  1. Welcome!
  2. Rage Menace or Havoc Pitboss rigged vertically, 3.8-5 inch swimbait, or 2/3 of a stickworm are my favorites.
  3. Every DT6 and DT4 I've owned the bill has pulled out of the bait. I swore off buying them due to that issue. Currently own 1 DT6 that I found in a tree. Mine were not due to user error or abuse, just poorly built baits. I hate to think of how mNy times I would be bumping them along through some rocks and all the sudden my line would go slack and my lipless bait would float up and I'd crank the bill in. Had a few pull apart while fighting fish too. They're great fish catchers, but too much of an issue for me to deal with.
  4. Obviously it would be @everythingthatswims
  5. Wolf was terrible today. If you want to catch a bunch of big drum though, get there NOW!
  6. Slider heads are one of my secrets on a couple local lakes.
  7. Warmouth and rock bass are completely different fish. We have warmouth here, but no rock bass. They look kind of similar, but the Ozarks is about as close as they get to Kansas.
  8. https://ksoutdoors.com/Fishing/Special-Fishing-Programs-for-You/F.I.S.H.-Program https://ksoutdoors.com/KDWPT-Info/Locations/Hunting-Fishing-Atlas/Fishing-Atlas You can pick up a free FISH Atlas at WalMart in the sporting goods department.
  9. Those little guys catch fish of all sizes, even big crappie and other panfish. I haven't seen any bigger fish taken on the smaller Storm bluegills.
  10. This is why I've switched to a lot of YUM baits. Everyone else is pushing their prices up, meanwhile I can still get a pack of YUM plastics for 3 or 4 bucks. Now with them releasing some of their other popular baits in 30 packs, icing on the cake man. They're even making one of my favorite jig trailers in one of my favorite jig trailer colors now.
  11. Welcome!
  12. More than anything, I'm growing tired of how much he complains in his blog about how bad the fishing has been. When you fish nothing but a Ned rig, and the water has been high and dirty all year, your results are probably not going to be spectacular. It's odd to me that it's blamed on the fisheries or fishing pressure instead of the fact that he fishes such a limited selection of baits and only during the middle of the day. I fish a lot of the same lakes, and I seem to do okay but maybe I have a lot lower standards I guess.
  13. I like a 1/16 or 1/32oz ballhead with a #6 Eagle Claw Lil Nasty hook, I pour them myself.
  14. I mean, that's what it's made for, but it's very rare I'm weighing any food. It's weighed 10X more baits than it has food items.
  15. I have 3 President baitcasters, the newer ones. They're all pretty nice, but every single one occasionally will spin backwards under a load. Probably just need cleaned, but they didn't get a lot of use before it started happening. I have a couple regular Speed Demons, one that I used for frogs for a couple years before I switched it to my swim jig rod. It's been a tank and still working just fine. They aren't the quietest reels, but they do cast very well and are extremely fast on the retrieve. They're a little bigger than most reels, like a 200B Curado size, but nothing crazy. I use the other one for buzzbaits, they've been good to me.
  16. Sometimes it's not all about the size of the fish you catch. I love fishing little creeks like that. Getting to watch them bite and trying to trick fish you can see is a blast.
  17. I was just wondering how Shawnee was doing now that I'm 30 minutes closer to it. I know the pleasure boat traffic has been bad out there this summer with all the big lakes closed down. Douglas County has lots of bank access and fish usually are very willing to bite, but size is lacking a bit. Spring Creek/Baldwin City Lake is kind of tough to fish from the bank but it's close by too as well as a couple walk in fishing ponds.
  18. I don't know who made them but I wonder if you could plasti-dip a current spinnerbait and get similar results?
  19. I thought so too. I haven't had a 9" Slammer for awhile, but when I did it didn't seem like it was nearly as large around as this one is. I need to find my kitchen scale so I can weigh it and see where it falls in that department. I know that Mike does some special request, not sure if this bait might be one of them.
  20. I've got a couple 2000 Revros that I use on guide trips for Neds and other light stuff and use them myself at times as well. They're excellent little reels.
  21. Saw on their FB page a Rage punch bug coming out. Kind of looked like a ribbed Menace.
  22. I'm guessing he meant 3/4oz. I don't know of anyone that makes a 3/4" bluegill bait, would be almost impossible to get any kind of swimming motion out of it.
