  1. However odd it may seem, until someone else has the same problem, an isolated incident is the only feasible explanation. I have gone over all guides over and over and can't find even the slightest questionable spot. Well...at least I have a reason to try 832 now ;D
  2. Bandit hands down. They have an awesome color selection and object deflection is much better in my opinion.
  3. Like I said before...three different rod/reels. No bad guides, I've checked.
  4. I tried different lighting, different background, light behind backgrounds, etc, etc...this is the best I could do. Is it an isolated incident? Maybe, hope so. Wouldn't be the first.
  5. I can't speak firsthand about the NRX rods but I have found that ignorance is bliss with high end fishing gear. If I don't pick it up to feel it then I won't be leaving the store with it.
  6. Dodge-Why don't I try Fireline Braid? Because you are the only person on Earth that likes it! HAHAHAHAHAAA J/k man I couldn't resist. I promise I will try it before the spawn. It is what it is. Everything I described happened on three different rod/reels. I'll keep it on one of my reels just to see how it performs on down the road.
  7. Please keep in mind that I hold no allegiances to any company whatsoever. Until one of them starts giving me money and or products anyway. Daiwa Samurai 40lb./8lb. dia. on Shimano Cores and Curado E's Out of the box this is some fine feeling line. No doubt, the eight carrier construction makes for a very soft and silky finish. This was the first warning flag to me. It's so soft that it kind of behaves like rubbing sandpaper across silk when being fished in contact with cover. If you are fishing open-water it's all fine and dandy but heavy-cover fisherman beware. I haven't fished this line but maybe a month and it's already fraying. What bothers me so much is that I haven't put it through any real heavy stuff but it looks like it has been. No, I don't have a bad guide on the rod or reel. I really feel like it's less sensitive than some other brands to. It's the smoothest and quietest superline I've ever used but that's about the only thing I like about it. I'm sticking with PP until something I like better comes out. I'm going to try 832 next. It was pretty finicky casting as well(especially when line retrieved wasn't good and tight) BUT going up one line size would probably cure that.
  8. Yeah, sorry about that. Didn't mean to send you into cardiac arrest but I was a little upset. I am really liking this line. Very sensitive, good knots, and low stretch. Those three aspects are the most important to me and so far it's the best FC I've used in those aspects. Don't get me wrong, it casts great, that's just not a big issue to me when using a baitcaster. I need 8lb. for shakeyhead to. I think this Toray maybe a little stiff for spinning gear tho. Let me know how the 8 feels. I really want to try Shooter and Tatsu. So many people say Tatsu is the cream of the crop but I have a bad taste in my mouth from Seaguar. Silly putty....I mean Invizx has that terrible stretch problem. I'm hesitant to try Tat because of that.
  9. I racked up on Black Friday discounts. Picasso Shake-E Footballs $3.49 Toray Solaroam SH Upgrade $29.60 Shooter Metan Invisible $16.00 LC BDS 3's $13.60 MegaStrike Evolution E2 Heavy Cover Jigs $6.39 Power Tackle Lateral Perch $10.39
  10. Does anyone know of a swept carbon fiber handle made for the Shimano Core 50? If not made for, one that will fit on a Core.
  11. I have this rod. Very soft tip with a great backbone. The first time I picked it up I thought there is no way this rod has a backbone, but I was very wrong. Very light rod too. Paired with a Stradic CI4 2500 it is a very sensitive rig. I felt the same as you about the GLoomis. Great rod just a little to stiff up top. Get your hands on the rod before you buy regardless of which one.
  12. Could someone please fill me in on the bait monkey.
  13. I totally jumped the gun on this one. I had a reputable source(not saying anyone else who has commented on this is not reputable) inform me that it indeed has a slight gold tint. I went ahead and spooled up. So far everything is looking very good. It handles quite well for 16lb. line. I know three days of fishing is hardly adequate to consider it "battle tested" but I know what I like, and I am liking it.
  14. The best way I can explain my love and trust in Shimano is this.... In 93' or 94'(getting old, can't remember) when Shimano came out with the Chronarch, my buddies all called me a fool for paying $200 for a fishing reel. Just being conservative we'll say that reel is 16 years old. For 16 years that reel has been on every single fishing trip I have been on and I fish alot. I replaced one spool shaft bearing(three months ago) and that's the only part that has ever needed replacing. That reel is still smoother, quieter, and tighter than most $200 reels today. I sold it on ebay two months for $152. That is why I choose Shimano.
  15. LOL MegaStrike....Taking customer catering to a whole new level!
  16. If you are going to spend $200 give or take $50....There's not a rod out there that can touch a Cumara in my opinion. Weight and sensitivity are unrivalled. I got mine for throwing a little heavier T-rig it is a 6'8'' Med Hvy. Extra fast paired with a Shimano Core 50. I typically throw 3/16-3/8 T-rigs and jigs. A 1/8oz T-rig is the smallest I throw on mine, but it still handles it quite well. Much like you, I put a figure in my head($250) and went and felt of every rod I could find in that price range. The Cumara is what I ended up with. Just go feel the rod's and decide for yourself. Don't buy one because I or anyone else say this rods better than that one.
  17. Like buying a Metanium instead of a Chronarch? All of my Cores and Curados have made in Japan on the box but my Stradic CI4s have made in Malaysia on them. Are all CI4s made in Malaysia?
  18. I'm still caught off guard at how light my Stradic CI4 is when I pick it up. The new Pflueger is sporting some pretty low numbers to.
  19. Sloppiness is a problem for me. I like everything smooth and tight....in short SHIMANO
  20. That's really what I wanted to know, if it had a little gold tint already. I've had a change of heart. I'm going to keep it and just see what happen's. I know it's expensive but I would rather spend the time it would take to package and ship it back, out on the water. 8-)
  21. Thanks everyone, especially that little bit of info about Hot Sauce and Shimano's. I guess I'll continue to use HS in my old Pfluegers but stick with the oil Shimano sends with their reels.
