  1. Club needs more non boaters, so everyone has a partner and then add $5 to the entry for everyone. That extra pot is for the winning team that day. We do that in our club (30+ members) & in the four years (two as president) we've never had an issue with being back boated. In lue of adding members keep the $5 per team and give the total for the year to the boater that had the best results for his non boaters. That's a couple hundred and could be enough incentive.
  2. I've used both filler spool fluoro (Sniper, Super FC, Abrazx, Stren, Berkley 100%) and leader material (Seaguar and Orvis). The leader material is way more abrasion resistant and feels like it has less stretch (to me) than filler spool/main line fluoro. It's more $$ per foot (because it's fly fishing...) but I like the little spools for fitting into my bag and the abrassion resistance is huge for me up here (rocks, zebra mussels, Pike, stalky weeds/grass, wood). I haven't notices any difference in knot strength or random break offs between the 2.
  3. They feel like a weighted vest on and are HOT. In Alabama he'd die in them. Yes I've tried them.
  4. I've caught some big girls right in 2-6' of water. On one local spot (on a huge lake) they are insanely common, to the point of driving the commercial fishermen nuts! They like to stay in the health green weeds and just ambush, as the weeds die off they move deeper. I've seen a ton caught on light sunfish type set ups (tiny jig with a wax worm). Perch and Pickrel move more than Bass in cold water so they often show up to the live bait first, just the way it is.
  5. I marked the current flows with Maroon arrows or circles. I'd fish the light blue spots and the cribs as well. I'd Carolina Rig the random humps (20-30' in the middle of the lake) during the summer. I found this map of your lake: Click on map and drag... http://dnr.wi.gov/lakes/lakepages/LakeDetail.aspx?wbic=2152600&page=map There's a lot more fishable area in the NE and NW corners. It's a typical Northern Lake as far as fish are concerned. Fish Walleye (Abundant) Smallmouth Bass (Common) Catfish (Common) Musky (Present) Panfish (Present) Largemouth Bass (Present) Northern Pike (Present) Sturgeon (Present)
  6. Counting rubber, weed guard, paint... 3 grams (Drops Mic and walks off stage)
  7. I use a BPS Pro Qualifier bag it holds 4-5 3600 boxes, Falcon Spinnerbait box, a worm wrap, smaller pockets hold pliers, wacky tool, spike it markers, sharpie, spare spinning spool, drop shot leader roll, Carolina rig roll, scale and leader material(0X fly fishing fluoro). I usually do a 3601 (skinny one)for the terminal tackle I'll need that day, the binder is drop shot, shaky, and senko/ika baits (bait I'd use on a spinning rod). A 3600 with flipping and t&c-rig baits, a 3600 for jigs and trailers, a 3600 for trebles (jerks, cranks, topwater), and a 3600 for swimbaits. The Falcon box has my spinner, Buzz, and chatter baits. Clipped to the outside are my cull tags. I find the pre-rigging of leaders saves a ton of time and space. I bring 2 Gatorades and 2 clif bars (those stay in my pocket). Glasses on head life vest on me. If it's summer I'll pack up a light rain jacket and wear shorts that are quick drying. Spring or Fall I'll wear my bibs all day and wear the jacket as needed. I use a Bac Rac if the boat is compatible and will carry up to 8 setups in that.
  8. Buzzjet and G2 shellcracker
  9. I found it to me more accurate, I have skipped with a 7' Lamiglas Excel Medium and I can skip... but the chances of killing an innocent bystander with the lack of accuracy is pretty high.
  10. http://iz.carnegiemnh.org/crayfish/country_pages/species_by_state.htm This link is really handy.
  11. I live on #5, other than that #43.
  12. Well it's not a dobyns but the 6'8" M xf BPS Carbonlite is awesome for skipping. It's got plenty of sensitivity and I think more powerful than the St croix models with the same power/action (6'8" M xf). Senkos and Ikas on 20lb braid can go 15'-20' under docks easily and very accurately.
  13. I have a Lexa 100 HSL. You can upgrade to another handle, but it's going to be mostly for looks. The stock handle can accept 2 more bearings under the knobs. There are no other spools that fit, so you are stuck with the stock one, although a polish of the tips may be helpful. I think (99% sure) that you can add a bearing under the cast control cap. There is no way of adding a levelwind bearing either. A Carbontex drag is a good idea for better consistancy.
  14. Send it back, that's not ergonomic, that's poor QC.
  15. Lamiglas' ratings are pretty off. A 4 power "fast" Lamiglas is akin to a Medium Moderate/Fast in say a Shimano or Daiwa. If you wanted the Infinity, I'd go with a 5 power, which is basically the same as a St. Croix MH.
  16. I've got one and it's nice. No hooks in seats or you, no tangles either. Issues that can arise... 7'6" rods do over lap the sides of most boats (including a Ranger 522) so dragging Carolina Rigs can get dicey. If your hatch is fairly narrow the reels will end up being out board of the rack. So when you unclip the rods there IS a tendency for the tips to pop up and whack you or potentially flip overboard. On the right boat it's awesome.
  17. Yes Also Yes and Yes. I use it for every texas rig appliation with the exception of a T-rigged Swimbait. I haven't noticed any negatives with it and I have a ton of confidence in it. I really like it on Offset Worm hooks, the geometry of the eye and the hook point make it work really well and provide a very positive hook up.
  18. Not to side track... but what rod would this new real go on?
  19. I've played with the Curado 301E, Lexa 300 and the Calcutta D. If you have the coin, the Calcutta D is awesome. All that being said the small gain in performance (in my opinion) is not worth the couple hundred dollars it'll cost you over the Cardiff you already have. The three I mentioned will palm better though.
  20. I do all those with a Mojo 7'MHm. Works fine. 1/2-3/4 oz is the sweet spot, but will handle 5" Lunker Punkers or Pointer 128's with no problem. My friend just got that Avid model, I'll ask what he thinks.
  21. Out of a deer camp during the huge flood spring 2011 on Champlain, right next to its front steps. There's a Nissan Pathfinder that some guy had go through the ice last winter up here. He still hasn't taken it out, had a bunch of rats living on it. My secret pond near my old place had a snow machine in it that always held a good Larry.
  22. Provide proof of both please. They just came out with 2 other T3 versions in Japan, including an Ito model... that's a he'll of an investment into a product with the issues you claim they said.
