    Welcome!
  3. Lucky craft pointers and slender pointers, Berkley Cutters, and custom painted 110 blanks are my main jerks.
  4. Jerkbaits are my best baits early in the year in cold water. A 65 pointer worked well for me on Tuesday.
  5. I've been twice, it's an awesome trip.
  6. That was another caveat to what I was saying, when I do use a leader, it's always mono or copoly.
  7. I don't worry about it anymore. The only reason I fish Fluorocarbon now is if I need a line that sinks. I only use a leader with braid if I need the abrasion resistance, otherwise it's straight braid, even in clear water.

  9. It's usually done during the summer months. Buy some grain at a feed store and put it in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Fill it with enough water to cover the grain, make sure there's vent holes to let air escape, but small enough to keep flies out. Let it sit in the sun for a couple days and you'll be ready to go. A lot of work that is really not needed, but it is popular on lakes like Perry, Clinton, and Glen Elder.
  10. Savage Gear Shine Glide is the best <$50 bait out there imo. I sold all my 175 Slide Swimmers because I never fish them over the Shine Glides.
  11. You won't find a better quality product for the money than you will ordering from Siebert's. If you need a jig you can buy about anywhere, the Booyah jigs are nice too.
  12. Welcome! Not sure how far down NE KS is to you, but I usually fish solo and have an open invitation to any BR member that wants to jump in.
  13. I've heard they're a pretty good place to work for, especially as far as retail goes. Hope all goes well for you.
  14. I've done it 3 times on 3 different trailers, it sucked every time.
  15. I really like the Ocho's. They have a wider, more aggressive wobble on the fall than a senko. The flat sides make rigging a little cleaner. Durability is a wash. The Ocho is a little bit cheaper (.61 a piece to .74 each for a 5" Senko).
  16. They're a great bait for burning or slow rolling deep. Mouse, sexy mouse, green shad, and spot remover are my favorites, but you might want to check out sun perch for fishing around yellow perch.
  17. Got the trailer all painted up and some of the old parts that were salvageable back on, and put some new pieces on. Probably swap the jack to the other side because the handle from it and the winch touch, and I know I'll end up bleeding from the knuckles at some point if I leave it where it is. Took the hub apart on one side yesterday and cleaned the grease out (there was so much that it was falling out of the hub in big globs), and removed the bearings and seals. Bearings looked okay, seals were shot. I'm still going to replace the bearings as cheap insurance. Figure I have the hubs apart and have to repack bearings either way, might as well be new ones so there's no question on their condition. Undecided on the winch. It's ugly, but functions fine and the cable on it seems to be in pretty good condition also. Need to get a safety chain for the front of the boat, and chains for the coupler. Going to be ordering the tires and installing the light kit soon and then I'll be on to the boat!
  18. I was on my way down the bank to fish this point when these jerks cut me off.
  19. I use a technique I call bass fishing for catfish. Basically it's a piece of fresh cut shad, bluegill, carp, on a 2/0 Kahle hook, fished on a M or MH spinning rod and 20lb braid. Cast it along weed edges, rip rap, where ever a catfish might be laying and let it settle to the bottom, then fish it back with slow hops like you would a plastic worm. Be ready because bites are often violent and they tend to take off really fast. I made a couple bad videos on the technique.
  20. Academy has their highest end spinning rods on sale for $40 right now (normally $100). There's a 7' 2" M that would help balance out the weight of that 40 size reel and a 6' 8" M that would be a good all around rod. Then you'll have plenty left over to get a nice reel to put on it.
  21. Feels similar to me in size to a 200E series Curado/Chronarch.
  22. My favorite technique for lipped cranks-leave them in the box in the boat storage. Favorite lipless technique-rip them up and let them fall on a semi tight line. Also work well on the straight retrieve obviously.
  23. They're a good bait. I haven't caught a ton with them yet, but I don't fish cranks often. I like the action and how well they cast. The durability has been great so far as promised too.
  24. Tons of information in the fishing articles here, and if you have any questions you can post in the forums. I just glanced through the link and there's some incorrect terminology at the very least.
  25. Pit Boss, Menace, Rodent, Rage Craw.
