  1. I love this one. 5'6" rod, light power. Spooled up with 6lb mono, this was an absolute blast during the spring and early summer. I got my PB (6.5lbs) and a 5+ bass on this. Finally the bale of the reel came apart after almost daily usage over 3 months, and I retired the old warrior. It was worth a helluva lot more than the 20$ I paid for it, and way more than it's retail price of 40$. Now-a-days they are on sale at my local Dick's for 15$ or so I think. I got mine in the 6'6" medium with the 2500 series reel, i've had it since june and it's still like the day I bought it, I have been maintaing it though, seems to be working. 8-)
  2. I got a Daiwa Samurai spinning combo at Dick's a while ago, the reel has quite a bit of the features that their higher priced reels do. It its quite quite smooth and comes without any line on it, leaving it open for you to put what you want on it. I've been really impressed with it and it's completely worth the $25.00 I spent on it.
  3. works pretty well too, I'd rate it up there with mobile 1 and castrol, lol, but really it is some nice synthetic stuff especially at around $4.
  4. Nice to see you got what you needed and it is working for you. By the way I replied to your post yesterday on my thread don't know if you looked at it or not. Happy fishing -Alex
  5. I picked up an okuma cayenne 200w as my first, so far I love it check it out, I got mine for $89.99 shipped.
  6. I used X-1R from Penn in the Angler's Pack, http://www.histackleboxshop.com/Penn-92342-Angler-s-Oil-And-Grease-Combo-Pack-p/penn-92342-o-grease.htm X-1R makes some pretty good stuff for Cars and boats, so I thought I'd give their reel care a whirl. I have also been looking to get mil-comm's lube and grease, bass pro sells it under their name, but mil comm makes some great stuff for weapons, it's only natural they do well with fishing reels. Check it out here: http://www.mil-comm.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=50 let me know what you think! 8-)
  7. I've been trying to, they are proving quite hard to find, but okuma says that their site should be back up tomorrow.
  8. Yes, thank you, so I did do it right. Thanks for the help 8-)
  9. take a look at the Falcon Bucoo and the Okuma EVX rods, just my two cents worth
  10. I called some service centers and okuma, the service centers, think that I'm ok but they aren't sure and they couldn't bring up the schematics either, Okuma's guy wasn't available to talk to me, so i'm still stuck.
  11. you know, I was looking for that page. GOOGLE YOU HAVE FAILED ME! lol, but the page won't open for me so I'm still stuck.
  12. I use the Cayenne low-pro baitcaster, got it for $80, works like a dream. high quality bearings, rigid frame, I think it stands up there with the big boys, its just the new kid on the block. By the way it's the same as the Serrano just without okuma's special corrosion resistance coating. Hope this helps you, if your thinking about getting one pm me and I can tell you where I got mine. -Alex
  13. I didn't see a fiber washer it just has two metal plates! :-?
  14. Hi all, Ok, so I performed some intense cleaning on my new okuma baitcaster, when I say new i mean I've had it for a couple of months, anyway, I pulled it apart and when I got to the drag system one of the plates fell off of course, I put it back together (the reel) after cleaning and lubing, the way I thought it went back together, it seems to perform perfectly. However, I want to be sure that I'm not messing up my reel. When I put the top drag plate back on after it fell, I put it back to where the concave was pointing up and the plates didn't fit together perfectly. Is this right or am I messing up my drag and reel?
  15. I've had good luck with the "purple haze" color in the strike king zeros, they offer a light and dark color combo in one bait.
  16. thanks for the info, good to know how to save a good fish from a bad day, especially if it has to go to the bathroom "ooo thats gotta hurt" lol
  17. that's pretty ridiculous, btw how do you give fish to charity? how did they keep them alive?
  18. Awesome, can't wait!
  19. "pit-chu pit-chu....got ya", just kidding Its more like "I have you now" (James Earl Jones voice)
  20. good lord, I bet that was a fun catch
  21. If you still have trouble with "walkin the dog", try a 2-1/2" or 3" popper, or try waking/burning a spinnerbait.
  22. fish often, fish slow, don't get mad, there's always tomorrow!
  23. Your just the person I've been trying to get in touch with, the forum won't let me send PMs yet. What time and where on monday, I would go Sat and Sun, but I have friends coming into town that I haven't seen in a while. Send me a PM. Thanks for the invite.
  24. Yeah, I've been going around 6:00 to 6:30 in the the morning, the LM I caught at Herb Parsons was around a 3 pounder and I caught it at around 2:30 in the afternoon when it was like 90 some odd degrees out, it's weird. Lately though the temp has been leveling off and cooling down, it's been beautiful out the past couple of days.
  25. Hello all, I've been in Memphis for four years now and finally got a Tennessee fishing license, anyways, I'm having trouble getting any fish at all in the area, had some luck at herb parsons, but I don't want to drive 30 minutes and pay $5 every time I go fish. Tried shelby farms, found out its horrible, especially since the people with live bait aren't catchin anything. I have recently tired the little retention pond behind the chik fil on germantown pkwy, got a couple of bites but they were to small to fit the worm in their mouth. I know I can catch fish, I do it all the time when I'm at my home in FL, but up here I'm having a horrible time . If anyone can help me, please do, it would be appreciated. P.S. - if anyone wants to go fishing I'm up for it, I've been almost every day this past week. Sunday I fished for over 8 hours straight, that is the measure of my resolve, lol.
