  1. It's a pretty easy fix. If you can find out the type and size of guide they use, I'd do that and order the exact replacement. If you're not confident in your ability, pay someone a couple bucks to do it.
  2. Okuma just went through a pretty good overhaul with their split from Savage Gear. Maybe he didn't jive with someone there now. Other than the added exposure, a very questionable move as it's a huge step down in the quality of gear.
  3. Terrible. Couldn't even imagine. I was in a bus wreck when I was in school. My little sister and I were the first 2 on the bus every morning and lived on top of a hill. Someone wasn't paying attention and crossed over the line and hit the bus head on as soon as we sat down going 50 mph. It was a pretty violent collision even in such a large vehicle.
  4. This is exactly how I fish mine in ponds and small lakes this time of year, parallel to deep banks. Fish will often be very close to the shore even in cold water on those steep banks. Small twitches or just pulling it forward, then long pauses is key.
  5. If I ever lose that excitement then it's time to stop fishing.
  6. Welcome!
  7. I never said it would break it, actually said it could be done, just not the best idea. I overloaded rods when I started out swimbaiting. It worked, but they weren't built for swimbaits so even though they would throw them, they didn't work well for it. Different types of rods have different ratings. I've got saltwater rods that are only rated heavy, but up to 80lb test and 12oz. Swimbait rods are rated differently also. My MH is rated 2-6 ounces.
  8. The only one that actively repelled fish was DEET, that I know for sure.
  9. Studies have shown that fish are only deterred by about 3 different smells, gasoline and oil weren't on the list. If you're worried about it, get a good scent and cover the smell up.
  10. Keep them in the original packaging instead of putting them in a tackle tray helps. I've never had any issue with baits getting dried out or aging in their original package.
  11. They've been working on the dam out there a lot. The water level has been fluctuating a lot (mostly very low). I've heard it can be fun if there's enough water to launch a boat though.
  12. Those are the areas I've been catching most of mine and all the popular spots have been pretty empty.
  13. They're terrible, I want to watch someone actually fishing. I've seen fish hit cigarette butts floating on the surface of the water. They'll eat anything if you fished it long enough but did you learn anything or really accomplish anything? Easy solution, I don't watch those channels.
  14. I've ordered a few times and always been happy. Got a couple of their fleece face shields this winter that have been amazing how much warmer they are than the hunting face covers I use to wear.
  15. I have 8, 10, 15, and 20 pound spools I know for sure and maybe others. It's a very good all around line and I like that I can buy it at Walmart anywhere around here for a reasonable price. You can fish cover too like docks, rocks, bridge pilings, or individual logs. In ponds or small bodies of water where you don't have a lot of water to cover, you can use them to cast and retrieve slowly wherever you want.
  16. It probably "can" handle it, but I wouldn't for an extended period of time. For one, it's a full half ounce over what the blank is rated. 2, I'm going to guess that's a flipping/punching rod that isn't going to be well suited for fishing swimbaits even if it can maybe cast one.
  17. They're a slow presentation, so they're kind of a target bait, but not something you want to throw into heavy cover. I like to fish points, rock piles, ledges, and sometimes around docks with them. They do tend to hang up in wood and are worthless in grass, so if you have lots of wood or more than a tiny bit of grass, you're probably better suited using something else.
  18. Welcome from another eastern Kansas member!
  19. I've never liked Hybrid so I can't really give a comparison of the 2. I actually use this line on my shakyhead rod and also a couple jig rods and it does great.
  20. Bass Hunter Bass Magnet I believe.
  21. I'd be interested to see someone who is really good at dropshot fishing to fish some of our lakes to see if it's just the lakes around here or if everyone around here just sucks at dropshot fishing.
  22. Hadn't heard anything either but I'm immediately excited!
