  1. My only issue might be if I did happen to get a backlash and it got kinked in the spool somewhere and having my line break there later. That would be a problem for me but I think maybe I heard Tatsu can handle that. My very first cast with it after sitting on a reel unused for like 8 months started to spring up but nothing major. After it hit the water one tkne it all changed and it is perfect.
  2. It really makes a big difference with the rod you use on long casts fishing deeper depending on the bait. It really helps having that stiffer rod to drive a single hook home. With treble baits I like a slower action since you dont need to reel down and swing as hard as possible. I need to get a little stiffer rod for my biggest stuff since to me LDC's leave me wanting more power to drive a hook home at the end of a cast.but I make it work.
  3. I totally agree. I fished it again today for a little before it started to rain and I can with out a doubt say it is the finest line I have ever used. If I didnt get it for free I would of never tried it because of the price and thats a shame. Not to mention it was super windy today and the way it lays on the water was a big plus. I can get a massive curve in my line with launching big baits in the wind and the flouro was so much better. I am really considering switching some reels over to some other high end flouro.
  4. I would skip the HMX and go right to a HMG. The difference in price is only $10 and is a no brainier for such a minor price increase.
  5. I use a Diawa luna with 20# CXX and a LDC heavy for my heaviest stuff like a 250 or hudd. For baits with a jig hook lik a 68 I use a Lews HM85 swimbait road and for trebles like swaver 200 I use a LDC medium heavy.
  6. I don't know why everyone says keitech are not that durable. i think there durability is more then reasonable. They are way more durable then others like a shadalicious but they are far from basstrix durability. Use a screw lock hook and use a drop of superglue so it doesn't pull out.
  7. It all depends on the day and how they want it. In grass hopping it up out of it or jerking it works well. If it is more open adding pauses and some quick turns of the handle work great. You can also just drag them along the bottom. There is really no wrong way to fish them.
  8. So this might sound weird but do the minus 1's have a special kind of paint or something on them? I ask this because when bank fishing I will toss a few lures in a empty plastics bag and take a little walk. Well for some reason when they are in a bag with plastics and other stuff they turn sticky all over them. Out of the million other baits I have done the same with it only happens to those.
  9. That is my #1 line and I agree it gets better after fishing it for a bit and L&L works wonders also of course but its not flouro. I have only dabbled with flouro a little bit and Tatsu was far superior. It just handled perfectly right off the reel and casts great. I really liked throwing glides on it and could tell a difference in them over CXX.
  10. I used Tatsu for the first time today. It was put on the reel at the end of summer and never used till today. It just sat in a closet forgoten about and you would never know it was on the reel since like September. It was absolutely flawless and the casting and sensitivity are excellent. The line was either 15 or 17# but it seems very thin although I use lots of thick lines like CXX. I didn't fish it a ton but but any other line except braid I would of no doubt had to take off but Tatsu seemed like I could fish it till I ran out of line. I was pretty impressed with it really. I don't know about $40 impressed cause it was free but it might be something I would consider after using it.
  11. Ya I agree. I have never actually measured my casts but I would imagine I must be doing 60+ yard with traps all day then
  12. I just saw at dicks today a combo. It was a pflueger supreme and a Abu rod I nothing for $89
  13. There are plenty of swimbaits who use abu's they are super tuff and good reels. I mean not Calcutta or pluton good but plenty fine. They are very easy to repair and I am talking about reels with a normal thumbar and not clicker. I would always use my Luna over any of those abu's but they work good even so and are dirt cheap. As for the guy with a zebco there is a guy around here who slays some musky and other big fish with a 404 all day. It's more about technique and knowledge then anything.
  14. They really should automatically add dates to reviews on TW btw. That's one thing I never liked and also there is not really any sorting options.

It's basically just a splitshot rig. You can just throw a few shots on your line instead but it's not as weedless and even less so if they have the tabs on them. It kills dead summer in grass cause it stays above it and you can slowly drag a finesse worm or something similar.
  16. If you only even have a cranking stick then use that if you can. I try to use rods with a slower action as much as possible for anything moving. I can say for sure it has also dropped my number of fish that get off tremendously also. Once they are hooked they stay on there.
  17. 40 yards on weightless plastics? Also know as 120'
  18. One thing about them is lots of parts are interchangeable and they are super upgradable. Not to mention parts for them are super easy to come by if you ever needed them. I would rather take these reels over a Cardiff or something. You eventually get used to a round reel and they palm easily enough and I don't have giant hands. That was one thing I was worried about back in the day when switching to a round reel but they just fit on the rods I use them for.
  19. I was just looking for the reels to put on unused swimbait rods. You could use them for deep divers also. You could probably bomb a carolina rig way out them and wouldnt be to bad if you get one thats 6:4 or higher. Anything you need big line / lots of line and need to cast far. I just found a BNIB C4-5600 for $65 shipped that I am about to buy. That is a hell of a deal.
  20. So I was looking for a Abu C3 or something similar a little while back to put o a extra swimbait rod I wasn't using. I ended up finding one and now I am looking for another. It is hard to beat them when they can be had used for $40-50. I don't really have much luck finding them on traditional bass site or even swimbait sites but then it hit me. Catfishing sites are absolutely loaded with them for cheap. You would think there is some kind of law that you can only use Abu's cause its all you see. So for people who make these swimbait threads or need another reel for bigbaits or whatever go find a catfishing forum. There is nothing wrong with throwing them on a C3, C4 or whatever. They have been around forever cause they last forever. There is also tons of monster catfish rods I don't know how weel that would work for big swimbaits ect but I am sure plenty are heavy enough to throw some pretty seruious baits. You could score a whole setup for super cheap and if it turns out you dont dig it and its not for you at least you didn't drop a bunch of money to find out.
  21. The HMG's are quality rods
  22. Pflueger President Fenwick HMG
  23. I have used them before and they will catch fish. I am just not a fan of them though. You can peel off the outer layer around the tail to make them kick easier btw.
  24. Roll cast it to load the rod but do it gently. Swing the bait side arm over the rod in a circular motion. If you have a jerky cast or snap your wrist your asking for trouble when your just starting.
  25. I am not sure what the limit in Ohio is that you are allowed to posses and if there even is one. It is very common practice that people catch a limit of perch or walleye and freeze it for later. As far as I know there is nothing wrong with that as long as you follow regulations on the daily limit. Lots of my family members do that and will have bags and bags of fish as the year goes on and throw a big fish fry later or give some to people ect.
