  1. If "Gary Loomis" or "G. Loomis" is a trademark, then I think Shimano may have some justification in their lawsuit. The tricky thing about trademarks is that once one person can get away with using it freely, it could potentially turn into a landslide.
  2. I have to say, that pond behind BWell's house is magical. I'm averaging 7 fish an hour fishing from shore. The fish here are so gullible they constantly hit my poppers right when they hit the water. Too bad they're mostly dinks ranging from 8-14 inches.
  3. No rankings... but Leon: The Professional Blackhawk Down Saving Private Ryan Law Abiding Citizen The Blue Max
  4. I wish our cops were this awesome. ;D
  5. Depends on the brand sometimes. At this very moment, I have a spool of Trilene XL Smooth Casting 6# in my hands. The stuff stretches quite a bit when I take a 3' length in my hands and pull.
  6. Bluegill and Crappie have been known to peck at the tails of worms...
  7. I would think that a wacky rig would work better with a bobber.
  8. If you can get a spot directly below the dam in the tailwater, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and swimbait plastics are decent. Otherwise just fish the lake. The rest of the tailwater is infested with gar.
  9. Your background in Sales/Marketing/BusDev is a definite plus. Keep in mind that this experience is going to help you predominantly with tackle/lure/boat companies that already have their own in-house marketing/sales departments. With your level of expertise, you're probably not looking for anything entry-level, and that may work against you as well. Anyone looking to hire will probably understand that they're going to have to pay you a certain amount because of your qualifications, and they may not be willing to at the time. There is such a thing as being overqualified. With that being said, you can mitigate this by showing them that you can bring things to the table that many others can't, thereby justifying a higher salary and position in any given company. If it's a position with responsibilities that anyone with marketing degrees and experience can handle, they're probably going to hire internally.
  10. It is possible that bluegill are hitting the worm. However - you should probably be using a larger hook with a 7 inch worm. I personally have used 4/0 Mustad Elites with 5" Senkos with a lot of success (haven't lost a fish yet after the hookset). Perhaps you should try a 4/0 or even a 5/0. Before investing a large amount of $$$ on a better setup, you may want to first try using a braided line as well. Monofilament has stretch, which is the last thing you need if you're using a short rod, as you have reduced leverage as is when setting the hook. Braid doesn't stretch, and may help you set the hook better. IMO, Try some 20 or 30# power pro first. Lastly, this goes back to your rod - it's short. This means less leverage when setting the hook, so you may have to set the hook a bit harder and bring your rod tip back more than you currently are. Try this first as well. I'm a firm believer in the fact that most of the time, it's the Indian and not the arrow.
  11. This may be a little early for this, but I would still encourage you to see if your local community college offers any courses on marketing or advertising (classic campaigns, public relations, etc.). Employers and sponsors in almost any industry love to see initiative from prospective sponsees - especially if their actions also mirror a certain level of foresight and analytical competence. For you to acquire sponsors, you have to make yourself marketable in their eyes. If reading their company reports and figuring out what their primary message and marketing strategy is, and tailoring your image and skills to fit their needs is what it takes, then it's what you have to do. This is what I've learned, at least.
  12. I wonder if football and grass jigs with gamakatsu octopus circles are possible...
  13. In no particular order, assuming I have access to shakey head and finesse jigs 1. Yo Zuri 3D Popper 2. Yo Zuri Wack-O 3. Bama Craw Rage Tail Baby Craw 4. Watermelon Red Flake Pro Senko 5. Zoom Split Tail Trailer (White) 6. Cavitron Buzzbait 7. Watermelonseed Senko 8. Zoom Baby Bass Flukes 9. Bluegill Rapala Lipless Crank 10. Shad Rat-L-Trap
  14. I was guilty of this as well. ;D AFAIK, isn't it illegal to tell anyone other than the lunch lady that a person receives free lunch? Privacy thing, last time I heard.
  15. I've been using Gamakatsu octopus circle hooks, and love them. I also have been experimenting with BOSS shakey heads, which have mustads on them, and I think the hooks are pretty darn sharp. I may experiment with Owner since so many of you seem to love them.
  16. I specifically talking about creature baits not which doesnt include craws or frogs. Ah, my mistake. I always thought "creature" referred to large non-worm plastics.
  17. I started when I was 7, and I turn 20 tomorrow, so I'd have to say 12 years give or take 6 months. Fishing's pretty much in my blood though - my grandfather on my mother's side grew up in a coastal fishing village near Qingdao, China. Apparently, I look a lot like him, and despite only having lived with him for a couple of months, my mannerisms are almost identical to his. According to my mom, I have all the quirks that he has, and even talk and gesture like him. Freaky huh?
  18. Yum Craw Papis, Ragetail Craws, Ragetail Lobsters, Zoom Horny Toads, Scum Frogs, Spro Bronzeye Frogs
  19. Get braided line. 30 pound test braid is about the same diameter as 8 pound monofilament.
  20. Shoot the geese when no one is looking. Save the fish!

Ever had a time when you were wearing a mesh mask and got shot on the part of the mask over your mouth? That paint stuff tastes pretty nasty!
  22. I personally find out what each technique's presentation is intended to imitate, and then test them in a large tub of water until I nail down how I should manipulate my rod in order to get the desired action on the bait. For instance, the shakey head is intended to imitate a feeding baitfish, with its head down, tail up and its head repeatedly hitting the lake floor like a baitfish pecking at food that has sunk to the bottom. This means you have to manipulate your jig in a way so that your worm or creature bait also has its tail up in the air wiggling, with the jig head hitting the bottom repeatedly in an erratic feeding motion. Try to achieve this in a bathtub full of water first - it may be different for everyone due to the shape of the jighead, weight of the bait, shape of the hook, stretch of the line, and more importantly, the height of the person and length of the rod.
  23. Went up to Evergreen Lake yesterday, but was only on the water for an hour as it started storming, at which point I returned the boat and drove back home. Didn't catch anything, but there's always next time.
  24. If you don't mind carrying a charger cord with you, go ahead and get a Core2 Duo laptop - it will probably get 2-4 hours of battery life depending on what you're running on it. If you decide to go this route, make sure to get a P-series processor and not a T or E series one (for instance, get a Core2Duo P8500 instead of a T9300 or E6600) as the T and E series have similar clock speeds as the current P series but eat up 2-3x the amount of power and generate a lot more heat. If you're after mobility and not having to charge your laptop every few hours, I'd go with a CULV processor like the Core2 SU series. You'd be sacrificing some processing power for battery longevity. For around 500 bucks though, I personally would get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220763&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Notebooks-_-ASUS-_-34220763
  25. Grats! I will be 20 in 2 days. Then it's just 365 more...
