Why buzzbaits work
Combine that with the rapid displacement of water and you have injured bait running for its life. Which is what every predator covets Mike

Pitching technique- hold the bait or not
It the opposite for me. I’ve been doin it one armed so long that when the bait comes out the natural inertia of the line as it swings back and out using the rod, can be done with pin point accuracy. Of Course the farther out you pitch that accuracy tends to diminish. But unlike flipping, most pitches are to a small area not usually to a specific point At least it is for me. Mike

Schools Of Bait In 10-15ft, How would you fish them?
Agree, IF there is bass are on your school they’re telling you they’re locked in and sometimes they don’t want to be bothered I’d go back and flip the pads you’re having success in Mike

Fishing Line
Have you backlashed that reel?? If no rocks, wood, guide issues or any other outside influence, a reason could be that when picking out a backlash you inadvertently frayed it with your nails or pick. That happened to me one time which of course was my fault Mike

Pitching technique- hold the bait or not
After the first pitch, or if I want to greatly increase the distance at some point I’ll hardly ever touch it again. Mike

Mono vs fluoro
Ditto I just don’t get it either Mike

Mono vs fluoro
A properly chosen and correctly tied knot on any fishing line will hold just fine. I use flouro for everything except 3 techniques and opposed to a few fellow members, have never had a knot fail…ever. A point tho, you get what you pay for when buying flouro. I use all 2 Sunline products from 12# to 20# Don’t use mono for anything, ever Mike

What is the toughest braid available?
What another opinion?? I haven’t used all products from all brands obviously, but compared to the ones I have tried over the years, nothing is stronger and more durable overall than the original 4 carrier Power Pro Mike

Frog fishing
Mike: If it has a weed line or preferably a hard reed line along the shore I’d look for any openings or indentations and pitch into those first. Then I’d cast parallel as tight as I can working my out only about 5ft or so at a time, both with your favorite popping frog. Then I’d look for any isolated patch of anything in the eel grass field casting at different angles each time. For that I’d change to regular frog with the longest tails I have. If no hits trying all 3 presentations, then I’d look for thinning areas of the field and start the rotation again. If all that fails throw an unweighted Magnum UV Speed Worm on top or add a 3/16 and have at it Good Luck Mike

What would you spool it up with?

Why do I suck in Tournaments
I started tournament fishing about 15yrs ago, all as a co angler. After a few years with limited success I “graduated” to regional and then National trails where I really had to up my game. I’ve had great success at times and others not so much. I’m fortunate to accumulate some sponsors both local and a few National retail outlets which help but I still have to produce. But as a co angler my options are limited. I have to go where the boater wanted which forced me to expand my horizons and learn on the fly. It’s humbling at times but also the best education I could have. You got great advice. I would heed what was posted but at the same time I would advise you to stop and evaluate everything you’ve done. From your past decisions on how to “read” the water to the equipment you use. I can tell you to slow down, finesse fish first to get a limit early, go big girl hunting early then go fill out your limit. Etc etc The best advice I can give you is to go back to the beginning. Take the pressure to succeed off yourself and redirect everything you do to find your niche. What do you do best? Where does your most confidence lay? Think about your next cast, your next move, your bait and rig choice’s. Be ready to Improvise, Overcome and Adapt to what the fish are telling you. Listen to them and do what they’re telling you, not what you what from them. It’ll come back as long as your commitment doesn’t wane. Best of luck to you moving forward Mike

1-2 Punch, Who Still Does This?
It stirs up insects and thier larvae which of course draws a nearby bass’s preferred food. Think of it as the first link in a Bass’s food chain. Mike Happens all the time. I remember being in a BFL Regional Championship on Santee Cooper when my boater would purposely follow other boats in thier wake until they stopped to fish. When they stopped he would back off the requisite 50 yds and start casting in his line of travel. He did that all day. Mike

1-2 Punch, Who Still Does This?
The key to it from just my experience is to keep the circles tight to each other and make as much disturbance as safely as you can. If you go out more than say 2 boat widths it wasn’t as effective. Mike

Whatever it takes! Sometimes ya gotta go small and light to get anything Mike

Kissimmee Chain June Bigguns?
“Take your time you might get two” Happens more than a lot of people may think. Good explanation of the why and how to a throw a vibrating tailed swim worm. I’ll say it again… (Give me a Magnum UV Speed Worm and I’ll follow you anywhere!) ? Mike

I went from power fishing to just about 100% finessee
I target big bass with everything I got every time I go out, because that’s the goal every time I go out. If dinks is all I get then so be it, I got something and grateful for it. But to specifically use light line, light weight and light equipment all day does nothing for me. Mike

1-2 Punch, Who Still Does This?
I’ve heard about that but never personally done it. But what I have and seen done in a boat, after fishing an area with no luck, is to make a wide high speed donut in an area going out about 2-3 cast lengths, stop and fish my way back to the where we started. If there were fish any where near there more times than not we’d get a hit where before we didn’t. Was it specifically because of it? I don’t know, but it does work…Sometimes Mike

Frogg Toggs ?
I have the same that I received as a gift about 12yrs ago and still do the job. They come in a pull string pouch that has since deteriorated over the years. The problem is that they do not breathe one bit like the newer versions. When it’s 90 deg these things make me sweat more than if I had nothing on. One good thing is that I’ll wear the jacket as an overcoat in winter down here and for that they work great Mike
