  1. Sounds like you know it all then. Guess you don't drop shot, swimjig, crankbait, ripbait, or swimbait much, huh. BTW, invisibility is the LAST reason I'd use it for bass fishing. Don't get your panties in a wad man we are discussing fishing. We can debate all day about this but it would be pointless. I am basing those points off of what I read on here(and other forums) from other people's opinions and my own also. I am also basing it on the fact that everytime I hear a pro say something about FC they always say something about invisibility. When I see something said about adding a leader to braid about 90% of the time the person says they do it for line shy fish. No, I don't know it all and neither do you.
  2. Wasn't asking for advice. I'm simply saying this. Superlines are.... A. more sensitive B. smaller diameter C. stronger D. stronger knot strength with a Palomar E. have no stretch for better hooksets So, for other than abrasion resistance, invisibility is the only other reason to use fluorocarbon.
  3. If is doesn't make a difference then why would any tournament angler ever use anything other than a superline, except for in rocks? Pro's will always use anything they think gives them an advantage. Why? Because they don't have to pay for it. The big difference between them and us is the fact that we have to buy our products which makes us choose more discreetly whether a product actually is giving us more fish, or a better performance, thus justifying the amount of money we have just spent on the product. If an angler really doesn't think that fluoro gives him an advantage over mono then he certainly isn't going to shell out the money for the more expensive line.. Not all tournament anglers are pros, and there are VERY good reasons to use fluorocarbon other than just rocks. Let's hear them...
  4. Hate to see one get hooked in the eye. I don't even like to think about losing an eye, can't imagine how hard it would be for a fish.

  6. I don't know why I didn't think to just ask you instead of posting. I'm going to try to hit Ross-B one day when it's a little warmer like a high of 60-65. I'm going to fish the dam at Okatibbee Lake here in Meridian soon.
  7. I agree. I have tried dang near everything from $2 per spool to $40 per spool and CX Premium is the best all around line I've ever used. It doesn't stop me from using it on topwater but it does sink faster than mono. Don't get it confused with CXX. It's a completely different line.
  8. I've hauled in five fish over 8.5lbs. this year with my Core reels. Three of them were accompanied by a healthy chunk of salad and they did quite well. Mine are the 50's though. The Core and Chronarch are the finest quality reels and I'm sure you would be happy with either one. I can't give you any feedback as far as durability because I got my first Core (bought two more immediately after)about 5-6 months ago but I had a Chronarch for 16 or 17 years and it was still super smooth and tight. Both felt great to me but I wanted the weight savings and am glad I did, the weight difference really increases a rod's sensitivity. Go to the store, get them to put both on rods, and see which you like. Then, go home and order it on ebay to save $60-70 lol
  9. Could someone give me some advice about what lures to use on Stripers. I'll be fishing a 13,000 acre lake in Mississippi. Right now outside temps are running anywhere from 45 to 60 degrees. Could you also include what areas I'll be able to find them in. Please be specific in detailing the tackle...like what size and weight jighead to throw soft swimbaits on etc etc
  10. I am fully aware of what nanotechnology is. They can change the properties of elements at a molecular level so why not fluorocarbon? I never said that it will happen or even possible. I said what if?
  11. What are the limitations of the floater? Does it run right up top no matter how you retrieve it? Does the slow sink stay at the depth you begin the retrieve at?
  12. I am aware of this. But I think this is more talking about taking loose fibers and making cordage out of them. Like single ply cordage, double ply, ect. If you were to go out, gather some hemp fibers, and start to twist, I am absolutely positive that the many small strands is better that the one big one. I think part of that is because they squeeze each other together under tension. But with FC, you can synthetically make one long, unbroken "fiber", I am not sure what rules apply. :-/ But maybe I'm still missing the point. When I responded to you earlier, I actually breezed through and missed YOUR point...my mistake Yeah, I don't know what rules apply either. This is all just conjecture anyway. It's probably not possible but maybe something new will come around that's even better than anything we have to date. I'm an optimist. "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." Albert Einstein
  13. Happens to the best of us....thanks for the support though.
  14. X2 It's not a full-cork but a split-grip eva. I bought one for my brother, it was the most sensitive rod I could find(@ Woods n Waters and BPS) for less than $100. I agree about getting a MUCH better rod if you dish out $40-50 more and get a Shimano Crucial or Dobyns Savvy Series.
  15. Bassclary-JF was joking Trevor-You're missing the concept. What is braided line? Small strands of dyneema/spectra whatever woven together to make a super strong small diameter line. What if they could take small strands of FC and do the same?
  16. Wouldn't that be awesome? If they could somehow manufacture tiny strands of FC (or even mono) that were weaved together then coated/fused together to make a perfectly round profile, that would be the ultimate fishing line. It wouldn't have the strength or sensitivity that "braid" has but the invisibility would trump those characteristics in my opinion.
  17. The only reason I'm mentioning brand is because I went looking for a jig rod and this one was perfect for me... Cumara 6'8'' Med.Hvy. X-Fast
  18. X2 Kroil is the best penetrating oil I have ever seen. Pricey but worth 5x the price when you need it.
  19. I've started doing it after each trip. However, I haven't quite trained myself to remember to tighten it back up every time. I usually get a little laugh at myself when I set the hook on a loose one. Better safe than sorry.
  20. I've finally trained myself to loosen off the drag star on my baitcasters when I'm finished fishing for the day. Should I do the same with my spinning gear?
