Casting technique
1/8 is not heavy at all. You got good advise about fishing on top or through the water column. Just keep it off the bottom It’s true casting parallel to the shore can increase your chances especially this time of the year, but don’t be afraid to make some bomb casts at all angles including straight out. When approaching the shore be aware of how and where you walk trying to be as stealthy as you can. I’ve caught many bedding bass 2 ft off the bank pitching around and over tall weeds. Mike

Co-Angler/ Back seat etiquette
Ski Don’t worry too much about it. I guess The best advise anyone can give to you is just to relax, do your own thing, and show your boater and his equipment his do respect. Some will appreciate it and some couldn’t care less. You both have the same goal. Have a great time Mike

Co-Angler/ Back seat etiquette
Yes, The front deck is his regardless of side he casts from. As you know it doesn’t take long to make a cast. If he casts right, and you cast in front of him to the left, he can turn and cross your line. Not Good Mike

Co-Angler/ Back seat etiquette
Always offer to pay for fuel (I offer to bring lunch and drinks) Pick up your used plastics, pieces of line and any other trash you made Offer to help wipe down the boat at the end of the day. Offer to back the boat in or out, or park the truck If you’re a smoker ask if it’s alright Try not to step on the seats as you go from and to the back deck Do not cast in front of the windshield If you use a backseat, close it before take off again. Bring your own PDF These are some of the “rules” I adhere to when fishing in an large circuit tournament...BFL, B.A.S.S. Nation, TBF, ABA or Costa. When fun fishing with a friend you’ll learn soon enough. The most important thing to remember is that it’s his boat. If you show due respect it can make for a more enjoyable time. Good Luck and have fun. Mike

Favorite Bed Baits
The Magnum has been my go to plastic for about 2 yes now. After a frog it’s the-next thing I pick up. No other plastic has been as successful to the point where I won’t use something else. Honestly I never even thought about swimming one over a bed. I usually just use a craw type bait in and around the bed as I mentioned earlier. Mike

How much bullet weight is necessary
I always have a 3/16 rigged on my bottom contact rod which I use every outing. Keep in mind that down here we fish In anywhere from 1 ft to 8 ft fow on average. For wood, scattered vegetation or hard bottom the 3/16 is my sweet spot and adjust up based on trying to elicit a reaction strike or increase in the thickness of cover. As a site note, a 3/16 is my weight of choice when swimming a plastic throughout that same water column. Mike

How much bullet weight is necessary
The majority of my bottom fishing is with a 3/16, except of course when using a Carolina rig ( 1 oz) or punching (up to 2 oz). There are times I’ll use a 1/4 when they want it faster or when using a slow infrequent drag which is then always pegged. Mike
