A CATastrophe
Yep, both of mine LOVE being in the boat and going fishing. I'm getting a serious guilt trip and cold shoulder from both of them tonight for going fishing without them today.

Post a photo a day!
Warmer days, finally getting to do some playing outside! I have a feeling these toys are just going to get bigger and faster as they get older. They're both daredevils.

That's an amazing reel for $40, I love mine.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
That's crazy! I've caught 2 tagged fish in my life, one was a tagged walleye that was worth $5 (less after I paid to mail in the tag to the state). The other was a freshwater drum? Nobody had any idea why it was tagged even though it was a state tag.

Hello from Central Kansas!
Welcome from another KS member! Wilson SFL or Wilson Reservoir? Haven't fished the Reservoir in years but fish the SFL a few times every year, it's a lot of fun. I actually did good from my kayak at the SFL early last year.

Red eye bass?
100% largemouth. They can have bright red eyes just like a smallmouth or spot can. This is a largemouth from a lake in Kansas with no spots and very few smallmouth. There's very few lakes with spots or smallmouth in Kansas actually and there's only the 3 main species here.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
16 bass and my first bluegill of the year on the same jerkbait, this time at Osawatomie City Lake this morning. They were super dinks though, I doubt I caught one bigger than 10" and one was probably barely over 4".

Favorite Braid For Frogging & Flipping ?
Smackdown for frogs, flippin briad for flipping. I'd use Smackdown if I was going to use 1 for both.

B. O. A. T. (Bring out another thousand - boat owners support thread)
The Duracells? I have 2 in my boat but was going to buy 2 more and put the the 2 in my boat into the johnboat and drop the new ones in my Stratos. I'll have to go pick them up now if that's the case. Other than batteries, bought a new gas tank for the johnboat. Old one wasn't picking up gas anymore and is probably a decade old, way bigger than I need for all the more I run the gas motor on it, it was time to go smaller and newer. New coupler for my kayak trailer. Old one doesn't lock down anymore, popped off the ball on me 3 times last year while towing it. The tow chains are short so it doesn't hit the road or anything, but it still sucks. Last time I broke out another thousand was last spring for a new steering cylinder on my Stratos. Serious design flaw caused a major issue that ruined more than one trip and I was tired of dealing with it. New cylinder fixed the problem thankfully. Should have done it the first time, already would have paid for it all the time and money I've spend repairing the problem cylinder.

Early season lures?
I don't know if it's because it's the first good bite of the year, or if I'm really that addicted, but I don't think I enjoy anything other than jig fishing as much as I enjoy jerkbaiting.

DRT KLASH 9 and TINY KLASH
I paid $60 for my K9. I've got a connection stationed in Japan though. Going to get a TK before he finishes his tour.

Favorite creature baits for skipping?
YUM Bad Momma. Bait gets no love but it's compact and it's somewhat oval body shape seems to make it skip very well. It's a little shorter bodied than most other beaver style baits. I fish it with a 1/4oz weight and 3/0 EWG a majority of the time.

What is a glide bait?
They're more of a straight retrieve swimbait but can be really effective.

Anti-Reverse Switch
Not many bonefish in Kansas but I do it all the time with carp over 20lbs, wipers nearing double digits, catfish up to 50lbs, never had any problems.

Big Fish on Light tackle, little baits
10lb braid, 8lb mono leader, ML/XF spinning rod, 1/16oz head with a #2 hook and a TRD (Ned rig). One of my biggest 5 of the year last year fell for a 1/8oz micro finesse jig on 8lb flouro and a M/F spinning rod under a dock. Kind of easy to miss but the bait is laying on top of the fish on the measuring board picture.

Anti-Reverse Switch
I'd rather control the amount of pressure being put on the fish than the drag do it. I can decide instantly, without messing with the drag while trying to fight a big fish, to add to take away pressure. If a fish makes a run at some cover, I can increase pressure to try to stop them. Never had anything mechanical fail? That's why I backreel with spinning reels and release and thumb the spool with baitcasters. It puts all the control into my hands.

dock talk...
I don't ask, and I'm selective about sharing information. If someone openly shares when I ask if they did any good, I'll listen, but not going to plan my next trip on that information if they said they did good.

Junk Fishing!!
That's exactly what it is to me, and what I do most of the time on smaller lakes. Launch the boat, put the trolling motor down and start fishing. Usually involves 10-12 rods on the deck with a wide variety of baits tied on them. 3 rods on the deck means I have something really dialed in, which is pretty much the opposite of junk fishing.

How should I change it?
Have you tried something like a keel weighted hook with a screwlock? Soft baits like that tend to last a little better rigged on one. Maybe even try a rig like an Owner flashy swimmer to get a little extra flash and thump. A swimbait on something like a swim jig head fished on a baitcaster is a good option as well.

Post a photo a day!
How we use to fish my friends uncle's pond. Rickety old dock he had on the pond that wasn't anchored and always floating around anyways, so we just started hopping on and floating around on it and fishing everything as we went. First graduated to a push pole, then I screwed a 2x6 to it and put a battery on it and the most redneck pond prowler you've ever seen, but we caught a bunch of fish from that thing.

What is a glide bait?
A gliding swimbait, usually a slow sinking bait. The River2Sea Swaver 168 and Savage Gear Shine Glide 185 are both popular versions.

Early season lures?
I've been doing really well with a small jerkbait early this year, specifically a Yo-Zuri 3DS Series Minnow in the 2 3/4" size.

DRT KLASH 9 and TINY KLASH
$250 for a K9?! Someone is doing some serious bait flipping. I had a K9 but didn't like it much. I'd like to get a TK but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Not sure what color I want and have some more pressing purchases to make first.
