  1. Yep, lets send the boys and girls thoughts of snow and egg nog. I'm sure it can't feel all that Christmas like over there.
  2. Shouldn't she be in the classic section? She looks it... j/k Reba was one of the hottest women in all music; just recently she's starting to show her age...
  3. I'll just ditto everything above...but don't forget rule #1: WE DO THIS BECAUSE ITS FUN!!!
  4. Its true that the faired sex gets left out quite often. I few faves come to mind: Billie Holiday Etta James Nancy Kelly Heart Ella Aretha

Hey, man, they make that music for a reason. Not just for the musician to feel better, but for the listener to comiserate as well. You know the old saying, "Misery loves company." Sometimes you just wanna feel that way, and the blues is the way to go musically (unless you're really bummed, then move toward Pink Floyd's Final Cut). Otherwise, pop in some Allmans to go with the rest, or even some old ZZ Top (not the new stuff, but Tres Hombres era...). Cheer up, though, bud, things will be just fine in the end.
  6. Not that this is truly an ESPN issue, but I am a little cheesed at the fact of the Texas Bowl being shown only on the NFL network. Up here on Long Island, Cablevision has yet to sign a deal to get NFL network. I can't even subscribe to it unless I get a dish, and that's not gonna happen. All season long I rooted for Rutgers (the closest this area has to a Div 1-A team), and now that they're in a bowl game, I can't even watch it? Bah. What a joke.

Man, I hope that wing gets better soon. Stick with your rehab program, and you should do just fine. As for getting a job, Avid, I think I'd see Maynard G. Krebbs get a job before you...(now that's dating myself...)
  8. Yeah, its a shame the way man treats the earth. I get very sad at the thought...
  9. Why not get her a gift certificate to a spa? I've never gone wrong with one of those...
  10. I hate when someone does a remake of a good song, but does it so poorly that you don't want to hear the original even. Its rare that a remake of a hit is 1/2 as good, I think.
  11. Hey, my man, you're just not putting in the time yet...On LI the last 2 years, I've been good from the end of March. The water's still pretty cold, but with the right amount of technique and patience, those fish will bite. This year I kept a log, and though they weren't large, I did catch more bass in March and April than I did in September and October. Gimme a shout in March and I'll show ya what I mean 8-)
  12. Don't go telling him he's got moves, y'all, next thing Avid's gonna go look for a job at Chippendales (ooo maybe too rough a mental picture...)
  13. Hey, Mike, let me chime in here and welcome you as well. Its nice to know that LBH does have some friends outside the computer. Also, I like to fish with kids too! You just have to know which parts make the best bait...J/K 8-)
  14. Okay, so I've done some thinking about this for a little while, and here goes... The law of averages would suggest that there HAS to be at least one albino bass. That much we seem to agree on. Now, add the laws of natural selection. Normally, bass are colored a certain way to be less visible, i.e. camouflaged (sp?). If a baby bass, or even a young bass, comes out as an albino, it will be VERY visible to predators and therefore an easier meal. Bearing that in mind, the chances of an albino bass growing to a decent size must be extremely low. I have no scientific proof for this, I am just using my (ahem) intelect and forming a hypothesis. I have done a few searches for Albino bass, but I haven't been able to find anything. There's plenty on albino trout and catfish, but no mention of albino largemouths...
  15. I've never made wine, myself, but I have made beer plenty of times, and as I understand it, the processes are fairly similar, which makes it relatively easy. The hardest part is waiting for the fermentation to finish before you can drink it (a good batch of beer will take up to 3 months to ferment).
  16. I don't know about Albinos, but there is a "hybrid" type of bass known as White Bass. They actually look more like a shad than a traditional black bass. The only place I know of to find them is in more western states, specifically California, but I'm sure they can be found elsewhere.
  17. [quote author=GMAN link=1165806221/40#41 date=1165948618 Small and round, nope cant say I have. I'm not a meatball fan, I'm more of a taco fan.
  18. Wow, what a great thing to happen here! Welcome Professor, I look forward to learning as much as I can!
  19. Sorry for you Cards fans if it happens, but I would love to see Pavano gone. Some of my buddies think they should keep him, but I say its time to just cut our losses. The Yanks have a solid rotation all of a sudden, and Pavano doesn't fit in it. Either trade him, or release him, he's nothing but dead weight.
  20. Aw, c'mon, you can't fish those things...there's not enough deck space
  21. Anyone who has Versus channel (formerly OLN) must ahve seen the show, "The Best and worst of Tred Barta." He's a local that I've know for about 20 years now, and I just crack up every time I see an article like this... http://www.newsday.com/features/printedition/ny-etlede4991953nov27,0,1089077.story Lemme tell you, from personal experience, this guy is a nut job all the way through. Nice guy? Absolutley. Good fisherman/hunter? 100% on both. When it comes down to it, though, he's about 2 sandwiches short of a picnic. He might tell you the propper way to do something, but if you were to see him in action you'd say, "Who is this yo-yo?" When I was 14, he and his partner kept a boat in the marina where I worked. I remember him climbing up the piling to the weigh platform and doing "muscle-man" poses. No joke. That same summer, he and his partner brought in a 892 lb. Mako. I've also seen him go away for an over-nighter and leave his dog locked up in his truck. On a personal level, I've always liked him, but from an editorial standpoint, I think he should strat to practice what he preaches...

Lead Vocal: Robert Plant/ Steve Winwood/Chris Cornell Guitar: Trey Anastasio /George Harrison/Ian Anderson Bass: Geddy Lee /Ron Carter Drums: Ringo Starr/ Gene Krupa Keys: Nat King Cole/ Jimmy Smith Whew, that was hard! I think I've put together quite the ensemble here...Now who's booking the tour?
  23. Yep, yet another sign of man's progress through the years...sigh...
  24. Well, at least the Bonds debate is over. If he didn't get an offer from the Giants, I don't think anyone would have signed him. I'd rather have Manny and T.O. on a team before I would have Bonds. (I know, T.O. is a footballer, but I was referencing his attitude...)
