KNOW THE SIGNS
I went too long without drinking anything during a hot guide trip last Friday. Took a big drink of really cold water and had to drop to a knee to keep from falling over. It can happen fast, and I know better than to go very long without drinking water when it's this hot out, but even a hour can be too long when it's pushing triple digits.

Making My Own Spinnerbaits
Spinnerbaits is one that I knew I wasn't going to save money making, but I can make ones that I can't go to the store and buy (although the new Covert spinnerbaits from Booyah aren't too far off).

ANOTHER LIFE LOST
I wear a manual inflatable, if I fall out and get knocked unconscious it won't matter if I'm wearing it or not.

ANOTHER LIFE LOST
That's the minimum Kansas requires, they can't be in storage of the boat to count. At least if they're floating and you're floating there's a chance to use them. If they're in the boats storage while it's sinking to the bottom of the lake they're not going to do any good.

ANOTHER LIFE LOST
They don't do any good unless you wear them or at the very least have them in reach. I wear mine 100% of the time on my kayak.

New Rage bait prices on TW?
That's the price they were listed at for ICAST too so I wouldn't get your hopes up on the price dropping.

Ever Seen A Bass With Red Eyes
FWIW, all of the fish we call "bass", are black bass. There's 9 different species of black bass in North America.

Post a photo a day!
Man down! Boys were running around the back yard in the sprinkler and Lake dropped like he'd been hit by a sniper. I saw blood running down his heel as soon as I started towards him and he dripped blood all across the floor on the way to the bathroom. We got the bleeding stopped pretty fast and got the cut cleaned out pretty good but never did figure out what he stepped on. It's covered up pretty good with Neosporin in the picture, but it's a pretty good sized gash. He was up walking around not 5 minutes after I taped gauze to the bottom of his foot though. The best part of the whole thing was my poor, childless, single buddy was over for dinner because he were going night fishing afterwards. He got to experience the whole thing and while my wife and I were dealing with Lake, Finn decided to get completely naked and keep playing in the sprinkler. So next thing we know, a bare azzed 2 year old is streaking through the house soaking wet with 2 Golden Retrievers chasing him, dog toy in one hand and blue icy in the other. If he was ever thinking about having kids at some point, he's probably seriously reconsidering.

Kastking Speed Demon Frog Rod
I have a few Speed Demon Pro rods and really like them but the frog rod isn't one of them. Those specs seem way off.

Shimano or Daiwa?
Gotten rid of almost all of my Shimanos and switched to mostly Daiwas. Still have a few 200B Curados, a 50B Calcutta, 200E5 Curado, and 100B Chronarch. Only Shimano I'm keeping is a 300E Curado and I'm not completely sold on keeping it.

Helios SX
Love mine, have it paired with a Helios 7' 6" H/F for fishing jigs. One of of the nicest reels I own.

Black Whopper Plopper or a black Choppo
I have not had much luck on the black plopping baits. Low light conditions are about the only time they've done me much good. I'd much rather fish a bone or white colored one.

Hollow body vs solid body paddle tail swimbaits?
Solid body baits are going to be more dense, so you're going to get a different sink rate from similar sized baits. IMO, solid body baits are easier to rig because you have more plastic to work with and there's more rigging options. How they wobble is going to depend on the rigging and how soft the plastic is.

Can I use a frog hook on a hula popper?
No, those frog hooks are way too big for the back of a Hula Popper. You need something like these in a size 6 or 4 depending on the size of the Hula Popper. https://www.jannsnetcraft.com/double-fish-hooks/845244.aspx

New Hula Popper 2.0
I don't know that I'd ever fish it, but I might buy one or two just to have them for nostalgia sake.

night fishing?
Buggy bands, way less mess. Wore one on my ankle last night all night and didn't get a single mosquito bite.

Does it hurt a fish when you drop it
Fish seem to be extremely durable and very fragile at the same time. I've caught them with massive, gaping wounds and spines so disfigured it was a wonder they could swim. Then I've had ones that seemed to be hooked in an area that should have been fine, and they go belly up about as fast as I can get them unhooked and back in the water despite careful handling. Fish live in a dangerous world, lots of things out there "can" injure or hurt them, I just do my best to try and be careful with them and not cause any extra harm to them.
