  1. I know this to be very true...I caught a 8.5 a few years ago that had a 12 inch bass halfway down it's throat.
  2. Have you checked your guides to see if there is a rough spot?
  3. Alright, good. Thanks. Smallies and spots beware I am coming for you in the am!
  4. Thanks, now could anyone answer another question about it for me? The spool shaft seems to have alot of play. With the drag tight you can grab the spool and move it up/down about an eighth of an inch. The slack is in the shaft, remove the spool and you can move the shaft that eighth. Is this normal? All of my other spinning reels have a small amount of slack but nowhere near this amount.
  5. That's not the point. If it comes with a bag, then I'm going to get my bag. Yes, ebay. I hadn't considered that. If I were selling reels on ebay I would probably check them to.
  6. I just got my "new in box" Stradic CI4 in and it has fingerprints all over it and the foam handle looks like it's been used. Maybe not used but a demo/display. If you don't think that's a big deal go pick up a demo reel at Gander Mountain, they are wore out. I was expecting it to come with a reel cover/bag, but I'm not sure if it's suppose to.
  7. I'll keep an eye on it. I'm going to try the finesse size first. I don't like a super bulky jig.
  8. Uncle Josh MAXX Pork Phantom Craw trailers. Do these have enough buoyancy to actually "stand up" in a defensive position like a real craw?
  9. I live in Meridian and I fish Dalewood, Kemper Lake, Clarko, Okatibbee Res., Lake Tom Bailey and going to get after the Stripers at Ross Barnett in a few months. I also own a 10 acre lake that it producing some really nice fat girls. What about you?
  10. I fish in the SouthEast, Mississippi mostly. What time of the year is primetime for the big swimbait? I've had limited success with 3-3.5 hollow bodies over the summer and have not caught a fish on large hard SB's. I've tried SK's Sexy Swimmer, a 4in. Crappie(bought on ebay, can't remember name), and I ordered a Sebile Slow Sink Magic Swimmer yesterday to try this weekend. A sales rep at Mark's in Birmingham told me that the shad spawn is at the end of the summer and that's when the big swimmers are hot...is this true?
  11. If I remember correctly, Shimano has a patent on PP lines so that others can't copy their line size, components or manufacturing process. why would they?powerpro is outdated and there are far better lines being made. I just don't see it. Yeah, Samurai and Toray Bawo are better but they are also extremely expensive and in a different class. That's like comparing Vicious Fluorocarbon to Shooter or Tatsu....there is no comparison. I'm very hard to please when it comes to line but PP has never given me any problems. Not going to get into a my brand is better than your's debate with anyone so no need to rebuke. I've tried several others and didn't like them.
  12. I tried to view your link, but when I got to the site it says the topic doesn't exist. However, here is a link to power pro's company information, don't know if it will help at all. http://www.powerpro.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/power_pro_v2/info/using_powerpro0.html sorry if I'm kinda highjacking your thread Philsoreel Not at all man. Made it an interesting subject...
  13. That Pflueger Supreme XT on sale for $79.99 is alot better reel if you can spring the money.
  14. I have a 2000xi that's a little older. My brother picked up at Dirt Cheap for $13 and gave it to me for Christmas about 4 or 5 years ago. I just got it out this year. All has been well except the bail wire kept popping loose. A little clear epoxy took care of that. Possibly why it was $13 at Dirt Cheap?? It's still been a good reel.
  15. If I remember correctly, Shimano has a patent on PP lines so that others can't copy their line size, components or manufacturing process. That explains alot...lol...the root of all evil
  16. Yeah, I was just checking that out. I will still try it but why can't any other brand get the strength to diameter ratio that powerpro can?
  17. Please tell me they are going to make it in something smaller than 20???
  18. I'll agree with you about wanting to see the last lures tied on but I found it very informative about G-Man's bait selection. His color selection was obvious and it seems to me that he was targeting fish eating craws. Just my two cents.
  19. Anyone know when this line is going to hit the market?
  20. Most mid to upper level reels can handle light baits with the appropriate power/action rod. I think alot of reels get a bad rep from people trying to throw 1/16th lures on med hvy rods. What's the price range you're trying to operate in?
  21. I was using fluoro and he was using mono. I rigged his Carolina up for him, that's how I know we had the same everything except for the line difference. I would've tied on a mono leader but I got on them cranking.
  22. ...And the person fishing it. Biggest variable there is. LOL...yes that is the very first variable that came to mind. However, in this case I feel confident my skills were not the difference maker.
  23. Last weekend, my fishing buddy and I were fishing a local lake full of Kentucky Spots that are pressured. We both had Carolina rigs, same length leader, same worm, and the same hook. I'm not getting a bite and he is dragging them in left and right. I had on FC he had on mono. That variable only, was the difference between fishing and catching...
  24. Ok, so you can actually change your presentation with line type/weight much in the same way you would with cranking. Big mono=staying higher in the water column Smaller mono=lower Fluorocarbon=lowest.
  25. What I really want to know is will fluorocarbon make a plastic sink that would typically float with mono?
