Killing time before I could go get the parts to fix my boat trailer. Caught 4, this was the biggest on a 3.5" tube with a custom homemade 1/32 tube head with a 3/0 hook.

Well I found one heavier duty leaf spring in stock in the store I went to and got it mostly installed. Axle is 3" tall, spring is 2", I bought 6" U-bolts and they're a good inch too short?? They were the longest square ones they had so I guess I'll be ordering some. Already ordered the other leaf spring for the other side of the boat to upgrade it too.

Ima Flit Jerkbait from TW 25 days sale runs bad
The right one looks very off-center, left one looks like it could be as well. I'd try tweaking them back the opposite direction they're running and see if you can tune them back to center.

colored spinnerbait blades
That's the bait I was talking about. It works lots of other places too. Smallmouth love that bait.

Fishing Jerkbaits, if I am doing it wrong I don't want to be right.
If it's working, then it's not wrong. It doesn't sound far off from my warm water jerkbait retrieve.

Is the line tie bent?

Keeping track of bass caught
1228 after this last week. I feel like a Ned rig and jerkbait have accounted for at least half of those fish.

Does wading scare bass away?
I've waded for bass a lot. The initial disturbance often scares them away, but if you get positioned and then stay still, they'll come back quickly to investigate and those fish that do are often catchable.

Glad I was just moving it down the street for our garage sale this weekend. Not excited about getting to put new leaf springs on the trailer though. Pulled it down the street and hit a little pothole and heard a "pop", wheel well was sitting on top of the tire when I got out.

Family Feud
Steve Harvey kills me, I watch it just to watch him mostly. He's a bass fisherman too fwiw.

Proud daddy moments
He's been fishing since he was 2, but he's starting to get the hang of it pretty good now. On our family camping trip at the end of May, he was wearing them out on a Ned rig and ended the trip with his new PB smallmouth. It wasn't a big fish, but he was proud of it and it was big enough to put up a pretty good fight and he caught it completely by himself, even had the patience to get his 1/16oz Ned rig to the bottom in 20+ feet of water and leave it there, better than a lot of adults can do.

I was the sauger whisperer Thursday, snatching them out from under docks in a few feet of water on a Ned rig.

Midwest Finesse Jig Head Mold
Yes, the smaller hook and light head is the key to being able to finesse the bait through cover. I've tried to explain many times why the heavy heads and big hooks are defeating the purpose, but then they just put weedguards on them or make heavy offset hooks and pretend like it's the same presentation, when it's not. I just gave up and let guys fish their shakyheads and call them what they want, and keep fishing my baits.

Summer jerkbaits
Big fish of the day Thursday was on a jerkbait, 81* water. Watched my video and I was fishing it so fast it was almost a straight retrieve.

Trailers?
I've lost more than a few baits to rust from leaving trailers on. I just take them off after each trip now.

colored spinnerbait blades
The orange/red kicker blade in dirty water is great. War Eagle Coleslaw color is a great spinnerbait in clear water on cloudy days Local builder does one with one side of each blade painted and one unpainted. One is painted white the other is chartreuse. The fish tear that thing up.

Compact buzzbaits
Crock-O-gator is a smaller profile bait but plenty heavy to fish on casting gear. I like the 1/2oz or 3/4oz. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Crock-O-Gator_Head_Knocker_Buzzbaits/descpage-CRKOGA.html

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Took my buddy Tony fishing with me Thursday. Tony has Asperger's, so fishing with him always has it's own set of challenges but he really enjoys going so we make it work. He wanted to go to a lake where he could catch a variety of species, there was good scenery, we could go fast in my boat, and wouldn't see a lot of people, so I picked one and it turned out to be a great choice. We caught fish start to finish (both caught a fish on our last cast of the day), he got to catch several smallmouth which he never gets to fish for, his first drum ever (and several more), a white bass, some bluegill and sunfish, and a bunch of largemouth with his biggest of the day on a whopper plopper, which he'd never used before. I added a channel cat and 4 sauger to our species list. My first bass of the day turned out to also be the second biggest of the day at 3.91 on a Ned rig off a dock end. I caught one of the most deformed bass I've ever seen out of the marina. Big fish of the day was a smallmouth on a jerkbait. 81* water, jerkbaits don't work so just ignore that ? 5 minutes later and the next cast after catching the smallest smallmouth of the day, I caught another keeper that was 3.56 pounds on a 6th Sense Catwalk. All 4 of my sauger looked like this and all of them ate the same Ned rig. Tony's big one of the day. He was day dreaming pretty hard on the bite and I sounded like a dad watching his kids bobber when it ate the plopper telling him to set the hook. Same row of docks and same Ned rig as the first one of the morning, just a few tenths of pound lighter. Didn't get a picture of my last keeper of the day, phone over heated, but it was a 3.14lb largemouth that I hooked twice before finally putting in the boat. Crazy part was she jumped, I caught her in the net and I thought my hook popped out. Turned out, the hook actually broke on my Ned rig jighead after catching so many fish on it. The hook was still firmly stuck in the side of her jaw, got pretty lucky on that one. It was a good day and glad we could get out. Been fishing together since we met as teenagers working at Cabela's in KC.

21lb flathead on 4lb test on a 5' fiberglass ultralight with a tiny Yo-Zuri Killifish crankbait.

Snagging old fishing line
I pulled probably 50-70 yards of about 80lb solar green braid that was attached to a homemade weight that was in the 8oz range, tied to some limb line string, anchoring down a circle hook around 12/0 size from a small city lake a couple weeks ago. The braid was floating and I just barely saw the end of it, had I not, someone motoring through the middle of the lake likely would have ended up with it all in their prop. I'm not sure what they think lives in there. I've seen some 40-50 pound flatheads but this would have handled a fish twice that size no problem.
