Trilene Knot and Crazy Alberto Knot - What a Pair
Maybe I should start another thread, but I don't understand where all the wasted line comes from when useing the Palomar. Pull the main line to cinch and tag to tighten. There is no more waste than any other knot. Mike

7.3:1 gear ratio question
Well if you want to get technical, you can reel a 6 faster to get the same a 7 would give also. I just prefer not to. Mike

I like it just the way it was. I agree, with more teams a deeper bench would be the way to go. Mike

Straight Shank Vs. Wide Gap For Texas Rigging
I've always texposed every plastic I throw until I started useing the Trokar TK 130 hooks. With those I don't penetrate the plastic anymore. They're so sharp it isn't necessary, especially when snelling the knot Mike

NRX 852/843MBR
I have a 7ft GLX 843C MBR paired with a Chronarch 100SF spooled with 14# Sniper that I use for all t-rigged plastics up to 1/2 oz weights even tho the rod is rated up to 3/4. At first I really didn't like it too much as It has the softest tip of any rod I own. But after useing it more and more I've come to really appreciate it's versatility. I can skip with this setup better than I thought. Even tho the lower end rating is 1/4 oz, useing an 1/8 will fit what you're looking for with this rod with no problem, plus it will give you a little lee way. I know you're looking at an NRX, but I can't imagine it being THAT much better. Just a thought that I hope helps. Mike

Spinning reel or casting reel for finesse fishing
Being new I would recommend a spinning setup. It would be easier, lighter and you would probably enjoy it more. That said being I use a casting setup for everything including skipping under docks, but there are many, many folks who use spinning rods for everything. There are very few "this is better for that" presentations. Finesse fishing isn't one of them .. It's what you feel comfortable with and have confidence in. Since you already have a casting setup I would get a spinning also. Good Luck and Welcome Mike
