Rod power for T-Rig and small jigs
A lighter power rod doesn’t necessarily equate to getting “better feel”. I don’t own a medium anything and have no complaints. Mike

Diminishing returns.
My most expensive rods are reserved for where the most sensitivity is required. For a long time that level for me was around 300. But with today’s materials and manufacturing processes, I can live with something a little less without sacrificing the most. Mike

Anyone throwing Manns jelly worms ?
Fan? Yes..Do I use them a lot, no not really. When I want a big worm I always grab an anaconda first. The only color I carry is motor oil. Mike

Hot soft plastic baits?
Mike I really don’t dead stick them per se. Nor do I do it with the Cut R. What I’ll do more times than not is just kill it over holes or even in an open shell bed flat once in a while, but once it hits bottom I start up again, but with a hop first. That little hop up and then back down before retrieving, has really been my go to presentation for them both for a while now. Especially this time of the year with an unweighted magnum. Good Luck Mike

frog rod.. but not a beast?
Agree As a co angler I need a smallish one also. I had a Sierra 735 which worked well until I got the Kaden 715. Completely different action but that thing will stick a frog! Mike

Hot soft plastic baits?
For me it’s always been a June bug Magnum Speed Worm and/or Honey Candy Rage Cut R. I use those 2 anywhere and anytime. Mike

Maybe he just needed a hug
I’d venture to say a lot of people would just back up or put his fist out for a bump. Obviously this man needed a little more. Well Done Mike

History Lesson
I fished with a guy one time we called “Stay put Fred”. He wouldn’t move more than 100 yards all day. When my turn came to fish with him we sat over a hump in one of the smaller lakes in Central Fla all morning. After sitting there for about 2 hrs I finally said “Fred, don’t you think we ought to try someplace else fir a little while”? He said, “Nah, don’t worry, they’ll be here”! And they finally showed up. We all at some point fish our history, usually before we try someplace new. Over the years I’ve fished Okeechobee more than any other lake….Hard. I like to think I know that lake pretty well even with all its seasonal, monthly and even weekly changes but that only comes from my history there. When fishing water that no matter where you look you’d swear every place holds fish, it can become a guessing game at first. But without knowing what you did where and when your just setting yourself up for a long day. As @Catt said.. points, humps channels, rivers, cuts etc. don’t change. To me the thing I rely more on than even those is their feeding, spawning and yes, even their roaming cycle and how it changes throughout the year depending on weather, temperature, depth and location. In that regard it can get fairly predictable In my opinion, On large natural lakes if you don’t really know your history, you’ll just be spinning your wheels wishin and hopin. Mike

A sports question.
A dime is the smallest coin. So In football if a pass is thrown to the smallest open spot that only the receiver can get it, that is called “dropping a dime” or “ putting it on a dime” Don’t know anything about basketball. In fishing it would be like hitting a spot no bigger than a coffee cup. Mike

Black&Blue vs Junebug
I use 3 colors of plastics for all types of presentations with Junebug my most productive by far. I tried using B&B one time and have a bag of craws somewhere. Mike

Late November in South Florida - what part of the cycle are we in?
Ok let’s talk…. Where exactly are you fishing “holding ponds”? What “drop off’s” are you referring too? There are a thousand places in that lake you can catch fish. I was sight fishing beds last weekend. There are tournaments there out of all 4 sides on any given weekend. Is it tough fishing sometimes? Sure Weather this time of the year has a great impact on results no matter where you go but there are fish to be caught. Tell us where and how you fish and I’ll try to point you in the right direction. Mike

Dec 7, 1941
My Dad and his 2 brothers enlisted on Dec 8th. He told me the line to sign up was around the block and down the street. He became a combat engineer building runways in the Aleutian Islands and the Azores. His older brother joined the Marines and fought in New Guinea and the Solomon’s. Neither of them ever talked about what they did. But they never forgot Mike
