  1. It was around the 13th last year.
  2. I can't figure out how they stay in business. Their Pro Staff is HUGE, and everyone I know that has a Denali got it from one of the Pro Staffers (large discount off retail). The few dealers I have seen aren't selling them because the Pro Staffers are hooking everyone up. If they are making enough money to stay in business, it tells me they are very over priced,.or have a business model that doesn't rely on brick and mortar stores to sell their products. I've used the Rosewood Jerkbait rod, Rosewood 7' MHxf , and Jadewood 7' Mm. Jadewood was ok, didn't feel the Rosewood models were worth.the $180-190 they charge. Daiwa Tatula rods, St Croix Avid and Shimano Crucial are great rods in the $120-190 range. My boring old Avid 70MHF blows away the Rosewood 7' I tried.
  3. I know. All swing impacts roll weightless. Just referring to the mention of the weightless Keitech on their website.
  4. The Keitech website has it rigged in such a manner that it looks weightless, but there are 2 nail weights in the belly of the bait. Sort of pointless to me, the last thing I want to do is puncture a really soft bait more than needed.
  5. Carolina Rig. Big (smart) fish inherently do the most for least. Most calories taken in for least calories expended. I can verify and swear that big smallies will crush a super spook, 4.8" Keitech, or big pointer. However dragging a little craw across a hard bottom is like an M&M dish on your coffee table. They're going to be eaten even if you are not hungry.
  6. Starts with Stra ends in dic. Shimano Stradic in any of its iterations is tough to argue against. Staying closer to $100 the previous generation of Shimano SSaros is awesome.
  7. A Medium XF spinning rod with light braid is my favorite set up for senkos, ikas, and other weightless plastics.
  8. Kicker Fish is really close. Used them side by side and the tail action is identical, Keitech has more of the head wag. Kicker Fish is better for jigheads/ Swimjigs.
  9. Ghost Minnow and Chartreuse Shad
  10. Offensive Post DELETE this, totally out of line talking about my set up! You forgot the 14-16lb Fluoro part! My Avitar is a 5.46 and 4.75 from a 20lb bag I got on this set up working weedlines. Mend-It is an absolute must, I am going through 5-8 baits a tournament, but able to revive 80% of them once I get home and Mend them.
  11. 5.25lbs 24" on a Tiny Torpedo. This year I am extremely fortunate to have 5 over 5lbs. Champlain Smallies are getting HUGE on the Alewifes I'm going to go to Simcoe in 2016. I will have to try that Weber place, with a name like that...

You misunderstood... I am asking in damm007's thread about a product he wasn't talking about at that point. I'm truly interested in what people have to say about the Academy Gear.

Sort of a hijack... well actually a total hijacking... does anyone actually own/use the academy bibs?
  14. Powell Diesel 765 at TW is 50 something dollars now with a labor day sale coming soon. I like mine for flip/Pitch duty.
  15. I have 2 Ballistics. One is stock. One has orange seals (abec 7) and an MX spool, which is supposed to be very similar to the 1016. BOTH have level wind and drive shaft bearings added. I swapped the spools back and forth between the two and found that obviously the upgraded reel casted better by about 15ft. Putting the MX spool in the stock reel had a 10ft increase over the stock spool. Spools make a much bigger difference in performance.
  16. Grouper eats 4ft shark in one bite:
  17. It was a joke...
  18. Oh now DTack has to go and get reasonable and well thought out...
  19. St Croix Avid 7'0" MH fast. They can be found fairly often for $100-125 used. Sales are coming up so new ones will be $160ish. I have 3 Phenix Recons including a 715, the equivalent to a MH St Croix. I like my used old Avid more than the Recons for jig/big single hook baits.
  20. Charlie Moore. Or: Clunn, KVD or Mr Houston.
  21. Shhhhhhhhhh. About the senkos. Whiskey River whiptails The teeny Keitech Swing Impact Strike King finesse worms when the rock bass/perch are around.
  22. Sniper for cast and retrieve baits (chatter/spinner baits, swimbaits, cranks). Abrazx for dragging or pick apart type fishing (amazing for Carolina Rig, Jigs, Flip/Pitch).
  23. If it's steel it can't be anodized. If it's aluminum it it would groove like Otis Redding. It's probably steel... keep an eye on the Japanese tackle stores, one would show up eventually.
  24. I have the 7' ul moderate with a 1000 Saros. Fantastic rod for fishing tiny treble baits. Moderate helps with tearing the thin mouths on crappie.
