I'm never buying tackle on ebay again...
The shipping can absolutely be sinister in this way unless the ebay seller is putting the value of the item in the shipping costs. Then even though its wrong, per ebay rules,I wouldnt have heartache about it. Example: A high end Shimano reel(or whatever brand you like) normally retails in stores or Bass Pro Shops for $200 The seller lists the Reel on Ebay for $.01(1 penny) with $199 shipping. So you are still getting the reel for the same $200 you would pay for it in a store ect,but now the seller has to ship the item, which will deduct from the original profit, lets say it costs $10 to ship. Do the math. You just picked up a reel for $10 LESS than it cost at Bass Pro Shops. Not a huge savings, but some savings nonetheless. What I do get angry about is when someone lists an item for $5.00 With shipping of $12. I get the item and shipping was only ACTUALLY $2.50. When asked about the High Charge of shipping vs. Actual shipping costs, then the seller goes on to say that the "overage" was for "materials, time and fue.l" To top it off they use a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Box to ship the item in (which is FREE at the Post office) and they have the option of having the Mail Carrier pick the item up from their home. In that instance, whose fuel is it? How much did the seller pay for materials? A little tape? Some of those USPS Flat Rate boxes have self sealing sticky flaps. Time? Unless its unusually large or heavy,or requires special packaging, boxing the items up doesnt take but a matter of minutes. Ohhh and then I suppose the seller wants to be compensated for the "time" it took to take the pictures of the item, list the item, check the auction, answer any questions and send the invoice when the auction is over. There are some crooked ones out there, thats for sure!!! If you think about it though,Ebay and Paypal(which is owned by ebay,if you didnt know it) actually Triple Dips on thier fees. You list an item and all is well, they give you the price of how much it costs to list it at the end of the listing process(This is Dip #1) Dip#2 comes at the end of the auction when they hit you for the final Value fee(which really cant be calculated from the start because you have no idea how much your item will sell for or if it will even sell at all) Dip #3 is when the buyer pays you your money with Paypal, and Paypal skims their percentage off the top. Now if that isnt crooked,I dont know what is!!! Sorry about the long post, and for the shifting from one topic to another, but thats my opinion on things. This is what I'm trying to get at...in this case you don't have to buy it just simply move to the next item. There is no trickery or hidden fee. It's right in front of you.

I'm never buying tackle on ebay again...
That makes absolutely no sense.... : My gripe is seller claims shipping is $15 when the actual cost is like $8-$9.That's a $6-$7 rip off..and then let's say he's got 20 items just like it. Now he's pocketing $120-$140 profit..which in my eyes is stealing.Because he lied about the actual shipping cost. Most Ebay stores always get the shipping cost right...atleast from my experience from buying on there. You can't be serious. How can you not see the logic in that? Before you bid, take whatever amount the shipping cost is and add it with the item's cost. If the total is more than you want to pay DON'T BUY IT! You are in control of this matter. That's why it's called an auction.

Alberto knot braid tag end tied how?
Good deal. Thanks guys. I usually seal it up with a little super glue anyway. While we are discussing it....can I cut the tag ends as short as possible as long as I don't touch any part of the knot itself?
-
Whats your scent opinion?
That's my experience as well. When the bite is on, it's on but this can sometimes make finicky fish, in the boat fish

Is One Soft Plastic Brand better than any other?
Yes! Yes! Mine are the best! Call 1-800-RIP-OFFF and leave bank account number. We call back in six to twenty-two months. Wait by phone. This is a joke.

I'm never buying tackle on ebay again...
Yes, because the poor folks at ebay may starve this winter if they don't get their 12.5% LOL!!!!

Whats your scent opinion?
I haven't used megastrike but it's the only other scent I may try in the future. Having said that, you are right on the money with the Bio-Edge wand. I got the night crawler scent. Works great. Stays on the lure for a long time. You won't get a drop on you, your carpet, or your clothes. Stay away from anything that's not in a paste-like form that will stick. Don't have to be a physicist to figure this one out.

Alberto knot braid tag end tied how?
On tackletour one of the guys tied a fluoro leader onto braid using the Alberto but he mentioned that he tied up the tag end of the braid. Does anyone know what knot he used?

I'm never buying tackle on ebay again...
I know this is a bit off topic and has nothing to do with my situation but I have to ask... Some of you are fussing about high shipping cost on ebay, why? All you have to do is add the shipping cost plus the item price. If the total is more than you want to pay....don't buy it. Why would $15 shipping + $5 item cost be any different from paying $15 item cost + $5 shipping? The total is still $20 either way.

Foof me once, shame on you. Foof me twice, shame on me :-/ The best price is seldom the best deal. Words to live by Yeah, I'm with you 100% on that. I didn't think about it until I had already ordered the other stuff from him. In fact it didn't even come to mind until the deal started to go sour. It took me many more words than you to get my point across but like you said... The best price is seldom the best deal.

