  1. I love catching smallies on jerkbaits. Actually dealing with one after it's landed on a jerkbait is not so fun though.
  2. In Kansas you're allowed to catch bait from one body of water (with no nuisance species and not down stream), and use them in another body of water but you cannot release them into that body of water once you're done fishing. So it's not unusual to see something like this when someone is done catfishing and dumps their baitfish on the bank and maybe someone kicked them down into the water or something. Or maybe someone intended to keep them and didn't get enough to eat and tried to release them and they went belly up instead of swimming off.
  3. I'm not sure dynamite would have worked Saturday. One of the toughest days I've had on the water in a long time.
  4. I don't have a certain bait that I throw first in mind. I always have a lot of rods out and which one I pick up varies wildly. Topwater is the fun option during summer time, but a lot of days it's a bladed jig, jig, T-rig, wacky rig, even a Ned.
  5. 100" is basically a perfect score in a kayak tournament here. I had 94" the first one of the year, that's my best so far.
  6. There's a guy that fishes La Cygne quite a bit with a decal on his truck. Not sure if he's the guy that made them or not. They do sound like the trashmaster jig. I made a couple jigs like that but haven't ever used them a lot.
  7. We tried Jack, Mullet, and Croaker as well as a live Whiting. That's why it's called fishing and not catching though. We'll be back to try again another time.
  8. We had storms unfortunately with quite a bit of lightning the seemed to push them out off the bank, never did get bit.
  9. You should see the rest of them ?
  10. I only picked up the 2 for now, give them a test run before I buy too many. I didn't see a clown color one but I'm pretty sure they have one. I know there's a couple unusual colors in the lineup. I'm going to fish the stock trebles most likely, starting out anyways. I really like the Fusion trebles, so I'll give these a shot.
  11. These things get bit. They are pretty small and heavy for their size though.
  12. I haven't understood squarebills for about 10 years now. It's like they just stopped eating them for me one day and aside from the winter months, it's a rare day there's even a crankbait tied on one of my rods.
  13. WTD topwater, don't really care which one. Jigging spoon or flutter spoon, doesn't matter because I'm going to be fishing it fast either way. Grub or paddle tail swimbait on a jighead.
  14. All mine are my homemade baits which are all wire tied, they don't move. I have 1 3/8oz Jackhammer that fits snuggly in with all the rest.
  15. The Magnum Trick Worm is a much thicker and I believe a bit longer than a standard trick worm, tends to get bigger bites. Black, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Candy, and Red Bug would be my colors of choice. YUM makes a good mag trick worm also, as well as the Mighty Worm if you want to go real magnum straight tail worm. I fish those and 7" stick worms on a swinghead with good results at times.
  16. I would not go above 8lb in the Cajun line for a spinning reel. It tends to have pretty bad memory issues and 14lb is heavy in any kind of mono on a spinning reel.
  17. Driving home from vacation this week, passing through the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. My wife see's scenery, I see Tennessee River and wish I was going fishing instead of driving home.
  18. The first cup of the day is my favorite coffee, I really don't care what kind it is.
  19. I tie an Alberto knot. Super easy to tie, very small profile, and very strong if tied correctly.
  20. I have a ceiling hoist I store mine crossways in my garage (It's a 52'X25' garage), above my boat. I haven't put it up there recently though, I just set it on the floor in front of my boat since it usually only goes a few days in between use.
  21. Bagley has the Bang O Spin Tail that is similar if you can't find the exact bait. Haven't fished them in a long time but I remember catching a lot of bass on the black/gold when I was a kid. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Bagley_Balsa_BangOLure_Topwater_Spintail_Jerkbait/descpage-BAGBLSP.html
  22. I use the Flicker Shad Shallow a lot for winter time bass fishing. It cast a lot better than the deeper diver version and floats very slowly with upgraded hooks.
  23. Plano has the Edge Jig/Bladed jig box that is the best one I've ever used for them. Still the one I'm using now and don't see myself changing anytime soon.
