Musical talent
Wow, lots going on here... I have played or still play the following: Guitar Trumpet Baritone French Horn Tuba Trombone Piano (a bit) Djembe Drums (a very little bit) Blues harp For those wishing to learn Blues Harp, there's a great book and tape that used to be around called "Country and Blues Harmonica for the Musically Helpless." I bought this about 15 years ago, so I don't know if its still around, but it did teach me how to play basic harp. After that, its all feel... I'm not much into bluegrass, per se, but I do know I like the Jerry Garcia Band and Riders of the Purple Sage, if you'd call them BG. Also, for some BG roots, I like Woody Guthrie (though he's more considered folk music), and you can't go wrong with "Down Home" music like they did for the soundtrack to "Oh! Brother, Where Art Thou." And if you've never seen the movie, do yourself a favor and rent/buy it. One of the funniest and smartest movies I've ever seen!

Favorite "cover" song
Ya know I love a good music thread, so here goes... Brian Setzer Orch - Route 66 (Many have re-made this song, but this is the best) Long, Tall Sally - Beatles (Originally by Little Richard, I think) Jimmy Buffet - Uncle John's Band (Might sound corny, be he does an excellent version) Phish - The White Album (Every year they used to cover an album for their Halloween concert, this one is way beyond amazing!) Government Mule - She Said, She Said (Who'd have thought you could do the Beatles as Southern Rock) -Best I could come up with at this early hour of 9:30am after being at work until 2:30 am...

It's a Blizzard!
Ah, you guys are soft! I'm up at my ski house in VT where we got 30+ inches in the last day and a half! Now, the temp is about 10 and the wind's blowing a gale, maiking feel about 15-20 below...and I'm LOVING every minute of it. Snow was coming down at about 4"/hour and the snow piles are over 30' in some spots...Can't wait for more snow!!!

#%@##$ ranting!
Thanks guys for all your support. I have a cleaning company on their way over to at least pull the gallons of water from the carpets and the upholstery and a plumber coming this evening. What a mess... Pieces of drop-ceiling tiles EVERYWHERE, not to mention insulation crap, etc. Unfortunately, I was asked not to get renter's insurance, as this is an illegal apartment, so the landlords will have to suck up any expenses (and if they don't, then I'll have to get mean..."Oh, so don't pay for my stuff, I'll move out and then I'm calling the tax commission"). The worst part is the inconvenience and aggrevation, not to mention time lost on the mountains... Ah well, things are rolling in the right direction at least, and hopefully things will be better before the weekend.

#%@##$ ranting!
I'm only venting my frustrations here as its midnight and I have no other means right now to let go of some anger. Maybe some of you will think its a good story... Came home from a night of bartending with the idea that I'd grab my gear and head to VT for a couple days skiing. Got home about 11:00, opened the door and heard the sound of water running. I was quite sure I didn't leave anything running, and seeing as the cat was freaked out, I knew something was up...or down in this case. The down being my living room ceiling and gallons of water pouring through from upstairs. I now have a nice 2" deep pond in my apartment, along with trashed furniture, my entertainment system, my electric guitar (Really ticked about that one), two area rugs, some boxes of business papers, cds, dvds, all the clothes I had stacked on the floor in the bedroom (seeing as the water soaked through the walls into other rooms). The best response from my absentee landlords regarding this is, we'll get someone there by tomorrow evening. Great. Now I'm waiting until tomorrow to have water because the only way to stop the leak was to turn off the main valve (luckily I have access to it) and no one is going to come fix a leak tonight. I figure right now, best case, it caused me $2000 damage, worst case (and more likely) cost me $7500 in stuff, not to mention the time and aggrevation to clean up the mess. I don't even have my shop vac handy as I lent it out a while ago thinking, "ah, I never use it, you hold on to it." Picking it up first thing in the AM... And now for the release... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, had to do that... Thanks for letting me vent my anger...

any skaters
I thought about lacing 'em up yesterday, but the lake wasn't quite frozen yet. I do roller blades, too, for hockey only now. I used to take 'em into my buddy's half pipe when we were in school, but I know I'll hurt myself WAY too badly to even think about it now...

Stupid Question thread part II
New means something that hasn't been done before, seen before, or heard of before. Math is a process by which we manipulate numbers with other numbers to come out with a different number. New Math, therefore, is new numbers. Why do so many people make turns in their cars without using a signal?
