  2. No, I feel the same way, back when my wife had cancer, we donated to cancer research, we have since dropped our donations and our land lines, the only way to donate should you feel compelled to do so after such hounding, would be to do it as you have put it, there are so many who have lost this battle so we just dedicate to the memory of all who have faught and continue to fight.

  8. Well at least you guy's are not talking behind my back LOL !!!!! Don't let these guy's fool ya, they are a lot of fun to be around !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We enjoy giving everyone the opportunity they may otherwise not have, this meet and greet will get better with time, everyone of these we learn from and we will apply new things each and every meet and greet we go to, camping is just part of the fun, keep in mind this is a family event, we would like to have family envolved as well, so if your wife, son, daughter, wishes to come along, bring them too !!! But it does not stop there, I have made some new friends to fish with as well, and I look forward to future outings with all of the new people I have met and have yet to meet, the meet and greet may only be for a day maybe more in the future, but the friendship we make will last a lifetime and the opportunity to learn new techniques from others during those outings will help us all to be better fishermen, so please feel free to join us, boaters and non boaters alike !!!!! We of course do not wish for anyone to have to be shore bound during this event, it is much better as an all day event but we will do whatever it takes to let all non boaters have their shot at fishing from a boat. It was a lot of fun and it still continues to be a lot of fun, I look forward to this upcoming event and doing it all over again !!! Now, lets get drunk and be somebody !!!!!

Definately not rockets, No military guard around the trailer, cooling rods for a nuke plant maybe? but the straps are bending the tubes so maybe not, whatever it is, or they are, is not really top secret stuff or you would have most likly had a gun in your face right as you snapped the pic. No Haz-Mat sign on the trailer either where it is supposed to be.
  10. OOOPS! I said North, I ment west, Sorry !!! West of Occaneechee is where I fished LOL !!! Thanx for the correction Wayne !!!
  11. As far as current info no, it's been a little over a year since my last trip there, but I did fish the bridges there that cross the lake, Rt15, I fished around the Occoneechee State park area and North of that area, I am unfamilure with the waterways name, but if you travel North of the bridge, it's the first arm on the right, I fished under the smaller Rt 15 bridge and in that area as you travel inward to the Rt. 49 bridge. Lots of really good fishing, the smaller bridge in the Occoneechee area you will have to be careful for, at full pool the bridge can be hard to pass under, depending on your boat size. Make sure you brush up on your bouy markers. Just about anything worked when I was there, top water baits performed the best for me and jigs were working very well. We took our camper down with us so I have no suggestions on places to stay, sorry about that, I will say that this place is fun to fish and a really good choice for a place to visit. Good luck and be safe !!!
  12. I have never seen a walleye that big, Nice job AJ !!!! Forget the batter !!! Lets have a beer !!!...or two...or 10...
  13. I am in with the rest it is definatly a rainbow !!
  14. lol !!!! I did it to my mother-in-laws car one time....smoked like he## for a few days !!!
  15. I do not remember any studies showing data from or for this issue Rhino, but I do have resources that can help me find such a thing if it is out there.
  16. 1) Bass Boat, 9 Rods and Reels, air horn, PFD's, throw device, anchor, spare bulbs, a spare battery, oil mix, lake maps, extra pair of clothes, ice, sweet tea, sandwhiches, chips of some sort, 2 large tackle boxes, a West Va. fit all wrench, pliers, 4 screw drivers, jumper cables, fire extenguisher, cell phone, depending on the weather other assorted things like an umbrella, jacket, rain suit, insulated shoes, hand warmers, thermous, neck/face wrap, always carry polorized sunglasses and one of two of my lucky ball caps. 2) If I am fishing with someone else on their boat, my stuff travels in a truck, rods and reels up front with me and my tackle in the back of the cab, well, unless some jj's magic got spilled then it rides on the back, I take everything else according to weather reports. 3) I have 2 coolers that are incorperated with the boat, if I have a guest or family on board, it or they get packed with ice, drinks of soda pop and sweet tea, and water, however if you were to ever see me with a cooler, it's packed with beer, and I ain't goin nowhere. 4) 1 5) If I had to carry all of my fishing gear to one spot I would have to build a house around it...besides that, the boat is heavy as he## man. So the answer to that question would be yes, it would be.
  17. Lake Anna ? Looks like Sturgeon Creek in the background.
  18. What the crap !!!! Where was that sweet craw color when I just placed my order???? Oh well, looks like I will be digging into the ol' fishing funds again, Thanks Mike !!!! LOL !! I actually look forward to it...go figure !!!
