Latest Catch Pics Thread
Third Thursday night win in a row for me last week, plus big bass. We had a 5 fish limit, every other boat blanked.

What a toad!

Vegetation vs. Bite
Hold the tension against the line and just wait for it to do something until you're satisfied it's just weeds. The more experienced you get, the less time it will usually take but we all get fooled from time to time.

Channel cat or blue cat
Channel, blues have straight anal fins, channels have rounded ones like that fish.

Top water bite = ???
I'm one if the oddballs that would rather catch them on a jig than anything else. Now if we're talking smallmouth, then I'd probably prefer topwater because I catch bigger fish.

kastking rods any good?
Personally have not been a fan of any of the Loomis rods I've owned or fished, but Dobyn's are nice, just mostly out of my price range to get their better quality rods. I have 2 Fury's that get a good amount of use. I still manage to scrape by with my budget rods though. I've been using my new Speed Demon Pro and really liking it. I like the Winn Grips and how light and sensitive it is for a rod in a very saturated price range. I'll echo what @nosdog2 said about the hook keeper, not my favorite location and seems kind of flimsy, but that's the only part about it I haven't been a fan of so far. I'd like to try a couple more of them, especially a couple spinning rods.

Bass Popping Frogs
I've had some smallies knock a plopper a long ways in the air. The prize goes to channel cats tail slapping buzzbaits 10' or higher in the air though.

Schooling Smallmouth
They're probably almost uncatchable in between those flurries, but if you put a Ned or tube right on their noses they might bite. A suspended jerkbait or walking topwater fished really quickly might fire them up too.

Bass Lures For Stormy Summer Days
Buzzbait, bladed jig, and a jig.

Choppo vs. Whopper Plopper
Someone needs to make one with a little sleeve that covers the joint without hitting the blade or stopping the rotation, or like a grass goat for joint, that might not be that unrealistic really. Companies copy each other, I don't understand why people get upset about it. If I can buy the same thing for cheaper, I'm probably going to. Now pretending like something is new or innovative when it's clearly a copy, I'll get a chuckle out of that, but nobody is making anyone buy the KO of what they consider the original, so keep spending the extra money and supporting the copy of your choice. R2S is still going to do just fine on Plopper sales when the Choppo hits the shelves I promise. I'm really excited about the new topwater lineup from Berkley, love their hardbaits and the fact that they come with good hardware makes it even better. Glad they'll be out before my end of the year fish off, I'll need some for that for sure.

Drying wet boxes
I tried, spend the extra couple dollars and save yourself the hours of your life you'll spend drilling all those little holes in all your boxes. I'm going to switch all mine over, tired of rusted hooks, could have bought them MANY times over from all the hooks and split rings I've replaced. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Plano_Hydro-Flo_StowAway_3700_Utility_Boxes/descpage-PHFS43700.html

Fish ID please
It's a goldeye, use to catch them often fishing for white bass at Milford Lake in Kansas. Mooneye have silver eyes, goldeyes have, drum roll please, golden eyes. They really do look like one, except they have nasty little teeth.

Whopper Plopper
They're very effective for me in all sizes from the 90 to 190, haven't tried the 75 yet but probably will. IMO a wide variety of colors is unnecessary. Bone is by far my best color in all sizes, combined with a slow, steady retrieve. I've had best luck covering large, shallower areas or paralleling edges.

Tips for trip to Table Rock
Very true, it sounds like the bite had crashed hard this week, 50 to 100 fish days have gone to working for 10 fish.

St. Croix LTB Still The Premiere Shaky Head Rod ?
I like mine but I've had it for years now and haven't tried anything else to compare it to. Shakyheads are almost not an option for us because of the zebra mussels anymore.

Blue's Multispecies Challenge
Got a slight upgrade on my smallmouth. I still have more work to and kind of disappointed with how I've done so far, but it ends the end of the month and I have a knockout punch planned still, but I'm still doing pretty good. My channel cat got DQ'd because my yak wasn't in the picture, which was 27" so that hurt, but I'll get another one.

Have you ever snapped a lure off with braid?
I've both casted off and broken off with braid on more than one occasion, most likely due to me being lazy and thinking it wouldn't happen because it was braid and not retying when I should have.
