Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
The insurance deductibles are killing me, Rhino. I'm in a bit of a hole now between my knee and the rest my family. Generally we're not in the hospital, but 2015 turned out to be a freakish year for us.

That's just it, the MRI didn't show much, maybe a partial tear, but he didn't think it was prudent to go in there based on the images. He did say that it really is hard to tell unless he did go in there. Very confused. I just want to be able to exercise without having to think about it. Some days I feel good and then I get on the treadmill or go for a run, my knee feels like its giving out or I have poor form and have to stop and do something else. Glad it went well for you Tom, I'm sure you'll be pain free in no time.

Good to hear Tom! MRI results came back not as bad as originally thought, but there's still something going on there. He's recommending a cortisone shot and leaving the meniscus alone for now. i don't know. I've been working out, but no where near the intensity I would like, walking better with minor/bearable ache. Not sure what to do. His advice, let the pain be your guide. i gained some holiday pounds and I'm hoping to lose them plus a few more. I'll wait and see where my knee is at in a couple of months to make a decision.

Finally!
Changed my routine up a bit since my knee issues which started in October. I'm doing more circuit training with the weights and have had to cut back on cardio until something gets resolved. The nice thing about circuit training is that it will leave you gassed when your done. I'm at it for 5 days a week and now that the holidays are over I'm getting back to good eating habits.

One Lure Only
Every year this subject comes up and I wished I booked marked them, I know I have a different answer for the 5 or 6 years I've been answering this: I've caught 12 different species with a lipless crank which includes saltwater. To me a lipless crank is the most versatile bait out there. As for a freshwater bass fishing site and thread, here's my lure of choice.

Redfish Spinnerbaits for Bass???
I hate to admit this, I never fished a beetle spin.

Redfish Spinnerbaits for Bass???
In my experience, they provide more vibration and really come thru weeds really well. I know some may disagree with me with that statement, but I've caught 3 to 1 on a short arm than a long arm and don't use them as a technique specific lure. I also think that the bait doesn't turn over as easy because the torque is closer to the arm (axis of rotation) and further away from the head. Again, my opinion and based on my observations. Good luck my friend and lets us know your thoughts.

I wish you didn't say that, that means we'll get clobbered up here...LOL...Thanks a lot buddy!

your experience with suspending jerkbaits
deep is on point: The colder the water, the more weight needed to make the lure suspend. No jerkbait is a "true" suspender...way too many variables. My ideal jerkbait will get down about 8 feet and will lie at a 2:30/8:30 position for a few seconds after a twitch and then SLOWLY rise.

Redfish Spinnerbaits for Bass???
They've been around for a while and really excel in a helicopter type presentation, but I fished them every way imaginable. I love them. Check out Stan Sloane's (god rest his soul) Zorrow baits. His long arm spinnerbaits accounted for the first, or one of the first, Bassmaster wins. I think it was Bob Murray who used the long arm baits to win the classic. Anyway, check out their short arm spinnerbaits to give you an idea of what I mean by bending the arm at the head.

ken cook
Sad news indeed. I learned a lot about spinnerbait fishing from reading articles about him. Had followed him on FB when my account was active. He was a great outdoorsman and a better family man.

Redfish Spinnerbaits for Bass???
Kind of like a short arm spinnerbait. I have great success with short arm spinnerbaits more than regular ones. You may want to bend the arm up at between the head and r-bend to get the bait to plane over obstructions, IMHO. You can always put a skirt on it if the swim bait don't work for you. Try em out and let us know.

I personally don't mind when Dave is wrong sometime. I like his track record, it gets me mentally ready for a snow event, but being wrong doesn't make me lose sleep.

Gary Yamamoto hard baits?
I never bought into "rules" for any type of lure and with the case of jerkbaits as to tail down, nose up, slow fall, slow rise, fast fall or rise...I think and read that they all have their day in the sun. I personally like a more horizontal - 2:30/8:30 position - suspended and based on water temps and, to some degree, outside air temps, a slow rise would be my ideal jerkbait for winter bassn.

Gary Yamamoto hard baits?
I noticed the same at my local Dick's Sports stores. I was looking at some of the jerkbaits and lipless cranks, but wanted to get some feedback. Thanks for starting this thread!
