Dang this is hard question haha. It all depends really cause the weather has been so up and down here. When you think the fish are ready for a transition some weather pattern stirs them up and scatters. as for baits when the bite is finicky (like kentucky lake 2 weekends ago) carolina rigged centipedes. Baits when the bite is typical: spinnerbaits, squarebills, t-rigged craws, and carolina rig. Note: carlonia rig is probably used 60 percent of the time cause..... the c-rig is the c-rig

Love the kvd 1.5 in chartruese black back and a excalibur chartruese blue back. Always have to change the hooks on the kvd's tho cause like somestated earlier they break. I never had it break I just had them bend completely out

Was just watching ncis and noticed when denozo made a reference to a movie he was wrong!! the actor said that in the movie angel with dirty faces(1938) that bogey(humphrey bogart) was a priest and cagney(james cagney) was a gangster. this is only half true. Cagney was a gangster and bogart was in the movie but bogart wasn't a priest that was pat obrien. Bogart was a crooked lawyer that cagney kills at the end of the film. Like to just point out how sad my life is that I can point this out....

Right now I'm fishing black/blue, black/red, and watermelon colors. I'm moving up shallow from the ledges and the points but still finding some fish deep chasing after shad that just havn't quite moved up yet.

Idk if anyone has fished on a body of water in the past 10 or 15 years but, we have had to deal with many different envasive creatures such as snakeheads and the poster child of envasive fish: the asian carp. Well, about a week ago when I went fishing on Tunica Cutoff(which is an oxbow off the Mississippi river and the River can get into when the water is high)I noticed hundreds of dead fish. These were not bass, crappie, gar, or even drum. These were all asian carp!!! This sunday in the outdoors section of the newspaper I saw an article talking about the lake. It said that there was a major fish kill and that the only fish effected was the asian carp. It also said that they are going to do further researh and find out if they have finally found a way to get rid of this slimy waste of fish. There maybe finally end to something that has destroyed hundreds of fisheries.

They work pretty well. I use the shad flavor on plastics at pickwick and kentucky lake and it helps alot. They don't get messy and the formula in it is perfect.

Try chartruese spinnerbaits, chartruese/black back 1.5 squarebills, black/blue or black/red jigs with a matching trailer(probably Paca Craw or Rage Tail), top water baits, and just play with the different areas. If you got structure the spinnerbait should be killer anywhere the way the lake sounds.

Hey everyone, As some of you know on here I am a senior this year which means this year is the last chance I'll get to take advantage of High School bass fishing. I really do not know how to start it. At my school there is very little interest and very few adults who would want to devote their time to help as in boating. Most just do not have the time in the day to help (like my dad) so I understand. My main goal is really not to do this for me but is to help bring bass fishing as sport to people who do not really understand it. What I think I need to do first is get people interested. I have an idea of hand picking out some what of a kit for people to get started but the hardest part is......money. Because most are not interested I do not expect anyone wanting to pay for anything. What I have not been able to find out is am I able to make a club of kids that are not just from one school and also how to join the other High School Fishing circuits. The only one I am able to find any info on is the Bass Federation but I can not find anything on the B.A.S.S. Any ideas would help tremendously. Austin

Haha yea your right. School is good so far enjoying senior year got 2 football games, a tournament at Kentucky Lake, and a bunch of school work this week so life is keeping me busy haha.

Not sure who else has access to these type of waterways but, ox-bows make up many of the lakes in the Mid-South and Mississippi Delta area but many do not see them worth fishing. Some say that ox-bows lack diversity in fishing and they become repetitive over time; that they can't compete with the fishibility of rivers and larger reservoirs. I think this is far from the truth. Ox-bows such as Tunica Cutoff, Horseshoe, Moon lake and others offer many different types of fishing. Some offer lilly pads, deep structure, matted grass, flooded trees, rocks, and etc all in one. I do not see how lakes like these can become "a boring fishery" or are "easier to fish" than river fishing. I know it is like comparing apples to oranges but still I don't think one is better than the other. Both offer different types of fishing and it is really all based upon the preference of the fisherman. This maybe all opinionated because I have grown up fishing these types of waterways but, I just get fired up when I here from a tournament angler that these lakes are not worth being fished on. All I can see is you go on these waters and try to use the same mindset and tactics of fishing on a river or larger reservoir. Sorry if this does not make since but it is a rant I have been holding in for awhile.

LSU did great but their offense didn't look good. As always their defense carried them. They need to switch out Lee and put in the new guy (said new guy cause I don't know how to correctly spell his name.

Im fishing a pond with the same type of conditions you are. It is extremely small and has lilly pads and grass pads surrounding the whole pond. What I have found that works the best is actually square bills, top water frogs,pegged rage tail craws, and also small weightless flukes that I throw right up against the edges. The pond I fish is probably 50ft by 50ft if I'm lucky but I catch alot of fish in the afternoon when it is hot because the fish are all up underneath the pads and grass. You can either fish the edges with spinnerbaits and squarebills( I recommend KVD 1.5 black chartruese if the water is stained) or throw up in there with a top water frog like a Koppers which works pretty well for me, or a t-rig plastic like a horny toad or rage craw. I'd say probably using a horny toad would work best because you can swim it across the the grass and pads then let it drop when your out of the cover. BTW try throwing into or near openings in the pads or grass because I've gotten a lot of hits by dropping into a "sweet hole" in the cover.

I don't see anything wrong with what you have or what you are doing but got to know though, where are you fishing and what type of conditions?

Jefferson is Jamarcus Russell except he is showing how bad he is before he goes to the NFL. LSU has always done well with a short fast guy at quarterback like Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn but I think Mettenberger would do a pretty good job but maybe Jarrett Lee if he gets a little more time.

Got another year but I got Senioritis like crazy haha. Got alot of work to do this last year but I am ready for it. Most of my friends have already graduated and have already started to leave and it just has me inticipating next year. Hopefully I am going to Alabama next year to study Metallurgical Engineering and hopefully I'll been on the bass club. Was thinking about being in a fraternity but I won't have the time nore the money to do it.
