  1. I was there also! Most people don’t even think about fishing the river especially if launching from somewhere else. If they did most would be lost ? Mike
  2. Sure! If an actual need is there I always try my best. Mike
  3. Times change. I gave my grandson my box that was almost as big, now it sits in the attic with the cane pole. ? Mike
  4. They were fishing in totally different areas. The area where they were bunched up had less than 4 fow with submerged and topped out grass. The winner spent most of his time in the river where it gets to 10-20 deep. Mike
  5. I don’t touch my brakes on any reel once they’re set. When flipping the reel in engaged and all you’re doing is releasing your line to where you what the bait to fall. No brake or casting knob adjustment needed. When pitching just loosen your knob enough to get a somewhat free fall depending on how far out you want to go. The amount of line you’re working with is controlled by your thumb throughout. Mike
  6. 1) Magnum UV Speed Worm / Rage Cut R 2) Scum Frog / Trophy Series Popping 3) Devils Horse / Spook 4) Skinny Dipper / Big EZ 5) Rage Bug / Rage Craw 6) Fat Max Ribbon The first listed are always pre rigged for every outing regardless of where I go, weather or conditions. Second is on the same combo which are usually the next choice then go from there Mike
  7. It’s much faster and easier to just eyeball them when there’s only 2-3 in the well. However, If a catch is close and it’s not immediately obvious that’s when the beam or scale will come out. Mike
  8. I never thought about doin that! But the best thing…You could care less about what she is and gave her a home! Well Done Mike
  9. I only use as a follow up to a missed Magnum Speed Worm or 7” Cut R bite. Fir me it seems a dead stick follow up is best. I don’t use them as a stand alone as there are better choices. Mike
  10. Same as everyone else! Mike
  11. You’re thinking of Cole Kmet Honestly, the jury is still out in my mind about Eberflus. Poles, Getsy and the rest of the staff are fine except for Tolbert the WR and Passing Coordinator and Rowe the DB coach. The best hire of them all was Cunningham. He was offered and refused Arizona’s GM job to stay which now if he gets a promotion next year we’ll get an extra 3rd in 2024. With the 1st pick to trade down for (hopefully more than once) and 98mil of cap we can turn this thing around quick. Keep in mind what Cinn did. Mike Agree!! Not to minimize anything that Mahomes has done, but I believe Reid got the best out of him where maybe some other coach wouldn’t. Case in point…Alex Smith
  12. We’ll be just fine with Fields as long as Poles doesn’t bail on him. Mike
  13. I use the Original 4 carrier Power Pro for punching and what you describe. Nothing will cut through like a machete but it won’t just slide over them either. That type of fishing is what I try to do more often than any other and it’s what I have the greatest amount of success with. The best individual results and most consistent success is using the baits or their equivalent of what @Catt mentioned above. When fishing on top of a pad field using a horizontal retrieve a frog type bait is best just moving from one pad to other pausing as it drops off, walk it in place a bit and go to the next. When using a swim type plastic (Magnum UV Speed Worm) you do the same but first skim it across from one pad to the other especially looking for small spaces between them where you pull just enough to get the tail moving before killing it and coming up and resting on the next. Pull it on, Drop it off, work it, and continue. As far as setting the hook See Below… The key is to be ready with your drag set, thumb on the spool with the rod at always at the correct angle to immediately set to get her head up and out. Mike
  14. The ref’s don’t just lock onto 1 player before or after the snap. They’re scanning 22 guys and if something happens at the exact time he looks at a guy, then the decision is made right or wrong at the possible expense of a flagrant penalty 2 yds away out of his line of sight. The only exception is the referee who locks onto the QB at the snap I think at the snap Bradbury caught his eye as he approached the receiver, when the receiver made his cut he zeroed in on both of them. The one they missed is like all the other possible penalties that were occurring all at once, but they just didn’t see it. Mike
  15. Really.. And of course a rule change would stop it. But if you give a certain number of points and possession in lieu of running out the clock to give the opponent less time work with, wouldn’t that negate the opportunity to score which you would have to do anyway to win? Or maybe I just don’t understand which is entirely possible Mike
  16. There's no way they could legislate that out of the game as it’s just another strategy that happens in all games. I agree tho it was a bad look when he went down and 3 defenders backed off to let him score. Mike
  17. Just glad he’s gone That’s what matters. Mike
  18. Yep i only saw 1 blown call…so far Mike
  19. Mike L replied to fin's topic in Fishing Tackle
    Turn around Mike
  20. Any Chronarch or Curado E Series reel Mike
  21. If history repeats itself… This time of the year to about mid April a white craw or lizard sight fishing a bed. From then to about the end of September a June Bug Magnum Speed Worm. From then to the end of the year a standard sized Honey Candy Rage Cut R Mike
  22. Knot doesn’t matter, it’s all in your presentation as was said. If you twitch the right amount considering the weight of the frog you’re using on a slack line, you can get any frog to walk in place. Just takes a little practice as each time you change something your technique may need to be tweaked just a little. But the premise always remains the same. Mike
  23. Standing at the end of the boat looking down at a screen all day holding a spinning rod with 6# line waiting to get all excited when a 1# fish comes swimming by! Mike
  24. This year I foresee mine on either a white Rage Bug or 6” lizard off a bed or punched through at Okeechobee within the next 2 months. Other than the amount of weight you used, that’s exactly what I got my PB on next door at the Stick! Mike
