  1. Yep You’re missing out! Some of the most productive days are with the conditions you describe. When it’s flat calm with light sprinkles and over submerged grass, a walking bait can be deadly. If there’s a little wind blowing toward hard lines, a shallow horizontal presentation will bring them out. As the rain gets heavier with moderate winds that’s when I go to the bottom. However, None of that are hard and fast rules. Try it all, its better than staying home. Mike
  2. I’ll use a rattle before a bead and then only in unusually stained water or when punching….Sometimes Mike
  3. 15# Sniper or 20# Shooter depending on cover. Mike

Strict gun laws in major cities mean nothing. Inner city “street” kids who’s life revolves around their neighborhood will do anything to get a gun because they perceive it as the only way to get what they need to survive.. Respect and Power! Nothing is more important. The drive to receive either one is stronger than what most can control. The chance to get both is more important than the air they breathe. A 9mm in the hand of a 18-35 male on the So Side is that power and respect plain and simple, and they know it. When you see and here about what the “haves” have and you look at what you “have” that power is your chance to get it, and no one will stand in your way. No community reconstruction, No youth group, No church Outreach, No basketball court or playground will replace that need. They’re just a politician’s idea of what someone who’s never lived the way they live think will cure all what’s ails them. The biggest problem is not the guns…. It’s the lack of hope, personal respect and the deep need for that power Mike

I didn’t need to open the link and read it. Those things happen in every big city in the country and I’m sure there are people in thier right mind who live there to. Chicago gets the bad press because it happens more often, I get it. I look forward to going there whenever I get the chance. You just gotta know where to go and where not too….Just like every place else. Mike
  6. Been using the original Scum Frog for over 15 yrs and the Trophy Series periodically, won’t use any others. Green pepper is my go to color 90% of the time. Black is a distant 2nd Mike

    Ditto! Mike
  9. I think it’s called that because most kids were given that first. Than again maybe not Mike
  10. Always carry cash in a money clip in my left front pocket, usually $50-$100. Wallet has everything else in my left back pocket. Mike
  11. Jerk baits only work best in cold water…False! Bass will only hit a frog early and never in open water…False! Top water bite dies when the sun rises above the trees….False! “Finesse” fishing with spinning gear is best when the bite gets tough…False! Fluorocarbon fishing line, bass tournaments and bed fishing are the bane of the fishing world…False! Mike
  12. If more anglers understood and accepted this, a lot of our discussions wouldn’t last as long. Mike
  13. He uses a small wash tub and estimates about a 1/4 cup whenever it’s needed, when new a little more He puts the weight’s on top to keep it down. Mike
  14. Bone colored floating jerk bait worked erratically along the edges. Mike
  15. Don’t see why not but you may end up using a gallon of the stuff. My son in law, who is a salt water guide uses fabric softener. Let it soak for a day and hang it up to dry. Mike
  16. Nothing weird about wanting to be a grandpa and looking forward to spending your own time in your own way when you finally hang it up!! Trust me, As it all gets closer, your life becomes more exciting. You can’t feel it now, it will take awhile yet, but you’ll get there. Mike
  17. Late Fall through late Winter… Start with a hula popper if the weather is stable and go up in size as it warms if the bite slows. If a front came through a day or so before I won’t even try. Mike
  18. I remember there was a special on tv about Woodstock in ‘69. My grandson asked if I was hippie at that time. I told him no I was what they called a “Greeser” After a minute or so he said he didn’t know that I was a mechanic!! My wife busted out laughing and I gave him a hug ? Mike
  19. Agree I really don’t see any holes in your lineup either unless you do a lot of punching and your HF Lews isn’t up to it. Mike

  21. A 200 boat field at a BFL has a potential of 2,000 fish being released. However by using a release boat the intent is to not release at the ramp or in a basin. Locals would follow it out and pounce! Well we got smart and now we wait them out and float around until they leave. When they’re gone they move 500 yds and then start to let them go. Mike
  22. Exactly right. It started for me fishing the TBF for a few years, then the BFL for 11 yrs, all as a co angler before I won a Championship and Toyota Series. I wouldn’t call the vast majority of those guys just an Average Joe. They may be your friends or neighbors on the street, but on the water they’re different people. As I said earlier, it’s a lifestyle that takes more than most can or are willing to give. Mike
  23. It’s a lifestyle that you must be prepared to sacrifice for, accept disappointment and live with defeat. You can have all the passion and confidence in your abilities you need but most times than not for most, it may not be enough Mike
  24. When I started fishing the SE Pro/Am circuit it was totally different than what I expected. Some years I did really well, some not so much. I soon realized to do it full time and keep advancing it would take much more than what Mrs Mike and I was willing to give. She would travel with me and stay in the motorhome all day by herself which always played on my mind. I realized also, even tho I could hold my own most times, it wasn’t enough. And all things considered the overall life just wasn’t worth it to us. Mike