I'm never buying tackle on ebay again...
I am that POd. Like I said before, I was willing to let the shipping fly but he hasn't sent me the right item yet. That was the real problem. Something I failed to mention, he did the same thing a couple of months ago. I bought a Cumara from him and the same thing...paid for Priority got Parcel Post. He slid that one by the Post Office. He pre-printed his label and put in smaller dimensions than the package actually was to avoid the bubble charge for an over-sized package. That was the first thing I bought from him and thought maybe someone had made a mistake but now I know he is just a crook.

As far as jacked up shipping prices go... There is no rip-off there. There is no difference in buying an item for $15+$5 shipping than buying it for $1+$19 shipping they both still equal $20 Not trying to argue with anyone about this. Just wanted to shed a little light about "jacked up" shipping. There is nothing sinister behind it.

I'm never buying tackle on ebay again...
Bad luck no. It was ignorance on my behalf for fooling with someone that has 99.2% positive. I've never had a single issue with someone that has 100% positive feedback. I am also a seller(with 100% positive feedback) and know how hard it is to satisfy every single person when you have thousands of transactions every year but it happens. Making money on shipping is not the issue here. I make money on shipping to. Everybody does. Ebay gets so and so percentage of the final sale price. You tack a few bucks on shipping because ebay doesn't get any of that money. This is not dishonest because it doesn't change the final value the customer pays. This guy charged me for Priority then used a slower, cheaper method of delivery. That's false advertisement.

I'm never buying tackle on ebay again...
Unless their feedback is 100% I won't buy tackle on there again. Not 99.2, not 99.6, not even 99.9999999%. I rarely meet a fellow angler that's a jerk. These forums are a testament to the character of fisherman abroad. Sure, there's an idiot here or there but mostly good people. So, why then are there so many crooks in the tackle industry? I've dealt with some horrendous people in it and not just on ebay. First this guy rips me off on the shipping. Charged me for Priority then sent it First Class. Priority takes 2-3 days from Ca. and it took 9 days for him to ship from NC to me. Ca. is twice over twice as far away. I ordered several items. Most were correct but he sends me regular Tru Tungsten worm weights instead of the T-Rig weights like I ordered. No big deal. I tell him and he responds with just keep those and I will send you the T-rigs immediatly for free. Well, since he was so quick to resolve the problem I am willing to forgive the shipping issue and leave him positive feedback. That was over two weeks ago...still no T-rigs. Yeah, I'm getting a FISHING FEVER from this TACKLE shop alright.

Can anyone ID this rod?
http://www.***.com/Pflueger_President_Spinning_Reel_10_Bearing/descpage-PPSR.html http://www.***.com/Berkley_Lightning_Shock_Spinning_Rods/descpage-BLSS.html You can probably find the Pflueger reel cheaper somewhere else. A rod under $50-60...the only one I've fished lately is the Berkley Lightning. For the price I think it's a great rod.

Seaguar Tatsu
Man, I want to try this line sooo bad. I opted for Sunline Shooter METAN Camo because Invizx stretches so much that I was concerned Tatsu may do the same. I keep having break offs with the Shooter METAN and the casting distance sucks on my shakyhead so I'm about to be looking for something new. I wish more companies would adopt the camo style color of Shooter METAN.

Yo-Zuri Fluoro Question
Most fluoros need conditioning. There are several different brands. There's BPS Line Saver Line Lube, KVD Line & Lure, Ardent Line Butter. I've used all three and I like Line Butter. It goes alot further than the others. They help relax the line memory. Line getting brittle...find a new line.

What kind of budget are you working with? Do you want a baitcaster or a spinning reel?

Need line recommendation
I don't care for it in larger sizes but Fireline 4lb. is going on all of my ultralight spinners for crappie. If you want to go cheaper P-Line CX Premium is awesome.

Can anyone ID this rod?
I haven't the faintest clue what application it's for but I would do a little research on it before I busted it out of the original packaging. Not saying it is but, it could be worth something. As far as using it....the cheapest stick at Wal-Mart is probably light-years ahead of it in quality due to newer materials and manufacturing process'.

Dull hooks on LC's
Those are the exact same ones I was talking about. I noticed they always ended around $0.99 and knew something was up. Guy that started the thread.... I bought dozens of LC's this year and didn't have a single issue. I would call Lucky Craft. Something is wrong because you're products have to be first class to sell them for 3x the cost of others and stay in business.

Dull hooks on LC's

Post some fishing love (Photo Thread)
Try taking your reel off and loosening up the seat all the way. Wrap a little bit of teflon tape around the threads then put the reel back on. That should take care of your problem. Teflon tape can be bought at Lowe's, Ace, Home Depot, Marvin's...your local hardware store. Just tell them you need teflon tape for plumbing. 1/2in wide should suffice.

What gear ratio for swimbait rod
The new Curado 200E series will hold more than enough 20# fluorocarbon. I can't speak about how much 30# because I don't use that heavy of a line.
