don't think I noticed anyone mention getting that rod but for $100 it's pretty hard to beat if you looking to throw baits up to 5oz I think it is. It makes a great small swimbait rod and is excellent for top hook baits as it can really drive home a hook. Sensitivity is great and that really helps when slow rolling a 68 ect.
  19. San Diego Jam for lures. Line type doesn't matter. Blood Knot or Uni to Uni for connecting lines. I rarely fish braid anymore since I started playing with the blood knot so it's easier to do a quick uni for a leader.
  20. There is a "best" line and it's called Tatsu. If you want to pony up that kind of $.
  21. I would say most people use a MH/F 6'6"-7' I myself am a fan of the moderate action with everything if possible. That being said I fish lots of grass and use whatever rod I need to. Swimjigs, swimbaits, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, blah, bablah, bablah. It's all the same. I use 12# CXX a lot but 10-15 is just fine for anything.
  22. As for suspend strips you can buy golf tape. Also sticky tack rocks on and can be useful.
  23. Where is it that you are fishing? The temperature did drop quite a lot for a couple days but now it is back to being hot and super humid as always.
  24. Google maps can be huge for finding new places. If you want to invest the time you can find a insane amount of possible places to check out. Once you find a spot street view if you can so you can actually see the water and get a assessment of it. I also use it to look for no fishing signs, private property ect. If I see those it's mostly a bust and no reason to mark it then and move on. Favorite all the potential spots you want to check out and you can load Google maps on your phone and have everything you marked. The account I used for marking places has so many spots marked it's silly. But it really pays off to be able to load it up and see there was spots I marked only 8 minutes away from some place I am at.
  25. I agree totally with everything you are saying. I originally got on the glass type rods throwing buzzfrogs. They just didn't always get it good enough or you get a good jerk and by the time you react they are long gone. I feel that sudden impact and I know they do also. By switching I have also gained casting distance and feel like the action on some lures benefit from the softer tip. I will still use graphite sometimes like you said fishing a trap in grass or with some bottom baits ect. But when fishing grass I will try a moderate rod first and if I can't clear it then I switch to graphite. I also have no issues driving a single hook home either. My drag is never loose enough to slip with carting gear on a hook set and hooks are plenty sharp. If anything I probably set to hard usually out of habit so it helps.
