  1. Never. Don't know where that came from. Every time I have used them I have gotten good hookups with no problems associated with the hookups. I debarb them as I have always done on all of my single hooks, so gut hooks are easy to remove. Before I bought mine an old bull headed friend told me I would never get a Senko on it and they are actually great for threading on a Senko and keeping it on. Like anything new in this sport there are nay sayers who are critical without ever trying it. I don't sell them, just use them LOL
  2. Yep, I do not use them all the time, but have used the 3/0 and 4/0 a lot over the last two years. Yes, they work and hold a Senko really well.
  3. Sorry, cannot agree, Cal's drag grease has been around for many years and has been a staple for drags, its purpose. Been doing my own reels for 20 years and as I recall it existed then
  4. I do not and use E10. I keep the tank to the brim when not in the water and therefore no condensation. Just brought the boat to the house from state park winter storage since last October 14, put on the muffs with water, turn the key and bam, no problem. This a is 1991 60 Yamaha with 350 hours. I used Bass Boat Saver for many years and now use Marine Lucas Slick Mist on my painted tin hull. A-Jay on here also has a black hull and uses Slick Mist.
  5. I can only add that I have 3 Curado K's and 10 other Shimano reels and have had this problem
  6. I put two on last year when I bought the reel and have not changed it. Actually, every reel I have has two brakes on.
  7. Hull and motor maintenance after fishing depends on the water you fish. After a day on the Potomac I do not leave the dock yard without wiping down my hull and engine with Lucas Slick Mist. It is a must. For regular maintenance buy a quality grease gun and keep the engine properly lubed. Buy the right plugs for your engine and replace them on a regular basis. In my case it is an annual thing. Finally, use the proper lower unit oil for your lower unit. I change mine in November each year into a glass jar so I can look for water in the oil (and none ever so far) I clean the carpet once a year, but then I am paranoid about slopping anything on it during the year. If my wonderful school teacher daughter gets scent on the carpet I clean it immediately. Keep your vinyl protected with a quality vinyl protector. The baking sun will eat your vinyl. Keep your bilge clean. Safe boating to you. Taking care of your boat can be very rewarding. I was launching my G3 one day at the state park last year and a fellow was watching me on the dock. As I walked by him after I tied up he commented "new boat huh" and when I told him it is a 1991 he dropped his teeth.
  8. Drag grease is just a lot heavier. I also used Yamaha Blue Marine until I went to real fast reels and switched to ACT2, or Cal's. Two years now and have never experienced it breaking down. It is their recommendation so use as you wish.
  9. Don't know the speed of the reel in question, but Shimano recommends their ACT2 (same as Cal's) be used on the micro gears to maintain smoothness. With regard to a fear of drags and or the drive gear becoming unseated if the drag is backed way off, it cannot happen.
  10. I carry two tube rigs on the boat. One is the stupid tub rig and one is a tube on a 3/0 EWG Gammie, glass rattle inserted with a 3/16 slip sinker pegged. My tubes are 4".
  11. Mine are fished on a 4/0 Gammie EWG weightless, up side down.
  12. I have a 2500FB, which is 14 years old this month and 3000HG a year old, both spooled with 8lb mono and they have been bullet proof for me. I am sure you know the only difference in the 2500 and 3000 is the spool size.
  13. Just watched him again on the Bass Pro show and I should have mentioned that he only uses bulk spools. Wonder where he get those
  14. Our county parks are closed, but the state parks with launching on the tidal Potomac are open and all tournaments are stopped. Looks like the bass catch a break.
  15. I use what Glenn has shown and I also use these: Both work extremely well. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-PUNCHSTOPS.html?from=basres
  16. The tidal Potomac LM have a reputation for eating anything, so we shall see if does the trick, or I share your experience.
  17. I Added Smoothie drags and SS ABEC7 bearings ,but they are otherwise stock. I had three until last year when a friend begged and begged me for one and I gave in and sold it to him. I know what you mean by remorse LOL My two are 10 out of 10 in appearance and I am now paranoid about getting a mark on them.
  18. I already did. I have two Curado 100B's and they are used for everything under the sun. Just change the line accordingly. Fifteen years old and going strong. As I recall they were $130 each. Next is my Curado 200 E7's.
  19. Looks like you only need a couple more to round out the collection
  20. Under 50 water, go slow, real slow. A shaky head left alone for a bit works. Any area of your lake fairly shallow in the sun is a good place to look. Don't be in a hurry with any plastic.
  21. Don't know if this will work, as soon as I can get on the river, I am going to give Mike's new jigs a try rigged with tube trailer. Big, fat and lots of bright red flakes.
  22. Although I am up to 9 Carbonlites I still have and like a lot four cork handle rods: one is a very old 7' KVD spinner bait, one is a very old 7' KVD frog rod, one is a pretty old 6'6" Galyans (for my jig and pig) and one is a very old 6'6" Gander Titanium medium I use for crank baits. Each of them is so special in their purpose I will always have them.
  23. This very, very long exchange reminds me, holy cow my Sufix 832 braid has been on my frog rod for three years now with a bunch left on the product spool yet. Can't beat a 10lb mono backing.
  24. Yep, have four of them.
