Rigging up Jigs/Trailers
If it’s new water and don’t know much about it, I know what combo I’m using for what but don’t really know depth, or clarity until I get there. That’s when I rig. If I’m familiar with the lake I have a pretty good idea about what I’m gonna throw and rig the night before. Mike

How many "Average Joe" bass anglers do you think are out there who could dominate the pros?
Dominate is a strong word. Not many at all, I would think if they could they would. Now If the question was if an “average Joe” able to compete with the best, that’s different. I know a lot of those and a few I’d put money on who frequently sign in here. Mike

Remember When
*Bozo the clown *Picking up a girl for a date and her father answers the door *My girlfriend sitting in the middle of the bench seat while I drive *Riding in my ‘62 Catalina with the windows down in the winter *Motown *Fights in the hallways of my high school *Crossing Guards *Have to be home when the street lights came on *Playing 16” softball in the alley behind my house (it’s a Chicago thing) *Drag racing at each stop light *Black leather jackets (another Chicago thing) *Hamms, Old Style and Schlitz *Hemi engines (real ones, not today's) Mike

Confidence Bait
Blake The only time it will have a tendency to roll is if you’re throwing it weightless and reeling with speed. I really wouldn’t worry to much about it tho, as long as that tail is moving you’re good. What I do is I’ll always throw with some kind of weight depending on the depth. 1/8 in really shallow, 3/16 and 1/4 as it gets deeper. You don’t need anything else. 90% of the time I use a 3/16. If skimming on top I’ll use an 1/8. You’re reeling just fast enough to keep it up and you have just enough weight to let it drop in any holes you come across Tip..To get the best action out of it rig it tail down with the point in line with the hook. Good Luck Mike

Do you keep a finger on your line?
I make sure I do when punching using heavy braid (65# or 80#) All other times with tight line retrieves…Sometimes Mike

Breaking knot
So I assume then it’s the mono knot that’s slipping at the terminal end and that it’s is a rare occurrence? If so, your knot tying process changed for some reason as @Mick D said, or your line has been compromised. Mike

Your top 3 Fall baits?
I really don’t throw any specific baits based solely on the seasons. The baits themselves don’t change much year round. There are some I won’t have in rotation.. like a 10” worm after a cold front, or burning a spinner bait over submerged grass. Pretty much everything else is in play. Mike

How do I fish this mossy “grass”?
Ditto Ditto Mike
-
Confidence Bait
1) Bottom contact plastics in grass, the thicker the better. 2) Swimming a UV Speed Worm in, over and through fairly scattered grass flats and isolated weed clumps. Mike

Confused by specific purpose rods
As @Glenn mentioned the rods are designed for 2 different types of presentations based on their power and action description. To answer your question the MH/F rod would be the “better choice for a single rod to use most of the time” but only if that is what you do most of the time. The line and lure weight recommendation is only a guide. Mike

9-11-2001 - Where were you?
I could never get though listening to that song without things around me getting a little blurry. Mike

9-11-2001 - Where were you?
I was driving to a job site when what I was listening to on the radio was interrupted with a news alert. I went right home called my kids and wife at work. I turned the tv on and sat in that chair for hours getting more angry as the day went on. Mike

Paddletail swimbait
The Big EZ with a fatter tail and the mid joint, allows for harder and wider mid section movement especially with a slow steady retrieve. The action of the Skinny Dipper, with its thinner tail and straighter body is all about the faster tail action. Mike

2022 The Classic...Lake Hartwell
Love that place! I fished a BFL Championship there a few years back. If you guys get a chance to fish it while you’re there, do it! Mike

Paddletail swimbait
Tried them all at one time or another but kept going back to either the RI Skinny Dipper or Big EZ depending on what they want, Thump or Wiggle Mike

favorite spinnerbaits for late summer/early fall
Ditto I’ve used different ones over the years but keep coming back to them. Mike

What indicates that it's going to be good day on the water?...
1) Light rain, light wind, 3-5 ft of tannic water and fish busting on top. 2) Hydrilla just topping out and have to change from a 3/4 oz weight to a 1 1/2 oz to get through, and get bit within the first 3 punches. Those are the days worth falling out of bed for. Mike

Using snaps for bass fishing
I’ll use a snap from time to time usually when on a hard bait bite which isn’t too often. Can’t remember the last time I used a snap swivel. Mike

Stretching Fluoorocarbon
You’re right, some stretch more than others, that’s why I stopped using InvisX and only use Sunline’s product line. But all 100% flouro will stretch to some degree and none will recover. But to purposely stretch it will weaken the line as stated above. Mike
