I have 3 Ugly Stick Lite spinning rods that I use pretty often. They're mostly catfish/wiper rods, but I've used them for bass and they'll get the job down, way better than the original Ugly Stick. I've held a couple of the Carbons, I'd fish one without any hesitation.

tokyo rig question
Exactly, a solution to a problem that didn't exist. Why I've never bought any Tokyo rigs.

Kayak rod storage, dealing with trees
The typical rod storage option in a kayak is to store them vertically, usually mounted to the crate or something behind the seat. My issue, Saturday I'm fishing in a tournament and both lakes have standing timber, one is a virtual maze of trees. A rod sticking in the air is just asking for a broken rod. I have a peddle yak so laying them in the bottom of the yak isn't an option, so anyone have any other good storage ideas? I could lay maybe 2 rods on the floor tops. I'm going to try to keep rods to a minimum, but no way I can get it down to just 2, especially having not been on either lake in months. I thought about laying them next to my box in back but then they'll be sticking well past the back of the kayak and that's not any better than pointing them into the air. I'm looking at trying to keep it to 4-6 rods if that makes a difference. This video was filmed on one of them for an idea of what I'm trying to potentially navigate.

tokyo rig question
I haven't but couldn't you do a drop shot and accomplish the same thing?

Post a photo a day!
Is that a regular longhorn or a Watusi? I would have guessed Watusi with the horns being that thick. There use to be a monster Watusi right off the highway on the way to one of the lakes I fish often but haven't seen him the last few times, think they might have cashed in on those massive, valuable horns and hide. https://cattleinternationalseries.weebly.com/ankole---watusi.html

What's everyone's favorite campfire foods?
Bun length all beef hotdogs with a pot of mac and cheese is one of my favorite camping dinners. Burgers with baked beans is right up there too. Breakfast is an egg/bacon sausage scramble topped with cheese.

There's a few that get up around this way. A friend of mine had the Missouri state record for a minute. \

Casting reel for the inexperienced
How heavy? I've thrown upwards of 1.5-2 ounces on my Tatula SV TWS. Not a ton of line capacity but if you're not bombing cast, it'll do it just fine.

Feather on topwater?
Poppers are the only bait I like them on, and even then I don't really care if it does or doesn't. Hate them on walking baits. Too much drag for my liking, messing with the walking ability.

Thoughts on buffs and gloves in the summer
Sounds like some people with some deep seated feelings they're having a hard time coping with. I wear the gloves and buff. It keeps me cooler along with protecting from the sun. The faux leather on the palm of the gloves protects my hands from fish spines also.

Do female bass only spawn with like-sized males?
Males don't get as big as females, it's not really even plausible. Now I believe that bigger females probably choose bigger, healthier males, but a 8+lb female would never spawn if she only spawned with like sized males.

is this a Rock bass?
I almost, might have, broke the state record for Warmouth in Kansas a few years ago. My cheap Berkley scale said I was 2oz off, it was about 1/4" shorter than the current record, but real fat. Caught it flipping grass clumps with a RI Sweet Beaver.

Turtle dilemma
I've caught a bunch of turtles on lures. Snapping turtles are funny to mess with if you can see them and watch them stalking a bait, just as long as they don't catch it. The Kansas River must have millions of softshell turtles in it that love to grab cut bait and try to steal it off the hook. Occasionally one will get the bait down and I have to deal with them. They've got a nasty attitude and are way faster than a turtle should be. They're never big ones, just dinner plate sized. When I do catch one, I'm usually with my boys, I'll walk it way up the bank and set it down so it has to run back to the water. They think it's really funny how fast they are.

Does anyone else feel like they catch more quantity in current but more quality off of rock banks in slower moving water?
In rivers and streams, those little breaks in the current are my big fish magnets. It doesn't take much, 1 bigger rock or a branch is all it takes.

The Ugly Stick Carbon Rods are a long ways from a standard Ugly Stick. They're legit bass rods.

Is the misery of kayak fishing worth it?
I can kind of understand it, because I had a kayak that I didn't like before the one I had now. It was a hassle to use and even if conditions were perfect, it still wasn't that much fun to fish out of because I never felt real stable in it and it blew in the wind like a leaf. The seat wasn't very comfortable to me either, so after a couple hours I'd need to get out and walk around. Now with a nice, stable kayak with a good seat, I can fish all day, stand and fish, and never feel like I'm one little wobble away from getting wet. Being a pedal yak, control is so much better too.

6th Sense Vega Hollow Body Frog review.
My review is the complete opposite. One of the worse frogs I've ever fished. Constantly full of water and the hookup ratio is horrible. It does cast great and walks pretty well, but that does zero good when next to none of the bites are converted into landed fish.

Do you ever feel bad ?
I'm the same way. If I'm not giving you a hard time, we're not really that close of friends. I expect the same back when someone else is putting it on me.

I should have listened - C-TUG kayak cart
I have a C-Tug. I modified mine so it now has a ratchet strap instead of the strap that comes with it for an even more secure fit. I had one of the universal ones from Academy with my last kayak. I tried to use it once but spent more time fighting to keep my kayak on the cart than actually moving towards the water. It got retired to the garage until somehow one of the wheels got broke off of it.

is this a Rock bass?
Yep, that's a rock bass. Warmouth only have 3 spines on the anal fin whereas rock bass have 6, like the one in the OP's picture.

Turtle dilemma
What's a soft shell snapping turtle?? Find someone that likes to eat them and start giving them away. I use to catch big snappers on setlines for catfish. Found a guy that liked to eat them and would give them away to him every time I'd catch one. It happened way less often after that.

Shift work vs Mon-Fri?
I've been working midnights for over a decade because it's what I prefer and it works for my family. I get all kinds of hassle about it from command staff on why don't I go to days or do something else. It's what I like to do, it works for my family, someone has to do it, why not me?

Found my dream chatterbait rod.
Whatever you do, don't shut the butt of the rod in a car door. My bladed jig rod is in the shop thanks to my truck door and a heavy dose of sleep deprivation. Trying to use anything other than the rod I'm use to is proving difficult.