  19. Toyota is noted for o2 sensor issues, it may have an adverse effect on their ability to read oxygen levels, I do not think that small amount would cause any harm to them, especially if you were to throw in 20 gallons of gas on top of that, it may cause your sensors to skew the readings and a loss of fuel milage may result as you are driving through that tank full of fuel, but otherwise if it does not effect or damage the sensors it should return to normal by the next tank, that would be the only issue I could see being probable. If you still wish to try this, I would however suggest using half of what you have left with one tank and the other half with a second tank. If it causes you concern, keep the fuel for a trip out next season, I have had fuel with added stabil for over a year in my boat, granted it's a 1990 and the carbs get serviced every season but the fuel was still reused and it worked just fine for me. Hope that helps !!!
  20. Hair jigs, no I never do, Bass jigs, it depends on the situation or technique I am using, if I am on the bottom, it's got a trailer, If I swim the jig and the bait fish are small then no trailer, I will trim the skirt for a smaller profile and swim it through grass in the shallows or under boat docks, any cover I can find, I have both tied on at all times and both see equal action, both are very effective.
  21. I think of schooling fish this way, the preditor fish are concentrated on getting the school of fish to a more concentrated area, the bass will push these bait fish into a tighter and tighter ball untill it becomes very easy to pick some off, they will use tactics to injure the fish and pick from the weekest of the bunch, you will notice the bait ball breaking up from time to time as they accomplish this task, when the bait ball gets broken up is when you have your best opportunity to catch a feeding fish, dropping a spoon in or a fluke in the location of the bass when fishing this deep may or may not yeild your best result, make sure you match the lure to the bait fish size, too big and they may dismiss the bait, if they work the bait ball to shallower water, shallower baits become more effective and even top water baits will entice strikes if they are in a frenzy, at 30 to 50 feet of water the color of the bait becomes less and less important if you are looking to duplicate color, at that depth I use darker colors to give off shadows instead of trying to mimic a bait fish, to me size and sound becomes more important at that depth than does lighter colors, small dark jigs with a rattle is one of the most effective ways I have found to attract bites, if the water is very clear or it's a bright sunny day with slightly stained water I will try a brighter color bait, other than that I go for black and blue/black, be patient, when working a bait ball that deep as well, when they decide to feed and the bait ball starts to scatter about, drop your bait right in on the fish below the bait ball and shake it or rip it up and let it fall again. Hope that helps !!! Good luck and be safe !!!
  22. Zoff, Can you go over the issue you had finding fish again, you had said in one of our conversations about locating a bait ball and not being able to catch fish that were around and under the bait ball. I remember most of the conversation but some of the details seem to excape me, would you mind repeting the problem again?
  23. Usually it did not make a difference years ago, but todays vehicles and their systems are very sensitive with lamda o2 sensors and fuel injectors that are very sensitive to fuels that are less than quality grade stuff. Manufactures are forcing fuel companies to make better quality fuel as the government required standards for fuel milage keeps increasing. So depending on year make and model, It could potentially cause an issue, if it's an older truck it will most likely have no effect if mixed with a full tank of fuel, newer than 08 I would think twice about it, newer than 2010, I would not recomend it at all. I have been in the automotive industry for 40 years now, the changes I have seen and the adverse effects chemicals have on fuel systems today are really sensitive to any change outside of the norm.
  24. Homework is always the first key to fishing new waters, a map is part of that homework, I have the tendency to look for feeder creeks first, and then points with interest, and the structure of the areas. It depends on the time of year it is as to where I look first to find bass, structure imo is first, I am looking for the best structure I can find, I will look at the longest point on the map and start my elimination there, does the point have deep water access, does it have steep drops, gental slopes, or a combination of both is even better. I also use Google maps to help aid in visual aspects of possibilities, docks, lay downs, shallower large grassy areas, how much of each is located there. The only time I look at the shore is when I am trying to get a picture of what a point looks like as it merges with the water and continues it's structure under the water. As with any body of water nothing beats time on that water, take your time and put the most information you can together to give yourself the best available option to locate the fish, you may have already chosen a bait to start fishing with before you even get your boat wet, once you get to the location you have chosen you may find something unexpected and wish to try a different choice, trust that instinct and let yourself explore. Once you have chosen an area, pick that area apart from top to bottom, make mental notes of what is there for structure and cover by keeping a journal, if that area did not work today, it may be worth the effort to try again in the future. Good luck and be safe !!!
