For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I'm fishing cold water this week, already decided. 50s both weekend days then 70s Monday. I'll probably catch more in a cold water lake than I would in a recently shut down power plant lake.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
In case someone was going to go there this weekend, not a puff of smoke from the La Cygne stack this morning.

P Line vs. Fluorcarbon?
Yes, great stuff

NED head hook failing?
I put a 20+lb flathead in the boat in about 4 minutes on one of my Ned heads with an Eagle Claw Lil' Nasty. Only reason I've ever seen one break was because it was left rigged in a bait for an extended period and the hook rusted before being used again, in combination with an overzealous hookset or oversized gear.

Finesse Jig Weight
I actually need to get some lighter Ned heads for those rare days when there's little wind. I'm a firm believer that the lighter the weight I can get a away with, the better my catch will be in almost all situations.

What Happened to.....?
He's still on here occasionally, just not as often. There was another young guy that was here all the time and I haven't seen post in awhile. I'll have to do some digging and see if I can find some of his old post to remember the name.

I need a lesson.
A lake I used to fish a lot had a huge tree trunk that was still in the lake bottom. It was probably about 2' across, came to within a couple feet of the surface in 17' of water. It was broke off in kind of a bowl indention in the top and there was a bed in the top of that tree every year. I caught one of the healthiest looking fish I ever caught out of that very overpressured lake. It was in the middle of a cove and well off the bank while everyone else was on the shoreline looking for beds.

Finesse Jig Weight
Ned-1/16 Slider-1/8 Shaky-1/8 Grub-1/8 Also fish an ultra finesse skirted jig that I make that is 1/8 that is a killer in the spring when all the little craws are everywhere.

My first chatterbait
Same here. The steady vibration and bulky profile is great after dark.

Spinnerbait blade question
The price stinks, but the production I get from gold and especially copper blades is worth it to me.

Comal Weighted Bobbers
I have no idea about those kinds of floats. I've always used a casting bubble if I need something that will cast further. There's several companies that produce weighted bobbers and/or ones designed to cast further.

Keitech Swimbaits - 3" - 5"
Put them on the back of a swim jig and throw them in those pads. My BIL puts a 5" on the back of a swim jig and does really well with it. I use the same on the back of my bladed jigs. Looks too big for the bait until a 5 pounder has it in it's mouth, they you start thinking how big of a hook it would take to put a 6 or 7 inch one on the back

Huddleston 8" Trout Vs. Savage Gear Line-Thru Trout 8"
Very different baits IMO. The Hudd is designed to be fished very slowly, often bumping along the bottom. The SG is made to be fished faster and has a much more active, escaping baitfish swim to it. SG also makes the 3D Real Trout that is more like the Hudd style bait, but I don't know if a bait will ever be made that can be fished as slowly as a Hudd and still have the swim that they do.

Bass Pro Shops Kermy Frogs
I don't get too caught up in colors on my frogs. I like my white, black, and brown Booyahs, regular and popping frogs (and soon some of the Toad Runners), and I'm good.

How much you spending?
- GAmagatsu Hooks/Walmart
Wal-Mart carries the Jason Christie signature series of EWG worm hook by Eagle Claw. I use them for everything T rigged and pour them on my swinging football heads. They're less that $5 for a 12pk I believe. If you haven't looked at Eagle Claw hooks in the last few years they've made major changes to their hooks and are now right there in the mix with any other premium hook on the market (they do make Trokar afterall).- P Line vs. Fluorcarbon?
I like Pline, but was not a fan of Fluoroclear. Lately I've been fishing Hi Seas flouro coated copolymer and have really been liking it. Great abrasion resistance and manageable. Used it on spinning and casting from 8lb for shakyheads to 15lb for jigs and bladed jigs, along with 10 for jerks and cranks. It's held up great for all of them.- My first chatterbait
Most of the fishing I do is around rocks and shallow cover. They're great around grass, but they're great around a lot of other stuff too.- Post a photo a day!
If some of your dinner doesn't end up in your hair, you're not doing it right.- Branson Trip
The trout are pretty easy. Light spinning rod, 4-6 pound test, variety of small lures like Little Cleo spoons in 1/8-1/4oz, inline spinners, small jigs under a bobber, or tiny crankbaits. The favorite presentation for most down there is Powerbait eggs or corn on a bottom fishing rig like you would for catfish. I personally haven't done much bank fishing at Table Rock but I know I hear guys that do talk about the areas around Kimberling City and Indian Point being good for it. I'd fish around the boat ramps if I was going to be doing it.- Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Went to drop a Slammer off for new paint at a friend's house last night. He had a surprise I'd forgotten I even asked for. - GAmagatsu Hooks/Walmart
