Best Rod Quality Vs. Customer Service/warranty
Lamiglas is also pretty sweet. Some models are one year (lower end) and others are lifetime. If you break it it's a $20 fee to cover the shipping, etc. If it breaks for a "duh" reason you do the "Fast Track" and it's $50 and they send you another rod. I broke an early production run Excel 734 and got an Excel II 735 as a replacement, they let me choose the model I wanted in the line up. I broke a 1st generation Phenix Recon and got to talking to the warranty guy there about it, ended up talking about life, our jobs, etc... They were very honest about their rods which was very refreshing and almost "fun" to deal with (the warranty guy had to call me and when I picked the phone up he pranked me pretty good about stuff related to my line of work). It was $50 and I got a Recon2 back asap. I'll take an awesome rod with a 1 year warranty over a lifetime warrantied average rod every day of the week.

Beginner Tongue Jack Question.
Got my first boat, a big tin (18.5', ~1500lbs, 115hp Merc). The current jack is done... rusted and has a bend/twist to it. I am looking at replacements and see them rated to different weights. Do I need to go to the 1500lb rating? Or since the vast majority of the weight is on the axle/tires, can I use one rated to say 700 or 1000lbs? Thanks all.

St Croix Mojo Vs Premier
Well that's exactly what I am saying though (probably not clearly, damned cold)... IF everything is the same (scrim/resin/etc.) and the rods are produced with much cheaper labor, then they have to be shipped back to the US and take into account "styling upcharge"... The result is $10 more at retail (maybe 20-25 on the wholesale level) it doesn't seem worth it for them to do, especially with the notion of buy American vs Not. Now if the resin and scrim were different and cheaper then it would make more sense (decreasing the production costs and increasing the margins).

St Croix Mojo Vs Premier
The only similarity that is mentioned by St. Croix between the two is the SCII graphite. The resins, scrim, etc. could be different as well. I would guess one of those is different, when the mojo first came out it was the same price or like $10 more. Now when production is moved to/set up in Mexico it has to have a reason to go there, if everything were truly the same between the two blanks it wouldn't make sense to send them over there for a $10 retail difference. Has to be something different (aside from guides, and reel seat, etc).

Curado "i"
I haven't seen it personally, poached that picture from somewhere else. Dwight is right about the HG/High Gear. Shimano uses A LOT of the same acronyms and names in their cycling and fishing stuff and sometimes I forget which is which (HG in cycling is the tooth profile of the rear cogs/gearing) my mistake. Cheaper probably due to (purely MY Speculation) graphite sideplates or somthing similar and the Chronarch having the sexy "Carbon/Composite" materials (IE charge more for the sexy named materials). Also appears to have the same form as Metanium and Ci+4 models so developing costs of the molds/machining is much lower for many of the components used. It is officially the Curado "I" Eye, Aye, i
