I like it. Totally unique. I've been fooling around with a couple of different things as well. Just some modifications to spinnerbaits that really changes the lure. So yeah, you're right, the cabin fever here in the northeast has had my mind brainstorming as well, not just because of the winter months, but because of an impending lead ban we face in 2012.

I go as soon as I possibly can. I'm like Goose in the respect that I keep it pretty local for the same reasons. Last year was the best ice out fishing I've experienced in all the time I have been fishing. Heading into the week prior to ice out we got really warm days with flooding rain. The rain not only melted the ice, but helped warm the water considerably. Fish came in shallow within a couple of days after ice out and there were a lot of big fish mixed in. I ended up getting my PB LMB for the year during that period.

The thing that gets me is lending tools to peeps and a month later I have to go get it back only to hear "oh, I didn't think you needed it so soon".

Looking forward to seeing them, GMAN, especially that bluegill spinnerbait. I may have to make 1 of those bluegills up before my season starts.

Without know what your water temps are, but, IMHO, I would look for structure adjacent to deep water - points and channels come immediately to mind. Look for sun soaked rocky/sandy shores and like Gangley mnetion, the inside weed edges. I wouldn't overlook the fact the surface temps to about a foot deep could be a lot warmer than the rest of the water column, especially later in the day. I would try a tandem spinnerbait or a shallow running crank just below the surface. Good luck.

Just be careful with the blade, different size blades for different head weights. Janns pretty much tells you what blades go where. I have 2-wing delta blades for 1/4 oz buzzbaits, rivets and beads I can send down to you if you want? I have more than I'll ever use, so you can have a few.

You look like you need a good buzzbait, GMAN... I just finished a couple of spinnerbaits for me and the little guy last weekend and now he wants a buzzbait. So I guess I'll be putting a couple together on Saturday after his hockey game. Good luck

I try to look for warmer waters first. That could be a rocky sun soaked bank, whatever vegetation left over from last year, water draining into the body of water preferably from lowland drainage just something that could be like a 5* difference than the rest of the lake. You can go finesse like Missouribassman95 mentioned but I don't rule out slow rolling heavy spinnerbaits, cranks and lipless cranks either. Mid-day is usually better than mornings.

I'm with you there. The old Radica Lunker Bass Fishin game is starting to look like an option.

IMHO, if the stained lake is stained/muddy due to run-off and that lake is usually clear lake then your better bite would be on the clear lake, but if it's usaully stained/muddy then flip a coin.
