  1. Mike I'll send you mine.
  2. I hated the Strike King KVD jerkbaits. Very inconsistent (float, suspend, sink, sink fast). Between the 2 it has to be the X Rap. I would say that the Lucky Craft Pointer is the best overall... Right now the 100 and 78 sizes can be found at DSG for ~$5 each on clearence. I have 2 dozen pointers and have never paid more than $6 for one.
  3. Up here one of the HOT DS baits are tiny Crappie or Ice Fishing Plastics.
  4. Cordell Wally Diver is very similar and an awesome bait.
  5. I do have a 70MHf Avid already and I love it. So I have BIG hands and was a bit concerned with the LTB grip. So now which Avid...
  6. So I have a broken Avid and am thinking of doing the upgrade program to a Tournament Bass model. For those of you who have fished both, is the performance difference worth the $$$? I'm looking at the following models Avid X 7'4 Avid 70MHxf Tournament Bass 7'3"MHf (Carolina Rig)
  7. Kicker Fish are the closest to the S.I.F. that I have found. Very very similar bait, just a bit firmer and no squidiness.
  8. Duo Realis Spinbait 80 and G Fix 80. Let the guy in the front of the boat toss drop shots, co anglers need to try these... Biffle Type Head with a Big Bite Baits Real Deal Craw.
  9. It's Kistler's Carbon Steel rod with a Push Up Bra and Lip Stick (a dressed up Carbon Steel). It's not the worst rod out there for $100 but that particular blank is sort of a Ham Sandwich... Not great, not bad, just sort of servicable.
  10. I just do it for any used reel.
  11. Cabelas Tourney Trail Cork 7'6" XH for $40 right now. Used Abu Garcia 5500 C3. for $40-50. Carbontex Drag $8 Spool of 20lb Maxima or CXX $12 ~$100 for a whole set up that will handle 6" Hudds/Spros/Punkers up to 8" Hudds/Punkers Save your Tatula for another rig with regular sized stuff.
  12. My daughter potty trained to the BPS Catalog. It is now a fixture in there...
  13. They are heavy compared to the Veritas, Lamiglas Excel 2, ***, BPS Carbonlite,
  14. I've used several mojos and other St Croix models. If it were me and I had $100 for a reel and a mojo... I would get the 6'8" Medium X-fast model with Shimano Sahara (previous model) off eBay and have enough $ for a spool of Sunrise SX braid. There is something special about the 6'8" MXF St. Croixs
  15. A Shimano Sonora or Sedona 2500 would be perfect for that rod. Pflueger President in the 25 size is also popular. If you want a bit higher end and want to do some searching the previous generation Shimano Saros is awesome as are the Daiwa Advantage and Tierra Spinning reels (2000 size) can all be bought used for $60-85). I've owned a ton of spinning reels (all that I have mentioned and more). The Sonora is my favorite for $ to performance. The only meh part is the purple rod with an orange reel unless you're a Pheonix Suns fan.
  16. I got 2 Cumaras for $151 total, this past week! Brand New!
  17. Fat Ika. Nice little dense nugget that just goes where you want it.
  18. Even the 300 sized Lexa for a little less coin than the Tatula. I have purchased used Cardiff 300's for $65 Abu 5500's for like $30. Used Lexa 300's are around $110.
  19. They work, but it certainly is a very finese fight once you get a big one on. LONG cast... count down 20 ft... fish hits 3 cranks in... curse at yourself for the next 5 minutes as you try to reel in 5lb+ smallie with 6lb Flouro on a ML spinning rod with a 1000 sized reel... Yep, they work.
  20. It's a grey version of the Aird rod. 6'6" Mf is a fantastic Jerkbait and Topwater rod. I got mine for $30 @ Wal-Mart too.
  21. As odd as this is going to sound. October 19th we had a tournament out of Malletts Bay... 57-58 degree water. Smallies still haven't moved up to the shallows... They're still being caught in 37' of water. The water is still really warm for this time of year. We clobbered the smallies on Jerkbaits in 14'. Some Carolina Rig fish in 20+'
  22. PM me. I live just north of Burlington and grew up there. I'll get you my email to pass on to him. There are some AMAZING spot around Burlington to hit.
