  1. To me nothing walk's like a regular sized Spook. Mike
  2. Most anything weightless if I have one already rigged. Scarborough is right something that looks like it was killed or stunned. If I don't have a soft plastic rigged at the time, I'll just throw back what they missed, just passed where they missed it, and let it sit a while then make very short intermittent twitches and hope for the best. Hello and Welcome! Mike
  4. He obviously had a good life, and made your's that much better. Hold onto that.. Mike
  5. Not really qualified to answer your question as I don't own any of the rods you're asking about, but if you're open to another suggestion, the Falcon "Carolina Lizard Dragger" (if you can find one) it's made for what you want to do. Mike
  6. I use the X 11 composite for crank and jerk baits and won't change either... The M1 mh/f is my spinner/ chatter rod and won't change that either Mike
  7. Since you mentioned Fenwick, I suggest you find yourself a Techna AV. Imho, they are hands down the best rod Fenwick ever made and comparable to anything made today in the same class. Mike
  8. For big water either a Paca Craw, or Rage Craw. For small water either a Rage bug or the little talked about BB Cricket. Don't know how well they imitate a craw but... Mike
  9. For punching matt's...3/4 to 1.5 oz weight, double boober stop, 4/0 or 5/0 Trokar TK 130 hook. For heavy to scattered vegetation...3/16 to 1/4 oz weight, sometimes Fla rigged and sometimes T Rigged depending on cover, same hook. Mike
  10. Good advise above.. Hello and Welcome! Mike
  11. Don't know about technology or any scientific method, but the best way I've heard to give an indication of a rod's ability to transmit vibration is to hold it as you normaly would, touch the tip lightly to someones adams apple while they hum. And no I have not tried it, and don't know anyone who has, it's just what I read. Mike

    Hello and Welcome! Mike
  13. I've always used the SDJ for flouro and it has never failed me. However I've been messin with the so called "no name" knot that Shaw Grigsby and Gary Klien have made videos about and this thing is fast becoming my favorite. Check out you tube about the strongest flouro knot and you'll see it (I don't know how to post videos on here as I've never tried) As far as the palomar goes I've always been told, seen and read that if the lines are crossed when you double the line through the eye, that is what will cause a pinch point and it will fail. Mike
  14. In the mostly shallow grass and vegitation filled So Fla waters I fish, the first thing I throw is a frog...Allways, no exceptions...That's the first punch. If that's not working the 2nd punch depends on the water and conditions... Matted heavy cover... A punch rig with a beaver of some sort. For heavy vegitation...A t-rig with a craw type bait or a big worm. Scattered grass...A spinnerbait, soft swim bait, cut r worm or jig. Open water...Spinner/Chatterbait, sq bill, carolina rig As you can see my 2nd choice is never locked into one bait style or presentation. But that's me. Mike
  15. I second the way Glenn's video explains it. It IS the best and safest way. It can't be said too many times tho, DON'T touch the gills. Mike
  16. Hello and Welcome! Mike
  17. Great, Another "Cranky old man" You'll fit right in Hello and Welcome! Mike
  18. Perfect! Absolutely Perfect! If I was a Bass I'd live there Mike
  19. Down here almost every boat I've been on the owner has a push pole of some sort for getting way back in the jungle. The key is stealth! I mean QUIET!! No banging the rods on the gunnel, no loud talking, no dropping a long nose pliers on the deck...you get the idea. If you're intent on going, stop way before you get to its edge or keep the trolling motor on low and shut it off when you get there. Constanly running the motor on low is better than constantly turning it on and off. Going into the middle of a pad field may seem like the thing to do, but once you hit the pads they will know you're there, and when you spook em they just head deeper where you won't be able to go. More times than not I've had boaters stop 10yds before we hit the edge, and let our momentum or wind take us to where we stop, and make long bomb cast's. All after we hit the outer edges. Think of it like walking through the woods and stalking a Grizzly. Mike Mike
  20. Ok good Thanks! Mike
  21. I use one one my wifes nylons to run the line through when spooling. There are no cotton fibers being left behind and you'll use a lot less because it does not soak into the cotton. Mike
  22. Gardner, Help me out here! I've been staring at this for 10 min and can't figure out what S.S.D...means! Mike
  23. Ditto I use it on all lines including braid, flouro and poly. Not mono as I don't use it anymore. Mike
